In their last episode for season two, Dash and Tami chat with actor and comedian Josh Glanc about … so many things, including: leaving law behind to pursue a career in entertainment, the unbreakable intergenerational umbilical cord, flipped stereotypes in Australian Jewish schools, wanting to make everyone proud and an anti-Jewish heckler.

In this episode, your favourite ‘girl, interrupted’ chats to her favourite ‘girl, in finance’ Gaby Rosenberg from Blossom. Gaby talks about her (and her sister Ali’s) journey to becoming co-founders of a startup and explains some basic investment terms. Tami spontaneously cries like she did in primary school maths and they both open up about the pressures of having financial security as adults. Plus Dash reveals something he’s ashamed to admit and it has nothing to do with a bidet.

With women's reproductive rights in the United States looking more precarious in the wake of the Trump re-election, Tami and Dash explore Orthodoxy's stance on abortion, family planning, and IVF. Who better to turn to than Melbourne lawyer, Orthodox feminist, an ordained rabbi and mother of four (and soon to be five) Nomi Kaltmann. In this episode, Nomi introduces us to two seminal rabbinic figures Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi Eliezer Waldenberg, and she takes us on a journey through the intersection of Jewish law, modern technology, and women’s autonomy. In doing so, Nomi challenges cultural taboos and reveals the surprisingly nuanced and pragmatic approaches that Orthodoxy and the law in Israel has taken to reproduction.

For too long, the stories and culture of Mizrahi Jews – Jews from the Middle East, North Africa and Asia – have been unrecognised and unrepresented in Australia's Jewish community. Yet Mizrahi music, food, and culture have enriched Jewish traditions and cultural life for generations, weaving vibrant threads into the tapestry of Jewish identity – in Israel, Australia and Jewish communities worldwide. In a Mizrahi Heritage Month special, Tami and Dash meet Shai Shriki, a Jewish-Moroccan musician born in Israel who lives in the Northern Rivers of NSW, playing music and crafting the traditional instruments of his Mizrahi ancestors.

Are Israel and Hezbollah on the brink of an all-out war? We confront the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah with Arab affairs expert and content creator Elhanan Miller. Elhanan sheds light on Israel's recent intelligence and military actions, the influence of Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah (who was killed in the days after the episode was recorded), and the intricate ties between Hezbollah and Iran. Lastly, we explore the complex cultural and political landscape of Lebanon and its impact on the wider Arab world. Elhanan provides insights into the sectarian divisions and historical alliances that define Lebanon's political scene, examining the role of Maronite Christians and their historical ties to Israel. Despite ongoing turmoil, he shares a hopeful vision for future peace and the role of education in achieving it.

Upon hearing the news of the murder of six Israelis who were held hostage in Gaza on Sept 1st, Jewish communities were thrust into mourning. Since then, it has been very difficult for many to speak about these deaths and it’s a rare gift to be able to communicate articulately while in the depths of grief. With his striking capacity for empathy and hope, TJI’s Jerusalem correspondent Ittay Flescher joined Tami and Dash to describe the despair many in Israel in the Jewish world feel.
‘The Holy and the Broken’ by Ittay Flescher is now available for pre-order at ittay.au It will be out in January 2025 in bookstores across Australia, published by HarperCollins.
Ittay can also be found on social media at @ittay78 and on TJI where he writes a regular column from Jerusalem, imagining a different future for all Israelis and Palestinians.
This episode's closing song by The Bashevis Singers (and thank you to the band for letting us use the song).

The pageantry and ecstatic 'vibe' of last month's Democratic National Convention (DNC), in which Kamala Harris was certified the party's presidential nominee, belied a dark reality: American Jewish voters, once home among Democrats, are now politically homeless. That's the view of Peter Savodnik, a Washington-based journalist and senior editor for The Free Press. Peter reported on the DNC and the Republican National Convention (hello, Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock) and is increasingly troubled by what he sees on the left and the right.
Tami and Dash caught up with Peter to get his take on the DNC, Harris's posture towards Israel and the war in Gaza, and an answer to a question that's been bugging Tami for weeks: what does Julia Louis-Dreyfus smell like?

In his latest books, My Family and The God Desire, Baddiel shares his strange and dysfunctional upbringing and his private yearnings for the existence of a god and 'cosmic justice'. He's in Australia for the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, and joined ATA for a wide-ranging conversation about parenting, golfing memorabilia and antisemitism post-October 7. Plus, Tami shares her newfound admiration for Sydney-based klezmer outfit Chutney.
