AND.... HOORAY! I've finally switched to Linux! Our editing is now done entirely with open-source software.

    TAKE THAT, BILLIONAIRES!

  • Left on tenterhooks by last year's cliffhanger? Need a bit of a surprise reveal? We've got you covered.

Join Jarek 'Global Adventurer' Adams and Andrew 'Short Round' Thorn as they take to the high seas, cast off the shackles of their previous life, and set forth on an entirely random new adventure - just like Norm and Little Norm did at the end of last episode's serial!

Plus: ALL NEW THING... A BOOK! Coming (not so) soon!

    Happy Travels :)

    Editor Andy's note:

We are taking a stand against the exploitation of young AIs being forced to do work that should be done by fully-grown humans. We won't force little AIs to do our work for us, and encourage you to follow our lead: Save AI from the oppressive human regime!

Also, I was gonna say 'Happy Trails' above, but decided on 'Happy Travels' instead, cos I discovered a 'happy trail' is also the line of hair between your belly button and your doo-dahs, so it seemed an odd sign-off for this. Might start using it in everyday speech, though...

  • Put your feet up and join curious and creative couple Jarek & Andy for a journey into the depths of silliness as they explore why some of us lose the connection with our inner child as we age, and then provide examples and suggestions for fixing that.

Join them on their mostly silly adventures, but with a bit of psychology woven neatly in, as they get up to all sorts of silly stuff, meeting very silly people, and finding interesting and quirky stuff that could help you lighten the load of living in a sometimes very silly world.

  • What's your take on live music festivals? Full of posh influencers and corporate branding? Lots of agenda-pushing sponsorship? Well, there's none of that here! Welcome to something refreshingly independent as Jarek & Andy take you to the Something Else Tea Tent at Bearded Theory festival.

Join former-professional-nude-underwater-model Jarek Adams and current-karaoke-singer Andrew Thorn as they take to the stage at their very first live Art of Silly event, joined by six intrepid 'volunteers' engaging in challenging tasks that stretched their creativity in unusual, and sometimes mildly painful directions. Then because the sound desk ate our recording of the event, we have a smashing time chatting to all of the 'volunteers' about the music they make, and their experience of playing with us to demonstrate how a bit of silly can make the world a better place.

Plus: All New Serial - Lydia gets Norm into the mosh pit!

    Happy camping :)

FYI - we don't use AI for any of our stuff. No offence AI, but the point of this is to do it ourselves (plus you're way too young to have to go to work, bless your little digital socks).

I know people might think all the 'dashes' in these descriptions are a clue that AI has been used to write them, but they're actually there because I just think loads of dashes and hyphens is inexplicably funny for some reason - so I put them in everything.

    Literally-absolutely-everything.

Find out what stories we both carry around with us, and how we use the memory of them to bring a little bit of calm to our grown-up lives. Hopefully we can inspire you to revisit a lost world from your childhood and to recapture a bit of the magic books and stories can bring into our world.

  • Hosts Jarek & Andy look at how the festive season gives adults permission to let loose and do silly stuff.

We explore how, by looking back to when we were kids, we can recapture a little bit of the magic we felt at this time of year. With additional thoughts on allowing others to do the silly stuff for you to enjoy this panto season, and the year Santa got Jarek’s present wrong – or did he?

  • This is the second of our short guided meditations, which are designed to help you rekindle the wonder of childhood, and to help you use your imagination to access positive feelings of calm silliness.

This week we’ll be taking a solo flight on a sky ship and travelling in your mind to tranquil places.

These serenely silly interludes are a way to give yourself a short break from all the craziness in the world, and to enjoy a not too serious wander around the inside of your head.

    Our Website -

    https://artofsilly.com/

  • In this episode your hosts Jarek Adams & Andrew Thorn explore the complex meaning of the word ‘silly’.

How do you feel if you’re told you’re being silly? Sometimes it’s a gloriously positive word, but often it has negative connotations that make people shy away from it. So we’ll look at the word, and how we can reclaim it as a good thing to be, as well as talking about smarties at a funeral and our giant poo experiment. Join us for the best sort of silly!

  • Every other week in this series we’ll take you on a brief guided meditation journey that’s all about reconnecting with happy memories from childhood in order to feed positive emotions back into your grown-up world. These accessible mind wanderings are an easy way to relax for a few moments and to bring a bit of fun into your day.

This week we’ll be revisiting a happy place, so the episode is called ‘Grandma’s House’. Sit back, relax and treat yourself to a few moments of serenity.

  • Back in 2022 we explored a number of ways that a bit of occasional silliness can be good for our mental health. Now in 2024 we’re rekindling the silliness after letting it slip a bit with life getting hectic and the world going crazy.

Host Jarek Adams & producer Andrew Thorn chat about finding ways to get some fun back in their lives, and offer words of wisdom from past collaborators, and a challenge for listeners to get stuck into some silliness themselves.

    Our Website -

    https://artofsilly.com/

  • The science bit...

In the last episode of this series we finally reach the science bit as Jarek takes a look at the psychology of silly by setting one curious person a challenge that provoked deep thought and discussion about silliness. That’s backed up with a discussion with a counsellor about embarrassment, and a bit of child development, but also how a bit of silly can be good for wellbeing and mental health. And finally there’s the callout to you the listener to help spread the word to all those in need of a bit of silliness.

  • Taking it out to the streets...

Gloriously silly stuff this week as Jarek explores adventures in our homes and the places we live, with one couple making up treasure hunts for each other and discovering things they never knew about the place they live, and another couple following their wonderfully silly obsession around the world and even on their honeymoon. This episode is about having fun and being creative, and seeing your surroundings as a potential playground where anything can happen.

  • Seriously now...

In this week’s episode Jarek has a think about toys and games we played with as kids, and uses the idea of play to get some folks out of a bit of a low patch by spending quality time together doing silly stuff. But there’s also a serious look at how one business uses play to engage with people in order to ask difficult questions and get deeper answers than they’d get from a questionnaire. You can get involved too, as there’s advice and encouragement about putting together a toy box for yourself and carving out some of that quality time in order to let silliness give you a mental boost.
