In this week's episode of the Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get to the end of re-watching Season 1 of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends and discuss episode 5 Weird Christmas. Greer and Bethan discuss whether it is worth trying to evangelize Manhattan by using helium balloons, wonder if Mountain Mike will get his first blow-job in 20 years and ponder how far is too far when getting naked outside.
In this week's episode of the Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get to the end of re-watching Season 1 of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends and discuss episode 5 Weird Christmas which Greer claims to be one of the best things ever broadcast on television. Four interviewees from previous episodes all meet in New York City to spend Christmas Day with Louis; the only problem is, they all have very contrasting views of the world. His guests include a born again Christian, a porn actor, an off grid survivalist and an alien channeling pastor. Greer and Bethan discuss whether it is worth trying to evangelize Manhattan by using helium balloons, wonder if Mountain Mike will get his first blow-job in 20 years and ponder how far is too far when getting naked outside.
Bethan also celebrates the end of her PhD by singing house music inspired by her local Ocado Man and Greer navigates a pointless socially distant contact lens checkup.

In this week's Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get into discussing the porn industry thanks to episode three of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends; a topic they never thought that they would be discussing together especially as their friendship began in a Latin class at an all girls Grammar school.
In this week's Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan get into discussing the porn industry thanks to episode three of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends; a topic they never thought that they would be discussing together especially as their friendship began in a Latin class at an all girls Grammar school. Nevertheless, Bethan uses her famed research skills to discuss how much of what we see in porn translates into the real sex lives of young adults today and how porn trends that were seen as pushing the boundaries in the late 90s are actually Vanilla by today's standards.
Aside from porn, there is another startling revelation about Bethan's lockdown haircut and Greer contemplates whether you could actually make any money by printing, "You can masturbate without porn everybody!" on a t-shirt.
CW: While re-watching Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends S1E3 Porn, we discuss suicide rates in the porn industry, HIV, violence during sex, abuse and making porn.

This week Greer and Bethan take a look back at Louis Theroux’s experiences with UFOs. He visits Thor Templar the self-proclaimed ‘Lord Commander of The Earth Protectorate’, communicates with an Extra-Terrestrial for $50 and goes on a tour with Renee, the ‘Wet Wipe’, to Area 51 (not 41.)
In another week of Coronavirus confusion, Greer and Bethan contemplate whether they actually know 6 members from other households that would willingly meet up with them in a park at two metres distance. As social distancing has been a firm feature of their friendship for the last few years, Bethan proves it to be even more essential when discussing bird seed, sparrow hawks and Chris Packham at the beginning of this episode.
If you make it through the questioning of “How much bird seed does one need?” and, Greer’s quick Google to see whether Pen Island is still active, you will reach the second episode of Anecdotally’s Weird Weekends Watch-Along.

Greer manages to say the words, ‘scrotum’, ‘testes’, ‘penis’ and ‘rectum’ more times than she ever has before and Bethan looks up Area 51 hotels on Trip Advisor. They also discuss whether you bought into the early 00s scandal of breeding your gooey aliens by putting them back to back.

To keep her away from Harry Potter “I promise it’s not sexual“ fan-fiction, Bethan suggested we re-watch Louis Theroux's first ever documentary series, Weird Weekends. In Episode 1 of Anecdotally’s Weird Weekends Watch-Along, we take a look back at Louis’ experiences with Born Again Christians.
As the Covid 19 Lockdown continues to ruin everybody’s plans for 2020, Bethan has started a complicated relationship with a Brownie delivery company and Greer has taken to blocking out the news by listening to Louis Theroux’s audiobook on repeat. To keep her away from Harry Potter “I promise it’s not sexual“ fan-fiction, Bethan suggested that the next few episodes of Anecdotally be a look back at Louis Theroux’s first ever documentary series from 1998, Weird Weekends in which he visits communities in America that hold strong beliefs and gets stuck in with their lifestyle.

In episode nine of the Anecdotally podcast, we find out whether Bethan‘s family have recovered from their Ancestry addiction and reminisce about children’s TV classics including Bernard’s Watch. Bethan is also shamed by an electronic owl and tells us why she once dressed up like a sponge. Greer wonders whether you can really make a feminist statement with a Paperchase notebook and professes her undying love for Only Fools and Horses.

In episode eight of the Anecdotally podcast, Bethan is concerned that a £20 a month Ancestry subscription is driving her family apart. Greer is given a job offer in porn after her mother wrongly handed out her CV on a night out. As well as what she kept hidden at the back of her wardrobe during Freshers’ Week. Bethan arguably had a more exciting Freshers’ week, at least there was a boy involved in hers but he probably wasn’t bargaining on an organised trip to the GUM Clinic instead of the poster sale.

In episode six of the Anecdotally podcast, Greer and Bethan are back for a Christmas Special which involves ruining the nativity, ‘Pleb Chocolate’ and Santa defecating. Bethan also lets us in on her annual tradition of receiving a pack of Marks and Spencer’s thongs from her Grandma and Greer explains why buying a cheese advent calendar isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
In this week’s episode of Anecdotally, the podcast made by Greer Riddell and Bethan Poyser to try and make you feel better about your own life, Bethan is flummoxed by a vending machine at the gym and some special 50 pence pieces.
Greer discusses the origin of the ‘Sort Your Life Out Week’ and why she once cried her eyes out in the window of Claire’s Accessories in Coventry.
We also discuss in episode 5, what absolute nonsense you can get from the Aldi Special Buys section and give Club Penguin the send-off it deserves.

In episode five of the Anecdotally Podcast, Bethan is flummoxed by a vending machine at the gym and Greer discusses why she could once be found crying in the window of Claire's Accessories in Coventry. We also discuss Aldi Special Buys and say a fond farewell to the institution that was Club Penguin.

In episode four of the Anecdotally Podcast, Greer and Bethan discuss which is better living at home with your parents or living with a partner. Bethan is living the high life watching law-based Britbox dramas with her Mum and Dad whilst Greer lives with a man who has accidentally been buying shoes made for Taekwondo instead of trainers for the last decade.
Episode 4 of Anecdotally with Greer Riddell and Bethan Poyser is all about the unsurprising statistic that in 2019 nearly one-third of Millennials live with their parents. This is the first time that living at home has outpaced living with a partner for this age group (18-34-year-olds) since records began in the 1800s.
So whilst Bethan is chilling at home with her parents watching law-based dramas on Britbox and getting bought Vegetarian Prawns, Greer has inadvertently chosen fish over money and is still marvelling at the fact that for a considerable amount of time, her boyfriend thought he was buying trainers but instead has been buying specific shoes made for Taekwando.
Bethan also advertises for the Derbyshire tourist board and wishes to marry a man who works at the local Garden Centre.

n episode three of the Anecdotally podcast, Bethan complains about Paul Hollywood’s tentacles and shares her idea for making the Great British Bake Off much more entertaining, and Greer reminisces about throwing a tantrum during the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh‘s Award. We also discuss why you should never stick sanitary towels to your shoulders and if you have to perform in front of a class of 30 students it’s probably best to leave Shania Twain alone.
Welcome back to episode three of Anecdotally with Greer Riddell and Bethan Poyser, a free therapy session (not for you but for us) that we’ve for some reason uploaded to iTunes.
You know when you’re doing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award, right? And, your backpack is chaffing your shoulders a bit too much - yes? Well, here’s some advice…. Don’t stick Sanitary Towels to your skin as a quick fix. How do we know this? Bethan did it and it much like her performance of Shania Twain’s That Don’t Impress Me Much to a class of 30 students, it was one of the worst decisions of her life. Greer wouldn’t know either of these things, however, as she too was embarrassing herself in front of another 30 students by playing a lyric-less rendition of Wonderwall on guitar, missing out the chorus as F#m7 was a bit too hard. Either that or she was refusing to drop her trousers and wee in a field full of cows.

In episode two of the Anecdotally podcast, Bethan has recently trafficked herself to Ghent, and introduces us to Henry the Duck who seems to enjoy tea, Greer is still not over being called a “Bastard!” by a teacher for writing a finely crafted rhyming poem. I still don’t fancy Ian Hislop.
A new week and a new episode of Anecdotally, a comical and potentially libellous new podcast from Greer Riddell and Bethan Poyser. I do not fancy Ian Hislop.
In episode two, we’re talking about men. Specifically old men. Thankfully you never heard our teenage conversations which involved Bethan walking up to the top of an isolated hill at night to find signal purely so we could gossip about her unconventional teenage crush, the Wiff-Waffing, Ziplining, Weirdly Womanising, now Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It was either him or an unsuspecting Maths teacher with a memorable hair cut. At least neither of them spilt tea on her during a work conference at Legoland like some people’s actual partners... ahem.
As well as men, Bethan has recently trafficked herself to Ghent, and introduces us to Henry the Duck who seems to enjoy tea, Greer is still not over being called a “Bastard!” by a teacher for writing a finely crafted rhyming poem. I still don’t fancy Ian Hislop.

In the first-ever episode of the Anecdotally podcast, Bethan says goodbye to private school and hello to talking about excrement. Greer discusses why she was once semi-naked during a Latin lesson and we finally get to the bottom of how on earth Bethan managed to dye the front of her hair with Clearasil as a teenager.
In the first-ever episode of the Anecdotally Podcast, Greer and Bethan reminisce about when they first met. Was it friendship at first sight? Probably not as neither of them can remember exactly when it was. However, if Bethan’s account of Year 7 is anything to go by, it would most likely be a resounding no.
After having to transition from Private School to Grammar School (the shame), Bethan said Goodbye to the East Kent elite and Hello to talking about poo. This later led to her being pulled to one side by a teacher over her conversation topics. Thankfully for our listeners, this stern talking to didn’t fix the problem and we now both have a healthy bank of embarrassing stories to tell 10 years later in a public podcast.
While Bethan was attempting to socialise, Greer was trying to cram in as many GCSE and A-Level subjects into a week as possible and binge-eat Morrison’s cheesecakes behind a copy of the Aeneid during class. No wonder we’re still friends.
Join us for a traumatic look back at our school years in Episode 1 of Anecdotally and find out why Greer was once semi-naked during a Latin lesson (no, it wasn’t due to the cheesecake) and if you thought poo-talk was bad, we’ll finally get to the bottom of how Bethan managed to dye the front of her hair with Clearasil.
Send us a message below and we’ll read the best out on next week’s show!
