“Hashem gives it the physical world existence and animates it by
the vitality and light which He causes to flow and shine forth unto it— a
light that is clothed, hidden and concealed within the numerous and
powerful garments, which hide and screen the light and vitality, so that
no light or vitality whatever is visibly revealed, but only corporeal and
physical things that appear lifeless. Yet they contain light and vitality
which constantly give them existence ex nihilo, that they shall not revert
and become nothing and nought as they had been.”

  • Welcome to After the Shofar, a Jewish Climate Network podcast bringing you lactose-free morsels of insight for a meaningful Jewish year ahead.

With fresh Jewish Australian voices, we'll be diving into big questions inspired by this time in the Jewish calendar: how might the Jewish practice of teshuvah - repentance - make us better Jews, better people, and better climate leaders? And when all is said and done - after the shofar blows for the last time - what do we each want to stand for and be proud of when the next New Year rolls around?

Thank you to the Erdi Foundation for supporting these important conversations and for your commitment to Jewish leadership on climate issues. We could not have done this without you.
