I have seen this time and time again in clinical practice with acne clients. They buy the supplements, they eat clean, they do the skincare BUT they still believe that they will have acne for the rest of their lives and that nothing will work for them.
I use to think that something was deeply wrong with me, when I tried absolutely everything to treat my acne with no success and the acne would come back even worse.... until I learnt how to treat the root cause of my acne, which I now teach Skin Professionals how to do in my step by step course Advanced Acne to g l o w®.
I have now meditated every morning and night, give or take a few sessions for 13 years!! I definitely notice the days I do not meditate. I have a shorter fuse, more anxious, easily overwhelmed, less creative, less productive and overall less happy.... so I created this meditation specific to all my acne clients in clinic to support them re train their brain to believe having clear skin is possible because it is. I wanted my clients to focus on the things that are already working in their life and to be grateful for that every morning.
Supplements, Functional Testing, Skincare will not work if your client unconsciously and consciously thinks that their acne will never go away and even if it does when they look at their face they will always see acne or left over acne scars as acne. It is very important to address the mental component of acne and having clients do this short FREE meditation in the morning consistently will make the world of difference!!

This episode is all about implementing 'Food as our medicine', as two Acne Nutritionists (Sisley Killam) and myself Hayley Barnes, talk everything nutrition and treating acne internally. Sisley and myself both have had our own personal struggles with acne, which makes this episode even more special.
I know a lot of Skin Therapists are concerned about treating the root cause of acne internally with nutrition and whether it is within their scope of practice and YES IT IS!!!!!!
Eating cooked and cooled rice, more fresh fruits and vegetables and going to bed earlier..... never hurt anyone…. no one is asking you to prescribe supplements. This is what a trained Naturopath is trained to do.....but what YOU can do is understand how acne is a sign/symptom of a bigger health challenge. You have the power to not only identify, explain and treat the root cause, using Food as Medicine but really advocate for your clients in regard to them trusting their bodies to heal.....because what the mind believes, the body achieves..... the power of an acne clients conscious and subconscious mind is super powerful. Treatments such as food as medicine, the fine art of 'rest' and mindset are very under rated when treating acne.
In a day and age where over supplementing and supplements like (zinc, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D & Biotin) in excess can actually CAUSE acne. Be the therapist who support their acne client, to go back to basics and achieve the MOST EFFECTIVE LONG TERM results in doing so...... key nutritional recommendations for clear skin, specific to the cause of your client acne is absolutely life changing for acne clients, because what you eat, becomes your cellular makeup and your cells are YOU!!
This is why nutrition and clear skin need to go hand and hand together!!
