Chinglish (n.) is a slang used to mock nonstandard English that is influenced by Chinese. Adopting the term, we--Hong and Yukun, two Chinese-born PhD students in the U.S.--aim to reclaim and rearticulate its connotations as a way to chronicle our academic journey: navigating the pursuit of a doctoral degree, weathering the unpredictable cultural and identity conflicts, plus other gag-worthy nuggets buoying up in life! This podcast is a casual and bilingual (English & Mandarin) chat between us, and we hope it resonates with whoever is surviving their PhD just like us!
