paypal.me/AShotGlassofRecoveryEpisode Title: Karolina from the UK
Karolina is a woman just heading into her 4th year of a life recovered. It's funny because if you knew her at 2 years into her journey of recovery you wouldn't think these two women were the same person! Just goes to show a LOT can happen on our journey on the road to recovery.
Karolina's story is not unique, save for a few minor details (husband, kid) her story could be my story. We came here got dry before we got sober before we got emotionally sober and got on the path to spiritually fit.
Time takes time and God works on us when we let go and let God.
Let's listen in.

Episode Title: Chapter 8 - To Wives
Probably one of THE most loathed chapters for women in recovery because behind those feelings is a world of hurt and feeling left out and misunderstood. We were the alcoholic wives and many of us thought this chapter didn't concern us. But what is it Herbert Spencer said about "contempt prior to investigation"?
It leaves us in a world of ignorance.
So let's keep an open mind and get into it!
p.s. replace "husband" with "the alcoholic" in your mind....it helps.

Henry O got sober in 2005 and has been active in Alcoholics Anonymous ever since. He has a sponsor—who knows he is his sponsor—he sponsors other men, and he carries the AA message inside prison walls.
Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Henry now lives in Warrington, UK. As a young lad, he was caught drinking at a school dance. In an attempt to teach him a lesson about the dangers of alcohol, his father took him to the pub the following week, making him drink one-for-one with him. Henry swore he’d never drink again—but as the hangover faded, excitement for the next pub visit took its place. His father’s plan had backfired.
Today, Henry speaks about the mental twist and blank spot that every alcoholic experiences. He shares his journey from loss and incomprehensible demoralization to living sober, recovered, and free—a changed man, thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Episode Title: A Shot Glass of Recovery: Chapter 7 - Working with Others
In Episode 35 of A Shot Glass of Recovery, Lisa M takes a deep dive into Chapter 7 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous—Working with Others (pg. 94-97). This insightful chapter provides guidance on how to be a sponsor and work with newcomers in recovery.
Lisa highlights key reminders from the text, such as the importance of the prospect having a genuine desire to stop drinking and recognizing that we cannot work the program for someone else. Recovery is a program of action, and sometimes the most hopeless and desperate among us become the luckiest. Through their desperation, they find two of the most valuable gifts: honesty and willingness.
These qualities are crucial tools that help us take the necessary steps to achieve and maintain sobriety, one day at a time.

Well for Dave it's Little Dave, for Lisa it's Little Lisa...you get the picture. This inner voice—the relentless narrator in your head—constantly comments on the world, other people, and yourself.
Dave dives into how this voice swings between extremes, inflating your ego one moment ("Don't they know who you are?") and tearing you down the next ("You're a worthless waste of space"). Listen as Dave explores how recognizing and managing this inner critic is essential to staying grounded and committed to recovery.
