Welcome to Last Call, a look at the biggest stories Jim and Greg covered over the past week on the 3 Martini Lunch.
This week they discuss the passing of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Secretary of State Marco Rubio's brutal takedown of Marxist and far left political movements, California Rep. Ro Khanna’s dramatic “detention” by the IDF in the West Bank, and whether Daylight Saving Time should be made permanent.
First, Jim and Greg recoil at the shocking death of Sen. Graham, who passed away suddenly over the weekend at age 71. They reflect on his lasting legacy in foreign policy, as a champion for pro-life legislation, and more. They also discuss replacing Graham in the Senate.
Next, they applaud Sec. Rubio's excellent speech contrasting the ugly, brutal, unimaginative reality of Marxism vs. the beauty, goodness, and ingenuity of free societies. Jim and Greg also welcomre this very clear denunciation of where the Democratic Party appears to be heading.
Then, Jim and Greg turn to Rep. Ro Khanna’s trip to the West Bank. Khanna claims he was detained by the IDF during a confrontation with local settlers. Jim and Greg explain why Khanna’s account is exaggerated and how this was an obvious political stunt.
Finally, they close with a highly skeptical look at a House-passed bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. Jim and Greg dismiss the change as a bad idea that’s already a proven failure. They also see it as a desperate stunt by an unpopular Congress trying to look busy.

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into Secretary of State Marco Rubio's brutal takedown of Marxist and far left political movements, President Trump's speech on Chinese efforts to influence and meddle in our elections, the dumpster fire of a Senate debate among Maine Democrats, and revelations about Eric Swalwell's buddy, Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego.
First, they applaud Sec. Rubio's excellent speech contrasting the ugly, brutal, unimaginative reality of Marxism vs. the beauty, goodness, and ingenuity of free societies. Jim and Greg also welcomre this very clear denunciation of where the Democratic Party appears to be heading.
Next, they tackle President Trump's speech detailing partially declassified intelligence on China's efforts to interfere in the 2020 elections, the U.S. intelligence community keeping this evidence from Trump and the public, how our election systems are vulnerable to mischief and more. Jim explains why he was deepy frustrated by the speech and why the documents don't seem to deliver what Trump suggested.
Then, they get a kick out of the awful Democratic U.S. Senate debate in Maine Thursday night. The New York Times said the prominent candidates struggled mightily, and the gadfly candidates were even more bizarre. Jim and Greg go over some of their favorite moments.
Finally, they react to a New York Post report on the sexual relationships Sen. Ruben Gallego had with staffers from other offices. Already reeling from his close connections to disgraced former California Rep. Eric Swalwell, this is more bad news for Gallego, who is pretty clear about his ambitions to run for president.

Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss a new Michigan poll exposing a stark demographic divide in the progressive movement, more and more House Democrats to block security assistance to Israel, a partisan double standard from Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, and whether Daylight Saving Time should be made permanent.
First, Jim and Greg dive into a Michigan U.S. Senate primary poll showing far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed dominating among college-educated whites while Rep. Haley Stevens leads with Black and working-class voters. They analyze the irony of a socialist movement failing to win over the actual working class, noting that far-left progressivism remains largely confined to college campus bubbles.
Next, they react to a House vote where half of Democrats joined GOP Rep. Thomas Massie in trying to block more than $3 billion in security aid to Israel. Jim and Greg argue that abandoning a key ally undermines American foreign policy, with Jim warning that congressional hostility has crossed from anti-Zionism into outright antisemitism.
Then, Jim and Greg call out Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse for suggesting that domestic abuse allegations should be treated with skepticism if the victim is a Republican. He’s also dead wrong in his efforts to dismiss the conservative accuser of Graham Platner. Jim and Greg blast the remarks as a grotesque new low for partisan tribalism.
Finally, they close with a highly skeptical look at a House-passed bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. Jim and Greg dismiss the change as a bad idea that’s already a proven failure. They also see it as a desperate stunt by an unpopular Congress trying to look busy.

Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the recent testimonies of U.S. Supreme Court justices over threats they face, Maine Democrats racing to find a replacement nominee for Graham Platner, DEI policy’s reverse discrimination effects, and a new congressional bill requiring lawmakers to disclose extended absences to the public.
First, Jim and Greg react to SCOTUS Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan testifying in Congress and raising concerns over their security. Barrett had to wear a bulletproof vest after the decision to reverse Roe v. Wade was leaked and her family was targeted in a swatting attempt. Jim argues that conservative justices are particularly targeted in acts carried out by radicals on the left.
Next, they cover the scramble by Maine Democrats to find a Senate nominee to run against Sen. Susan Collins. On July 25, 601 Democrats will vote for potential candidates. And the whole process must be over a week from Saturday. Jim and Greg explain how this process is pathetic.
Then, Jim and Greg blast the obvious discrimination effects from DEI policy, affecting whites and Asian Americans, as well as blacks and Hispanics. They point to yesterday’s testimony from Inez Stepman of Independent Women (and a frequent 3 Martini Lunch guest host, who said we should “judge by merit, not by immutable characteristics.”
Finally, they address New York Rep. Ritchie Torres’s proposed Duty of Transparency Act, which would mandate Congress members “to give constituents timely notice of an extended absence from voting.” In light of prolonged absences for members of Congress who failed to adequately disclose reasons for their absences, Jim and Greg say this bill is headed in the right direction.

Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss Hunter Biden’s media appearance with Nick Fuentes, the latest inflation rate and its effect on the midterm elections, President Trump’s planned Thursday speech regarding foreign government interference in the 2020 election, and the appointment of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s sister to his U.S. Senate seat.
First, Jim and Greg react to Hunter Biden appearing with Nick Fuentes on YouTuber Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 show. They slam the toxicity of both Fuentes and Biden and criticize media attempts to frame Hunter as making a comeback.
Next, they respond to the Consumer Price Index report of annual inflation slowing to 3.5 percent in June, which is lower than expected, but still too high for consumers. They consider how Republicans should address affordability, emphasizing that poor perceptions of the economy can translate into negative election results for the GOP.
Then, Jim and Greg cover reports that President Trump plans a prime-time address on Thursday allegedly touching on foreign meddling in the 2020 election. Jim explains why he believes the president would be better served emphasizing issues that more directly impacting Americans today.
Finally, they question the process for selecting interim U.S. senators following the appointment of Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darlene Graham Nordone, to fill her brother’s seat. Jim dislikes governors chosing family members for the role, but he says it's unlikely Nordone will depart from her brother’s voting behavior.

Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the passing of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a new "proof-of-life" photo of Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell that has failed to quiet online skepticism, California Rep. Ro Khanna’s dramatic “detention” by the IDF in the West Bank, and an encouraging update on former Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse’s ongoing battle with cancer.
First, Jim and Greg recoil at the shocking death of Sen. Graham, who passed away suddenly over the weekend at age 71. They reflect on his lasting legacy in foreign policy, as a champion for pro-life legislation, and as a public servant who commanded genuine bipartisan respect. South Carolina's governor will appoint a temporary placeholder until a special primary election takes place in August.
Next, they react to an official photograph and statement released by Mitch McConnell’s office following his four-week hospitalization. He reportedly fell in his home and was briefly unconscious before catching a mild case of pneumonia. Despite the picture of him with a newspaper, conspiracies and suspicion still run rampant online.
Then, Jim and Greg turn to Rep. Ro Khanna’s trip to the West Bank. Khanna claims he was detained by the IDF during a confrontation with local settlers. Jim and Greg explain why Khanna’s account is exaggerated and how this was an obvious political stunt.
Finally, they close with an update on former Sen. Ben Sasse’s ongoing battle with terminal pancreatic cancer. Jim and Greg praise his immense courage and resilience as he continues to defy his initial prognosis.

Welcome to Last Call, a look at the biggest stories Jim and Greg covered over the past week on the 3 Martini Lunch.
This week they discuss the many Candace Owens conspiracy theories proven wrong in this week's hearings in the Charlie Kirk murder case, the end of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran, a new Federal Reserve study linking rising housing costs to Biden-era mass immigration, and the Mitch McConnell mystery.
First, they walk through the mountain of evidence revealed in the preliminary hearings for the case against Tyler Robinson, who is accused of murdering Charlie Kirk last year in Utah. They walk through the the facts and how they blow up so many conspiratorial narratives put forth by Candace Owens and others. But they doubt the conspiracies will stop.
Next, they react to President Trump’s deep frustrations with Iran. Speaking from the NATO summit, Trump declared the memorandum of understanding "over," calling the Iranian regime "scum" and "sick people" who cannot be trusted. This follows a major escalation last night, when the U.S. and Iran traded heavy missile strikes.
Then, Jim and Greg dive into a new Federal Reserve working paper that links the Biden-era immigration wave to skyrocketing housing costs. The study reveals that the massive surge in housing demand, without a matching increase in supply, drove up home prices by 30 percent and rent by 20 percent.
Finally, they cover a major update on Mitch McConnell’s weeks-long hospitalization. While top Republican senators claim to have spoken with McConnell over the phone to confirm he is alert, the strict secrecy surrounding his condition has left many deeply skeptical.

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they walk through the many Candace Owens conspiracy theories proven wrong in this week's hearings in the Charlie Kirk murder case, a surprising new poll of American Jewsish voters, a Wisconsin candidate using the Green Bay Packers as an example of socialism, and Apache helicopter pilots cleared after a controversial flyover last week.
Next, they react to an AP poll of Jewish Americans that shows they approve of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani much more than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Jim explains why this is not a huge surprise to him but how it's also a disturbing result.
Then, they laugh as a socialist running for governor in Wisconsin uses the Green Bay Packers as a positive example of socialism. Jim and Greg explain why the far left is using rhetoric like this and why the the Packers analogy is ridiculous.
Finally, they react to eight South Carolina Air National Guard Apache pilots getting suspended for their conduct during a beach flyover but having those suspensions lifted by Sec. Pete Hegseth.

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager Scot Bertram is in for Jim for Thursday's 3 Martini Lunch. Today, Scot and Greg discuss Graham Platner exiting the Maine Senate race, the media's horrific performance on the Platner story, Bernie Sanders' other radical Senate hopeful in Michigan, and a pointless political controversy over coffee.
First, they react to Platner's egotistical explanation for why he's being forced out of the Maine U.S. Senate race- it's the political establishment rather than his own mountain of scandals. Scot explains why he's suprised Platner withdrew so quickly, and they also discuss what impact a different Democrat will have on the race against GOP Sen. Susan Collins.
Next, Scot and Greg skewer the media for their abysmal coverage of Platner. From the New York Times trying to discredit an earlier Platner accuser because she's a Republican to MSNOW admitting it only believes accusers who are Democrats to other lefties now pretending they were duped by Platner, it's been a total disgrace. And yet, they've likely learned nothing.
Then, they shift to the Democratic U.S. Senate primary in Michigan, where Bernie-Sanders backed Abdul El-Sayed appears to lead Rep. Haley Stevens. But El-Sayed is also on the defensive about his call to abolish ICE, blaming Israel for virtually every problem in America, and lying about his medical background. Will any of it matter when voters go to the polls next month?
Finally, they sigh as a Milwaukee coffee shop issues an apology for taking a photo with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz on Wednesday.

Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the fallout from Graham Platner’s latest scandal and his leverage over picking his replacement, the end of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran, a new Federal Reserve study linking rising housing costs to Biden-era mass immigration, and the most recent development in the Mitch McConnell health story.
First, Jim and Greg examine Graham Platner’s final days to formally withdraw from the Maine Senate race. Although Platner’s campaign is effectively over, he still holds the cards as there is no formal way for Democrats to force him to resign. Many speculate he is using this leverage to pick his replacement.

Radio host Craig Collins, host of The Craig Collins Show, fills in for Greg on the Tuesday 3 Martini Lunch. Join Jim and Craig as they discuss the latest scandal engulfing Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner, the instability of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, the secrecy surrounding Sen. Mitch McConnell’s ongoing hospitalization, and Team USA’s World Cup run coming to an end.
First, Jim and Craig examine the latest allegations against Graham Platner, which they argue have effectively ended his campaign. Platner's former girlfriend Jenny Racicot has publicly accused Platner of sexually assaulting her during a 2021 incident. In the wake of the accusation, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), and Senate Majority PAC all withdrew their endorsements.
Next, they analyze rising tensions threatening the fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire after reports that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missile strikes against two commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Jim and Craig argue the attacks cast serious doubt on Iran's commitment to peace negotiations.
Then, Jim and Craig comment on the ongoing secrecy surrounding the hospitalization of Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, who has remained hospitalized since June 14. They also examine the broader debate over aging political leaders remaining in office, noting that McConnell has served in the U.S. Senate since 1985.
Finally, they break down Team USA’s tough 4-1 loss to Belgium in the second round of World Cup knockouts last night. The match was surrounded by intense controversy after FIFA suddenly overturned a red-card suspension for American forward Folarin Balogun, following a phone call from President Trump to FIFA President Gianni Infantino requesting a review.

Radio host Craig Collins, who hosts The Craig Collins Show, fills in for Greg on the Monday 3 Martini Lunch. Join Jim and Craig as they discuss Team USA star Folarin Balogun’s return after his red card suspension was rescinded, the release of a Chinese Christian pastor from a Chinese prison, Michigan State Sen. Mallory McMorrow’s decision to drop out of the U.S. Senate race, and predictions for tonight’s USA-Belgium World Cup matchup.
First, Jim and Craig celebrate the return of top-scorer Folarin Balogun to Team USA’s second match in the World Cup knockout rounds today. Balogun received a controversial red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, which required a one-match suspension. President Trump called FIFA president Gianni Infantino to review Balogun’s red card, sparking outrage from the Belgian team set to play Team USA tonight.
Next, they cover the release of Chinese pastor Ezra Jin after nine months in prison following Beijing’s crackdown on his unregistered house church, Zion Church. After President Trump personally raised Jin’s case with Xi Jinping during a May 2026 state visit, Jin was released and safely returned to the United States. The move is being viewed as an effort by Beijing to bank goodwill with Washington.
Then, Jim and Craig react to Michigan State Sen. Mallory McMorrow’s sudden decision to suspend her U.S. Senate campaign just weeks before the Michigan primary. Her unexpected exit leaves a clear matchup between establishment favorite Haley Stevens and progressive Abdul El-Sayed.
Finally, they give their predictions for tonight’s Team USA matchup against Belgium as the Americans look to advance in the World Cup knockout stage.

Welcome to a special edition of Last Call, which brings you the best of the week from the 3 Martini Lunch! However, as we mark 250 years today since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In this edition, Jim and Greg will share their favorite depictions of the American Founding and our Founding Fathers .
First, they head to television, as Jim showcases the popular miniseries George Washington in the 1980's and Greg points to a specific episode from one of the most popular sitcoms of that decade, Family Ties.
Next, Jim recommends the HBO series focusing on a Founding Father who deserves more attention - John Adams. That series was based off a book by famed historian David McCullough. Greg highlights another McCullough book plus a two-volume set of novels that are good for any age.
Then, Jim dives into the popularity of the Broadway hit Hamilton, which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton and so many others from that era. Greg gives a shout out to the Mel Gibson movie, The Patriot.

Join Jim and Greg for a special Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss many different reasons why they love the American Founding and why we all ought to be grateful to be the heirs of that amazing era in history.
First, Jim is thankful for the incredible collection of intellect, wisdom, and courage of our founders. From Washington to Adams to Jefferson to Hamilton to Franklin and many others, he says America was blessed with the right leaders at exactly the right time. Greg focuses on the revolutionary ideas of that movement.
Next, Jim points to some of the flaws that have come out about our Founding Fathers over the past 250 years. But he explains how those flaws actually help him appreciate our founders more. Greg takes a similar line of thinking by noting that "all men are created equal" was not a reality at the time but Jefferson's words became rallying cry to bring change during the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement.
Then, Jim shows some love to the allies that helped us defeat the heavily-favored British Empire. And it wasn't just the French. Greg applauds one of the most critical moments of the founding era, thanks to George Washington.

Radio host Craig Collins, who hosts The Craig Collins Show, fills in for Greg on the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch. Join Jim and Craig as they discuss Team USA's historic World Cup win, a weak June jobs report, and the hypocrisy of the media deeming it unfair to call the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) communists while being quick to call those on the right fascists.
First, Jim and Craig celebrate the success of Team USA in the first elimination round of the World Cup, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the knockout round. They highlight the significance of this victory heading into the country’s 250th anniversary.
Next, Jim and Craig break down the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ June jobs report, where the unemployment rate ticked down to 4.2 percent but the U.S. added only 57,000 jobs against an expected 115,000. They point to the labor force shrinking by 720,000 people from May to June as a sign of a discouraged workforce.
Finally, Craig and Jim highlight that Republicans get called fascists like clockwork, while CNN's Kaitlan Collins rushes to argue it's unfair to call DSA communists. They mention New York Democratic congressional candidate Dalisa Avila Chevalier, who has called herself a communist and supports abolishing the police, as evidence the label holds up. Jim notes some DSA members openly say they want to seize the means of production.

Radio host Craig Collins, who hosts The Craig Collins Show, fills in for Greg on the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch. Join Jim and Craig as they discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on birthright citizenship, an NPR reporter’s erroneous reporting on Justice Samuel Alito’s retirement, and a New Jersey Congressman’s return to office after four months of leave, where he received treatment for depression.
First, Jim and Craig address the Supreme Court’s upholding of birthright citizenship and express their concerns with birth tourism. Given the Court’s interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment, Jim argues that any changes to birthright citizenship must come from lawmakers.
Next, they blast the major reporting failure by NPR reporter Nina Totenberg, who claimed Justice Alito was retiring, without sufficient confirmation. Totenberg claims to have misheard Chief Justice John Roberts mention retirements and jumped to the conclusion that he was referring to Justice Alito. NPR quickly retracted the reporting.
Finally, Jim and Craig react to Republican Thomas Kean Jr.’s return to Congress after taking a four-month sabbatical to deal with a depression diagnosis. Prior to speaking publicly about his departure, the Congressman had stated an undisclosed medical issue for the reason of his absence. Jim and Craig question whether Congress members with mental health diagnoses are apt to work in a career with immense scrutiny.

Join Jim and Greg for this special Tuesday 3 Martini Lunch. Today, they each focus on three stories that slipped through the cracks of media coverage and deserve a lot more attention, both at home and abroad.
First, Jim highlights just how dire the health of Social Security is, how big of a loss recipients are likely to suffer, and whether either party has any good ideas of how to deal with this. Greg hopes American voters are paying at least a little bit of attention to elections in Latin america, where in nation after nation, voters are giving socialists the boot. Will we learn the lessons they're trying to teach us.
Next, Jim updates the Russia-Ukraine war, including the ominous trend of Russian drones attacking Eastern European nations beyond Ukraine. Will the Trump administration address this issue? Meanwhile, Greg praises federal prosecutors for charging members of Antifa for plotting to impede ICE in Minneapolis. But he slams local prosecutors for not pursuing charges against the anti-ICE invaders of Cities Church.
Finally, Jim explains how Joe Biden's misguided promises of student loan debt forgiveness actually made life financially harder for those who took out the loans. Greg calls out the "independent" U.S. Senate candidates in Nebraska and Montana for fundraising through the left's Act Blue apparatus.

Join Jim and Greg for this special Monday 3 Martini Lunch, as they assess the state of the 2026 midterm elections, and give their current outlooks for which party has the advantage in winning control of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and key governor's races.
First, they look at the Senate. Republicans have a decent shot of holding their majority but it won't be easy. Jim and Greg point out the seat that Democrats will likely flip, the one Republicans might be able to flip, and the competitive races for several seats held by members of both parties.
Next, they assess the House of Representatives. With midterm momentum seemingly with the Democrats and the GOP holding a very slim majority, the left would seem to have the advantage. But the mationwide redistricting wars seem to favor Republicans. Still, even if Republicans succeed in winning most of these newly drawn districts, keeping the majority is an uphill climb.
Then, they examine several key governor's races, particularly in the traditional battleground states.

Welcome to Last Call, a look at the biggest stories Jim and Greg covered over the past week on the 3 Martini Lunch.
This week they discuss Texas U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico’s ridiculous comments on whiteness and masculinity, Tucker Carlson leaving the Republican Party, major wins for socialists in New York City congressional races, and a media narrative lamenting the impact of lower crime rates on local businesses.
First, they react to Talarico’s absurd statements in his latest podcast appearance. His streak of insane woke rhetoric continues as he says that his imagination is limited by his "whiteness and masculinity.” Jim and Greg wonder when the left’s obsession with identity will end.
Next, Jim and Greg react to Tucker Carlson's exit from the Republican Party. Despite speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention, Carlson now says he regrets his support for Trump and he denounces the GOP for its "betrayal of the American people.” Jim comments on the erratic state of politics today and both wonder what Tucker’s next move might be.
Then, they wince as avowed Marxists win the Democratic nomination in three New York City congressional districts. They were all endorsed by socialist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Is this additional proof that open socialists are taking over the Democratic Party or will their radicalism actually help Republicans in November?
Finally, they laugh at the media's attempt to frame falling crime rates as a negative development. Oakland, California has seen a significant reduction in car break-ins, but some reporting has focused on the impact that fewer repairs could have on auto glass businesses. Jim and Greg discuss how the coverage unintentionally falls for one of economics’ most basic fallacies.

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into the U.S. Supreme Court once again protecting our Second Amendment, the left calling for a $25 per hour minimum wage, Democrats frustrated the World Cup has not been a disaster, and remembering respected pollster Glen Bolger.
First, they applaud the Supreme Court for striking down a Hawaii law that required residents to get permission from stores and other public places before they were allowed to carry guns there. Despite the 6-3 decision, Jim expects Democrats to push very similar legislation again, only to have it smacked down at the Supreme Court again.
Next, they groan as the left keeps pushing a much higher minimum wage as a solution to the rising cost of living, despite all evidence to the contrary. Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy is pushing a nationwide minimum wage of $25 per hour. Jim and Greg explain how this will only make things more expensive and result in more people losing their minimum wage jobs.
Then, they're disgusted by a Politico story explaining how many Democrats were hoping the World Cup would be a logistical disaster so they could blame President Trump. So far, it's going well, and Democrats aren't very happy about it. Who thinks like this?
Finally, they pay tribute to GOP pollster Glen Bolger, who passed away Thursday at the age of 63. Jim remembers Bolger as a very good pollster and an even better man.
