    ABOUT:

I’m Molly. I’m 36 years old and live in the Bay Area with my husband and dog. During 2020 I, like many, found comfort and delight from the prestige ESPN miniseries The Last Dance. But this delight was cut with frustrated Stirrings caused by championship coach Phil Jackson. Phil’s showy thoughtfulness, “this book will change your life” relationships with the Bulls, and The Photo (shown left) made him more to me than Phil Jackson. He became Every Guy Who Hurt You. He represented a very specific all-American archetype—and in my own life, my feelings towards Phils are unresolved.

How fortunate I was, then, to stumble upon a box of audio recordings made by people who were fucked by Phil Jackson, literally and figuratively. They feature men and women from his childhood to right before his massive success using the philosophies and techniques he stole from them. And how extra-fortunate I was, after finishing the transcriptions of these recordings, to be rewarded by being sucked into a time vortex in my very own neighborhood where I travelled back and met Young Phil in the flesh. (I’ve included that story at the very end.)
