犯罪不思議:講者為蔡宇哲與戴伸峰教授,談犯罪心理學,以及更深入地談犯罪案件背後的脈絡與成因。

The pioneering surgeon Dr. Joseph Murray received the 1990 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his accomplishments in transplant surgery, including the first transplant of a human kidney from a living donor, an event that opened the door to the entire field of transplantation surgery. He was first inspired to become a surgeon by his childhood experience with a family doctor. He graduated from Harvard Medical School, but his residency was interrupted by service in World War II. During the war, he learned the techniques of plastic surgery; he later applied the methods of skin grafting to the transplantation of organs. For many years, Dr. Murray was Professor of Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He is now retired from active practice. In this podcast, recorded at the Academy of Achievement's 1991 Summit in New York City, Dr. Murray recalls his career as a surgeon, including his early experience with kidney transplants and his pioneering work correcting congenital facial deformities in young children. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between work and family life and reminds the students that "service to society is the rent we pay to live on this planet."

Our stories may be drawn from contemporary sources, or from some dusty near-forgotten tome. Regardless it is a treat like no other to listen to the stories & tales presented in a "live" format with the emotion and feeling a true professional storyteller brings.
The Seanchai's job is much more than purely entertainment. The Seanchaí is the custodian of stories and traditions in need of preservation, and possesses the skill to ignore the inhibitions of modern day stifled conversations and instead focuses their attention on presenting those of us with keen ears - with the stories of the past, sometimes the present and, perhaps, even of what's to come.
The infectious tones that we hear from their lips allow us to momentarily slip away from the modern day and very real world and conjure up images of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy.

It turns out when you strip away the religious and institutional covers from the ancient masters, you can see that they figured out how to feel happy, healthy and fulfilled and told us how to do it. The practices they espoused like meditation and prayer are only now being demonstrated by scientists to transform mood and outlook at the least and permanently alter human consciousness. But just learning to meditate, practicing mindfulness, or learning how to sense and move your energy isn't enough to continue to make progress and get the most out of the time spent on these mystical practices. You need a framework in which to practice these ancient techniques. Unfortunately, if you don't want the layers of institutional confusion and control that come with religion, it is difficult to know where to begin and who to trust. In the tradition of "Dharma talks," this podcast addresses that gap. It breaks these mysterious teachings of old down into contemporary language so that we can all benefit from the profound insights into the human condition provided to us by the likes of Buddha, Jesus, Lao Tzu and so many others. And rather than dwelling entirely on esoteric texts, we anchor many of the teachings on great quotes from Star Wars, The Last Airbender, Kung Fu Panda, Harry Potter and other classics from our modern mythical toolbox.
