मान्यताओं के अनुसार देवगणों में प्रथम पूज्य श्री गणेश को संकट हरने वाला माना गया है। इसलिए जो भी दुख सुख में विघ्नहर्ता गणेशजी के मंत्रों जाप करता है और पूजा करता है उसे सर्व सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है। गणपति जी का अथर्वशीर्ष स्त्रोत का पाठ करते हुए संपूर्ण सामग्री का प्रयोग करना चाहिए। जिसमें कुछ सामग्री जैसे की सुगंध, अक्षत, पुष्प, धूप, दीप व नैवेद्य आदि शामिल हैं इन्हे पूजन के समय अर्पण करने से गणेश भगवान प्रसन्न होते है इनके साथ ही दुर्वा भी चढ़ा सकते हैं। लाल व सिंदूरी रंग गणपति जी को बहुत प्रिय है लाल रंग के पुष्प से पूजन करें। भगवान गणेश के नाम से ॐ गं गणपतये नम: मन्त्र को का जाप करते हुए विधिवत पूजन करें। भगवान श्री गणेश जी के अथर्वशीर्ष स्त्रोत का पाठ करना चाहिए। इससे घर और जीवन के अमंगल दूर होते हैं।
