Why Performance Optimisation is more than just skills...Most people think success comes down to;👉🏼 Focus your skills in one area👉🏼 Work harder👉🏼 Work Moregame over, right?❌ Wrong High performers don’t just rely on skillThey optimise their body, mind, and energy like a Formula 1 carBecause at the highest level, skill gets you in the gamebut performance keeps you winning (and who doesn't love to keep winning)🔥 If your nervous system is fried, your decision-making tanks🔥 If your recovery sucks, your execution slows down🔥 If your energy is drained, you’re leaving opportunities on the tableThat’s why in the Always Another Game Podcast Episode today, I break down what separates those who burn out from those who dominate long-termWe go beyond tactics and I share the key reasons why I never reached my peak in Ice HockeyAnd how I use those losses to fuel my success todayPeak performance isn’t just about knowing what to doIt’s about having the energy, resilience, and clarity to do it at the highest level, every single timeIf you want to stop playing the game and start owning it, this is the episode for you

A Midlife Crisis at 11 years old with Mo Farrah’s training partner
Safe to say today’s guest kept me on my toes with this interview
Because if a challenging childhood wasn’t enough of going through Alopecia and succumbing to bullying
Adam Strong went through what he described a Mid Life crisis at 11 years old
Growing up in a council estate with not much money
Adam found his entrepreneurial feet by selling golf balls he found In the stream
Not only that this below average athlete decided to take up long distance running
Which took him to a place that he never knew he needed
And he became not only Mo Farrah’s training partner but a friend of the Mo Bot too
There is no time to waste
Lace up those spikes and run on over to check this awesome episode out

AAG is back with it’s first interview episode of 2025

Do you prefer Playing on the Edge?
This was something that was drilled into us at a young age
That to be up there with the best you have to play of edge
Playing safe within sport wasn’t an option to stand out and succeed
And if you think about it now everyone you likely look up to in life
In some way stands out because they dare to be different
To do things that the majority won’t do
In today’s Shaun Short episode on the Always Another Game Podcast I talk about my experience with playing on the edge
And how not only can that help you in sport
But within your business and your personal brand too
As it allows you to be your true authentic self and stand out from the crowd
Ready to push the boundaries a little bit
Go on I dare you

When you think about it we are all athletes
every day we wake up we aim to perform
whether that is at home
at work
or with our health
Our aim is to be at our best
and today's guest Greg Fearon teaches this with his clients while working as a Nutrition and Mindset Coach
Being a late bloomer in sport due to his weight struggles, Greg found he had an incredible talent for Sprinting and Football
which finally led him down the path of Kung Fu after being inspired by Jackie Chan
Today Greg helps his mainly female client base overcome the same challenges he had in life by inspiring them by helping them learn that how you do something is how you do everything
are you ready?
Because everyone was Kung Fu Fighting
but now they're tuning into this episode instead

What if the cards are stacked against you?
because life is challenging
and more often than not the odds are against us
So when it does get tough how do you manage those tricky times?
Back when I played there would be times that I would thrive against adveristy
and other times when I would find it difficult
the biggest difference in these scenarios was that internal belief
Which is something I have dug deep on since i've finished playing
come and join me today as I share a story from a memorable game later on in my career
and lets take you internally to help you thrive when the cards are stacked against you

Inside the mind of the one that goes inside the athlete’s mind
I used to think sports psychology was woowoo
I tried it once for a minute and wrote it off
Yet there is a reason why many professional sports now have their own highly skilled staff looking after their players mental well being
Because without it then you will never see a peak physical performance
And on today’s episode of Always Another Game Podcast I have the pleasure of talking to Manchester Storm Ice Hockey Club’s Well Being Consultant Liz Stewart
I broke a few of my own rules here today because Liz didn’t grow up with a sporting story
Yet she is involved in one of my core values of this podcast and that is supporting and looking after the well being on not just Ice Hockey Players but athletes
We discuss today the importance of the players having someone they trust they can talk to
And how priceless it is for a coach and organisation to have a person involved in your team getting the best out of your players
If you have every been interested in how your mental performance hugely affects your physical
Then you’re going to want to glide on over to hear what Liz has to say

Who is in your corner?
Do you know?
You know those people that would go to war for you and expect nothing in return
And their belief in you drives you forward into things you once though was impossible
Because on today’s Shaun Short episode we discuss the influence that certain people have in our lives
As many times an athlete has mentioned a Coach or Sensi that has made an incredible impact on their career and life
And I felt it would be great to dig a little deeper into this topic
Because sometimes you may not even know you had someone until you lost them
Don’t panic I’m not going to take up too much of your time with the Shaun Short episodes so you can fit one in today
I can’t wait to see you over there

“Injuries have shaped how I approach my career today”
These are the exact words of England Hockey Strength and Conditioning Coach and former Professional Ice Hockey player Rupert Quiney
From being inspired by his dad to play
Rupert has to over come all odds to make it pro
Growing up around a club that at the time was not playing at the highest level would seem too far fetched for a young athlete to stand out
Yet this didn’t deter Rupert
But due to a series of serious injuries he was forced to re think about what direction his career was going in
And now he gets to help young athletes avoid going through the pain and struggle he did
Which you can feel the passion he has for doing this in the episode today
Lets glide on over with me to listen to this one

I’ve never been a numbers guy…
The thought of any pressurised maths sends me into a bigger freeze state than Walt Disney
And many will argue and say that I need to get a handle on this
But in a team sport it doesn't matter if one player has scored 5 goals if you lose 8-5
You need the players who block shots, support you when you're down and bring the energy for the whole team just by how they show up
You see there are so many other ways to thrive away from numbers
Whether that is in your parenting
Personal Development
And
Business
And I share my thoughts on this powerful Shaun Short episode on the Always Another Game Podcast today
Short and Sweet just like me…
