A prisão do banqueiro Daniel Vorcaro jogou luz em evidências de uma fraude estimada em R$ 12 bilhões. Dono do Banco Master, Vorcaro foi preso pela Polícia Federal na noite da segunda-feira (17), no Aeroporto de Guarulhos, antes de embarcar para a ilha de Malta. Segundo os investigadores, o banqueiro tentava fugir do Brasil. Nesta terça-feira (18), outras seis pessoas foram presas pela PF na operação que mira um esquema de fraudes financeiras. Vorcaro foi preso horas após o consórcio liderado pelo grupo de investimento Fictor Holding Financeira anunciar a compra do Banco Master— e pouco mais de um mês após o Banco Central ter rejeitado a aquisição pelo BRB (Banco de Brasília). Também nesta terça, o Banco Central decidiu liquidar o Banco Master – o que, na prática, tira o banco do sistema financeiro brasileiro. Neste episódio, Natuza Nery conversa com os jornalistas Estevão Taiar e Fernando Torres, do Valor Econômico. Coordenador de economia em Brasília, Estevão explica quem é Daniel Vorcaro e como ele criou o Banco Master. Ele conta como o empresário de 42 anos levou o banco a um crescimento meteórico, ao vender títulos prometendo rendimentos muito acima do mercado. Depois, a conversa é com Fernando Torres, editor executivo do mesmo jornal. É ele quem relembra como esta é uma crise que se desenrola desde o ano passado. Fernando relembra como foi a atuação do Banco Central para barrar a compra do Master pelo BRB, o Banco de Brasília, e preservar o sistema financeiro. Ele explica também o que vai acontecer com os clientes que tinham investimentos no banco.
