I'm recording this one from my armchair. Which feels entirely appropriate, because what I'm about to share with you started in a moment of complete surrender. Not a boardroom, not a strategy session, not a list of goals. Just me, trusting that things would work out.
I've just come back from the most incredible weekend at Manifest in Newcastle (Canny Crystals and Mart Tweedy's extraordinary event) and it sent me straight back to the story that became the foundation of everything I now teach about magic manifesting. The story of an Apple Watch.
This episode is a mini masterclass. I'm giving you the complete five A formula, the one I've run as a Magic Manifesting Week multiple times, the one that has seen women in The Joy Rebellion manifest freedom funds, dream jobs, Caribbean trips, visibility they never thought possible, and daughters making football teams. It works. I also share the science that backs it up completely. The reticular activating system, Tara Swart's work on the mind, the Hawkins Scale of Consciousness. This isn't woo woo. This is how your brain actually works.
Come and get comfortable. This one's for you.
Favourite quotes from this episode
"When you get so fixated on the delivery being in a specific way at a certain time, it doesn't always work. But sometimes the universe can blow your fucking mind and it comes out of left field and gives it to you in a way you never expected."
"Our minds are our greatest asset. They can either fire you up or they can fuck you up. And you get to choose."
"Those who are certain of the outcome can wait and wait without anxiety." A Course in Miracles
"I don't have to sell anything. I just have to share my stories of my life. And that is the sell."
"It's like placing the order with Apple or Amazon. Place the order. And then hand it over."

This week Ali is sharing something close to her heart. Tom, her eldest son, has just finished his final A-level, and with it, an entire chapter of life has come to a close. In this episode she takes you into the lay-by on the side of the road where she had to pull over because the tears wouldn't stop. The full circle moment. The rush of pride, grief, love and terror all at once.
And from that place she asks a question that changes everything: why would you want to regulate this emotion?
This is an episode about emotions and why feeling them fully, all of them, is not something to be managed or controlled but something to be honoured. About the midlife transition so many women are standing in right now. About what it really means when the children start to fly. About why Ali refuses to call it empty nesting and what she's calling it instead.
If you're in this season, approaching it, or supporting someone who is, this one is for you.

This podcast is a A real masterclass, using my eighteen-year-old as the live case study.
If you wish to follow along with your chart, your child's chart or someone you know, you can download and get your chart here: https://www.alimortimer.com/human-design-introduction
My eldest son Tom finishes his final A level on Tuesday. Eighteen years old, the whole world in front of him, and a thousand possible paths to choose from. Uni, gap year, apprenticeship, something else entirely. How do we guide them without overriding them?
So this week on the Joy Broadcast, I'm doing something a little different. I'm pulling up Tom's Human Design chart in front of you and walking through, line by line, exactly how I'm using it to support him at this pivotal moment. His energy type as a Generator. His emotional authority. His G Centre. His 2/4 Profile. The three gates I'm watching most closely. The Triple Split that means he needs more space than most to make a decision.
I've had Tom's chart in front of me for five years now. It was first gifted to me by a coach back in 2021, and the closest way I can describe what reading it did for me was like looking into a mirror that had been really, really dirty and finally getting to clean it all off. That's what it does. It hands you back yourself. And once I'd had mine, I did Tom's, Will's and James's. We started using these charts almost like guidebooks for our boys, who are very, very different in how they live and how they make decisions. Honestly, I think every parent should be given one of these the moment they have a child.
The thing I want every parent to hear: The more we tell our children who they are, the harder it becomes for them to hear themselves.
So in this episode, I'm not telling Tom who he is. I'm using his chart to help him hear himself. And I'm walking you through exactly how to do the same for your child, whether they're standing at the school-leaver crossroads, navigating a friendship, choosing subjects, or simply trying to figure out who they are in the world.
What I'm doing differently with Tom right now: Stop asking them what they want to do with their life. Start asking them what would feel good right now. What feels frustrating. What feels yummy. What's being offered. What's being shown. That one shift, especially for Generator children, is how they will navigate unchartered waters.
My takeaway: Parenting isn't directing. It's recognising. Your child's design is already inside them, waiting to be seen. Human Design just helps you take the noise off so they can hear themselves, and so you can stop trying to mould them into a version that was never theirs. It's the permission slip for them to be themselves. And honestly, for us to let them.

This week I am letting you in on a very real, very honest moment. I went to the doctors for an HRT check this week and the scales told me I had put on three kilos. Once upon a time, that would have sent me into a flat spin. This time? I sat with it, got curious, and decided it was exactly what I wanted to talk about on the podcast.
My health, your health does not have to be complicated. And the women I work with, the ones running businesses and homes and families and ageing parents, do not need another twelve step protocol. They need it simple. They need it doable. They need it to fit into a life that is already full.
So I am walking you through my Three E's. The framework I come back to again and again, for health now and longevity long term.
Eat for fuel. What you are actually doing in your day decides what you need on your plate. Whole foods, good protein, plenty of water. Not fancy. Not complicated. Just real.
Exercise. Walk daily. Move daily. Add weight bearing work for your bones, your strength, your future self. It does not have to be hours in a gym or running a marathon (unless that brings you joy!)
Easy does it. The hardest one for me. Stillness, sleep, joy moments, the breath work, the meditation, the protected pockets of quiet to ensure your cortisol drops, your digestion turns back on, and your brain does its night time clearing out, which I learned through my research into Alzheimer's is so much more important than most of us realise.
This episode is part personal share, part practical framework, part gentle nudge to put yourself back near the top of your own list.

About this episode
This week's episode is my keynote speach recorded as a dress rehearsal before I delivered it live at Grantley Hall, for the brilliant charity SmartWorks, who help women back into the workplace after a loss of confidence.
Ten years ago, I had no confidence at all. I'd separated from James, lost my mum, left my corporate career, and I had two small boys and no idea who I was without all the things that used to define me. No title. No team. No map. No salary. No mum to call.
I had to build my confidence back from nothing.
This episode is the recipe I found. The five ingredients — and the one thing that binds them all together.
In this episode I walk you through my five ingredients of confidence: inner strength, self-leadership, courage, truth, and power and the one binding ingredient: JOY. Just On You.
My favourite line of the whole episode: joy isn't the reward for getting confident. Joy is the practice that makes confidence inevitable.

About this episodeI have a real bee in my bonnet about the phrase "imposter syndrome."
I want it banished.
In 1978, two psychologists coined a term that gave generations of brilliant, boundary-pushing, ambitious women the worst possible name for the voice inside them. They called her an imposter. They told us to distrust her. Silence her. Override her.
She isn't an imposter.
She is fear. And fear, when you understand her, is one of the most important voices in the room.
In this episode I walk you through:
– Why "imposter syndrome" is the most dangerous label we've handed to high-achieving women
– The only two fears you were actually born with (and what that means for every other fear running your life)
– Your Fear Gates in Human Design — what they are, where they live, and why knowing yours changes everything
– How to invite your fear friends in for coffee instead of trying to kick them out
– Why fear is evidence that what you're doing actually matters
If you've ever called yourself an imposter, or had that voice tell you you're not enough, not ready, not allowed, please listen to this one. And then share it with a woman who needs to hear it.
Mentioned in this episode📖 This week on Substack — Dear Boo, you were right. Vulnerability is the bloody stone. A letter to my 40-year-old self about the wheel I drew on a scrap of paper in 2016 and how it became the whole thesis of my life's work. → SUBSTACK LINK

About this episodeThis might be one of the most important conversations Ali has ever brought to The Joy Broadcast. It's the work she returns to with every Brilliance client. It's the work she returns to with herself, every morning, before her feet hit the floor.
Your values.
Not the easy answer of "integrity and honesty". The real ones. The ones you can rattle off when someone asks who you are. The ones that become your path, your conviction, your courage, your antidote.
Because as Ali says: when you know who you are, you can stand tall when the poison arrows come. You don't need to zip yourself up in an energetic sleeping bag. You don't need to be the eggshell, terrified of cracking. You get to be the peach, soft on the outside, with a kernel so strong the world can't break it.
What's inside this episodeA genuine, behind-the-scenes share, Ali reading from her own journal, walking you through:
Why values matter more than your job title, your achievements, or your CVThe peach vs. the egg: how values become inner strength rather than outer armourWhy values are the better, freer alternative to boundariesHow values become the antidote when someone tries to define you, attack you, or shrink youThe exercise: blank sheet, brain dump, cluster, distil. Finding the one word that carries it allAli's own six core values and what each one really means to her: Genuine, Generosity, Gratitude, Grit, Growth, GraceWhy she added Grace as a sixth value at the end of 2024: softening, surrender, dignified strengthHow to use your values as a lens on your big goals. The journal exercise Ali did when she declared she wanted to make a lot of money, have a lot of fun, and help a lot of people, and had to clean up every place that desire collided with who she is
A line worth holding onto"My values are the path I walk every day. I don't need boundaries, because I know who I am, and I know the path I'm walking."
Your invitationIf something in this stirred you, triggered you, activated you, that's the friction worth listening to. Go and do the work. Get the blank sheet. Write everything down. Cluster. Distil. Define. And then live them.

Welcome back after the Easter break. This week I'm sharing two tools I've been using personally and walking my Brilliance clients through over recent weeks — because when I find myself saying the same thing on repeat in private sessions, I know it's time to broadcast it.
The first is what I've started calling the shit and the diamonds — the recognition that life rarely hands you triumph in every area at once. Your career might be hitting milestones while your home life is heavy. Your relationship might be thriving while work is falling apart. The trick isn't to pretend the hard stuff isn't there. It's to stop letting it smother the good stuff. The woman in you holds the emotional work. The CEO in you leads the diamonds. Two hands. Don't clap them together.
The second tool is one I've been teaching for years and had a fresh personal breakthrough with this week — the Russian Doll effect. I don't believe in finding yourself or becoming her. I believe every version of you you've ever been is still valid, still wise, still part of who you are now. But sometimes, after a betrayal or a trauma, we leave a doll behind. We abandon a version of ourselves we decided wasn't safe to be anymore. This week I went back for two of mine, the trusting woman I left in 2016, and the financially independent corporate professional I left in 2014, and the relief of putting them back inside me is what this episode is really about.
This is deeper work than usual. Take it as an invitation.
"It's like you've got a pile of shit in one hand and a bag of diamonds in the other. Don't clap your hands together.""I don't believe in finding yourself. I believe in remembering yourself.""Every version of you is valid."

What do you wear on the day you've been made redundant? The day your confidence is on the floor? The day you're trying to remember who the hell you are without the job title?
This week on The Joy Broadcast, I'm joined by the wonderful Dahlia Stroud, someone I haven't seen for the best part of 15 years, since our Asda House days in Leeds. Dahlia went from Head of Commercial with a full diary and a ringing phone to "here one day, gone the next" overnight. And out of that lost-purpose, all-dressed-up-with-nowhere-to-go season, she built Stressed But Well Dressed, a podcast (and a philosophy) about the link between clothes, confidence, and mindset.
This one is for every woman who has ever asked herself, who am I now? and every woman who already knows that what she puts on in the morning is never really just about the outfit.

There's a reason you walk into some rooms and immediately feel at ease and others that leave you flat without knowing why. This week's guest has built her whole practice around that mystery, and the answer almost always comes back to one thing: colour.
Becky Harrison is an interior designer, psychology graduate, and Joy Rebellion member who brings a beautifully grounded, science-meets-soul approach to how we live in our homes. After 16 years in corporate project management — where her love for buildings quietly grew — she made the leap into design. Now she helps families create homes that don't just look good, but feel good. And she's doing it right now from inside her own renovation project, which makes this conversation all the more real.
We talk colour, obviously. But we also go much deeper: into fear, judgment, Feng Shui, the psychology of clutter, and why the first question Becky asks a client has nothing to do with their favourite shade.
Becky's quick-win tips you can use right now:
Create a joy corner — a dedicated spot in your home with the things that bring you joy close at hand: candles, crystals, books, whatever's yours. Having it set up means you can access joy quickly without hunting for it.
Build happy views — little vignettes at your desk or at the table. A piece of artwork, some flowers, something that catches your eye and delivers a small shot of dopamine while you work.
Bring in pops of colour through nature — daffodils on the windowsill, a yellow vase, an orange throw. Small changes to the colour in a room lift the energy, which lifts your mood.
Connect with Becky:

Becky works primarily across the south west of England but will travel for the right project. If you want to embrace colour in your home, she's your person.

As part of our Easter inspiration series, celebrating women who inspire me and whose stories I know will inspire you, I'm joined by the wonderful Steph McConachy, founder of Nine Lemons Feng Shui. We met through the magic of Instagram and our mutual friend Kimberly Gallagher, and I have loved watching Steph's extraordinary journey unfold. In just three months, she grew her audience from 3,000 to 30,000 followers and she credits Feng Shui.
This conversation is joyful, practical, and deeply moving. We talk about the power of your home to support your life, your business, and your healing, and how making small, intentional changes to your space can create profound shifts in everything from your visibility to your nervous system.
What We Cover
🍋 Why nine lemons? The story behind the name, from the power of the number nine in Feng Shui (we're in Cycle Nine!) and a secret nod to Real Housewives, to the Susan Jeffers "nine grid" and why a full life is the ultimate insurance policy.
🗺️ The Bagua Map explained. The nine areas of your life mapped to your home: knowledge, career, helpful people, family, health, children and creativity, wealth, fame and reputation, and love. Steph walks us through how she reads a floor plan and what she can tell about someone's life just from where the bathrooms are.
📈 How Steph went from 3,000 to 30,000 followers in three months by intentionally activating the fame, visibility and recognition area of her home, cleaning the windows, replacing dull bulbs, placing a plant, and setting clear, specific intentions.
🌿 The power of intention setting. Why Feng Shui is not just putting lemons on a bench. How to speak to your home, talk to your plants, and use the nine areas as a 3D vision board for the life you want to create.
🏠 Your home holds energy. Steph shares her deeply personal story of losing her son, buying a house in grief, and eventually using Feng Shui to reclaim her space and move forward. This led to her brand new programme Reclaim Your Space, for anyone navigating a major life transition.
💼 The command position. Why where you sit at your desk matters more than you think, how cortisol levels drop when your back is against a wall, and why so many brilliant women are running seven-figure businesses from a corner of the spare room, shoved aside for a bed that gets used seven nights a year.
🌍 Finding peace when the world feels uncertain. Why your home is your greatest source of empowerment right now, and the small acts of care that bring you back to safety.
Steph's Offers
Let It Go — a 7-day container to release "past self anchors" (not just decluttering, but energetically letting go) Reclaim Your Space — a brand new 4-week programme to shake the energy of your home through transition, grief, change, or a fresh start The Energetic Advantage — a 6-month deep dive (next round opening May)👁️ One-to-one work — private Feng Shui consultations, email me [email protected]Find Steph

This Easter, Ali wanted guests with real stories. not picture-perfect ones, but the kind with roller coasters, sharp turns, and joy found in the most unexpected places. Vics Endersby of Wonderland Blooms is exactly that. In this warm, funny, and genuinely inspiring conversation, Vicks takes us through the chapters of her life from the rug being pulled, to cleaning other people's bathrooms, to skydiving alone, to building a wedding floristry business she loves, working with Paula Rooney in Vienna and Italy, and raising a daughter who is already pitching her first wholesale deals at thirteen. This is a story about gut instinct, small daily joys, and what happens when you back yourself completely.
What We Cover
The rug pull. A decade ago, Vicks found herself cleaning toilets for a living, wondering how her comfortable, cottage-and-wood-burning-stove life had come undone. A marriage she thought was solid had quietly been heading elsewhere. When she found out, she did not wait. Scariest thing she had ever done. Most empowering thing she had ever done.
The rebuilding. Single parenting, cleaning jobs, a bakery run by a woman in her sixties who became an unlikely mentor, and eventually a role at Pig and Pastry in York
The sky stuff. Four solo skydiving jumps. Gliding lessons. A gyrocopter. All of it done alone, all of it in the period after her marriage ended. Her brain, she says, is quietest in freefall. Ali's theory: when you have already made the biggest leap of your life, throwing yourself out of a plane is just confirmation that you will always pull the chute.
The flowers. Vicks had always wanted to be a florist. It took a marriage, a rebuild, and a bolt-upright moment in bed next to her new husband Mark to say: I am starting a wedding floristry business from this garage. He said yes, dear.
The career that kept growing. From Friday flowers on a broken three-speed bike, Wonderland Blooms has grown into a full wedding floristry business. Vics has worked with florist-to-the-stars Paula Rooney in Vienna. She drove a van through Pisa on four hours' notice. She works alongside Kim at Dreambirds and Carousels on large-scale events.
The loss. Vicks lost her mum recently. She talks about grief with the same directness she brings to everything else it strips layers, she says. She has no time for imposter syndrome anymore. Life is for living.
The legacy. Vicks wants to write a book. A coffee table book, or something more, she is still deciding. She wants her children to know what those early Saturday mornings were for.
Joy, says Vicks, is in the small significant things, not the big dramatic ones. Her favourite colour grounds her on a hard day. That is enough. That is everything.

In this week's Joy Broadcast , Ali talks through two phrases you hear absolutely everywhere in the wellness world. Two phrases that most people don’t truly understand, including the difference between them. In this episode, Ali makes that distinction clear. Plus why 'Regulating' is the wrong word in both cases and what you can do and say instead.
In This Episode
Why ‘regulation’ is the wrong word and why it mattersYour nervous system: what it actually is, how it works, and why it’s prehistoric by designThe sympathetic and parasympathetic states and why we need bothThe real reason so many high-performing women can’t lose weight (hint: it’s not what you’re eating)Your emotional system: the ocean inside you, and how the mind makes sense of itWhy you can be emotionally intelligent and still absolutely exhaustedBody first, then brain, the sequence that changes everythingHow to work out which system needs your attention right now
The Key InsightYour nervous system is your physiology, the body, the container. Your emotional system is your psychology, the ocean of feelings held within that container. Most women are working hard on one and bypassing the other entirely. And if your nervous system is stuck in a stress response, your prefrontal cortex has gone offline, which means all the therapy, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence in the world can’t land properly.
Body first. Then the brain. The container, then the ocean.
“We aren’t heating systems with knobs. We are oceans. And you cannot calm an entire ocean with a knob.”

Ali woke up this week with a horrendous migraine and instead of pushing through or giving up, she did something else entirely. She 'joyed' her way out of it. In this honest, personal, and surprisingly practical episode, Ali shares exactly what she did hour by hour to heal herself using her own joy strategy and why this was a powerful reminder that joy isn't just a philosophy. It is a healer, a strategy, and a verb.
The Key Ideas
Joy is a verb. 'To joy' is to actively, deliberately choose yourself, your rest, your pleasure, your peace is the strategy. Not something you do after everything else. The thing you do first, or nothing else works properly.Frustration is a signal. As a Generator in Human Design, Ali knows that frustration is her not-self theme, the signal that she is out of alignment with her own energy. A migraine is her body's loudest version of that message. When she honours it, everything flows. When she ignores it, everything costs twice as much.Slowing down is not falling behind. In choosing to rest, write for pleasure, meditate, and walk slowly, Ali ended the day having done more than she had planned and all of it felt like ease.Joy is chemistry. The Daily DOSE (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins) is not a concept. It is a biological strategy. When you flood your body with these hormones through small, deliberate acts of joy, you change your internal chemistry. Ali has the OG joy list to prove it, a tiny scrap of paper she has kept since 2016.Resources Mentioned

In this meaty, educational episode, Ali takes you through one of the most powerful exercises she does with her private clients: identifying your core values. Because when you truly know your values, you have an anchor that nothing and no one can take from you. You have confidence that comes from within, not from external validation. And you have the most powerful antidote to anyone who tries to shame, judge, or hurt you.
This is the work that has given Ali the clarity to stand on stage, be visible, and receive both praise and criticism, all with an unshakeable sense of who she is.
What We Cover in This Episode
Why knowing your values changes everything When your inner world and outer world are aligned, living out of integrity with yourself becomes impossible. Ali shares how this work protected her in a pivotal moment and how it does the same for her clients every single day.
Values as your antidote When someone throws criticism, judgment, or hate your way, your values are the truth that makes their poison dissolve. Ali even uses them to identify why something is hurting, so she can let it go and move on.
Ali's own core values Grit. Grace. Gratitude. Growth. Genuine. Generosity. All beginning with G (because Ali loves alliteration and words are her love language). She walks you through how she arrived at each one, and why Grace was the newest addition and the one she still has to consciously remember.
The values discovery exercise — step by step
Grab a blank sheet of paper and write down everything you value in life. Fill the whole page. Don't edit yourself.Ask yourself: When did I feel really, really good about myself? Why? Who was I being? What was I honouring?Ask yourself: When did I feel really hurt or sad? What values were stepped on?Start grouping your words — find the one word that holds all the others for you.Make your list memorable. Alliteration, acronyms, whatever helps you know them off the top of your head.Living the practice Over the next week, witness yourself. When you feel good, which values are you honouring? When you feel off, which ones have been stepped on? This is a practice, not a one-time exercise. Keep coming back to it.

Welcome back to The Joy Broadcast and welcome to Year Two!
This first episode of season two is a declaration. A relaunch. And a reminder of why joy isn't just a nice idea, it's chemistry, biology, and physics. It's the most powerful strategy you have.
Ali opens with a confession: she took a break. She burned things down (very 3/6 of her), sat in the embers, and asked herself what this next chapter of the Joy Broadcast really needed to be about. The answer? Power. Not the soft version of joy, but joy as your sharpest competitive edge.
What We Talk About in This Episode
The evolution of the Joy Broadcast Year one was about survival: how to find joy when everything is falling apart. Year two is about something bigger: how to use joy as a strategy when everything is piling up and coming at you all at once. Same answer, different era.
Joy is not fluffy. Joy is science. Ali breaks down why joy operates across three branches of science and why that completely changes how you should think about it
Chemistry: Joy changes what you're made of. Biology: Joy changes how you function as a living system. Physics: Joy changes your frequency. The Magician card While writing her keynote speech, Ali pulled a tarot card — and out jumped the Magician. The reminder she needed: you are the magic. And magic is always the same formula: power + skill + action.
Fear as a messenger, not a shackle Fear comes up in client conversations every single week. Ali reframes it completely here: fear isn't your foe, it's your friend. It is one of your greatest guides.

THE JOY BROADCAST: BOO & BAMBI - A SISTER CONVERSATION ABOUT LOVE, NOSTALGIA & NOT THINKING ABOUT ANYONE ELSE
This February, we're exploring love beyond romance. In this special episode, I sit down with my sister Alex (affectionately known as Bambi or Bird) for an intimate conversation about sisterhood, meaningful connections, and the joy of just being yourself.
Fresh from our Maldives adventure celebrating my 50th birthday, we dive into questions about nostalgia, childhood memories, modern dating disasters, and what it means to truly switch off from responsibility.
IN THIS EPISODE:
On Nostalgia & Memory We explore what triggers our memories – from songs and smells to how differently we each process the past. I share how the anniversary of Mum's death affects me through snowdrops and Louis Armstrong, while my sister reveals she's more like Dad, able to leave the past in the past.
The Gift of Not Thinking About Anyone Else We discuss what made our Maldives trip so special: the rare luxury of focusing just on ourselves. No kids, no partners, no responsibility for anyone else's happiness – and why that's not selfish, it's essential.
The Wisdom of Empathy Alex shares her mantra shift from judgment to empathy – the story about ice creams on a winter school run that changed how she sees people's actions. We explore how we judge ourselves by our thoughts but others by their actions.
Childhood Memories & Growing Up From being mistaken for each other on phone calls to Dad, to childhood holidays where we didn't have to worry about anything, we reflect on how adulthood changes the way we experience time off.
JOY IS THE ACRONYM FOR JUST ON YOU
As I share in this episode, when you're holding so much – children, partnerships, work, household, pets, everything – your main job is to focus on your own energy. You have to spend time every single day focusing just on yourself so you can expand your capacity to hold everything else. Otherwise, you store up resentment, frustration, and exhaustion from over-giving.
This conversation is a reminder that the deepest connections allow you to just be yourself, say "I want to go to bed" on your 50th birthday at 10pm, and know there's no judgment. That's love too.

Are you playing it safe when your soul is whispering there's more to life? In this episode of The Joy Broadcast, Ali shares a powerful Joy Code about why movement is essential for happiness and when it's time to rock the boat versus when it's time to hold steady.
Drawing from conversations with Joy Rebellion members and her own experience of capsizing her life (and rebuilding it), Ali explores the tension between stability and growth, between contentment and that persistent inner voice saying "you're meant for more."
If you're feeling stuck in calm waters but restless for adventure or if you're in someone else's storm this episode is your permission slip.
What You'll Learn
Why happiness requires movement (according to Arthur Brooks, the "King of Happiness")The difference between intentionally rocking your own boat versus responding to someone else rocking yoursHow to know when it's the right time to make waves (and when it's not)Ali's South of France childhood memory that perfectly captures the joy of rocking the boatThe questions to ask yourself before making any big life changeHow to start rocking the boat gently without capsizing everything on day oneMemorable Quotes
"When you start to rock that boat, you're starting to make waves. And it's those waves that lead you to movement."
"Happiness to me is always the sense of movement of something better that's coming, something just around the corner."
"If you're playing it safe, how can you know where you're going to go? Safe to me is like hiding, it's staying small, it's staying where you are."
"You can't get to the next level without waves in whatever you want to do, wherever you want to go."
"The common thread in all of these is just to come back to you, just on you—your joy, your definitions, your truth, your knowing, your little voice and your boat."
Call to Action
Are you ready to rock the boat—or do you need permission to hold steady?
Ali would love to hear from you:

What if your definition of success was the thing secretly blocking your joy AND your wealth?
In this powerful episode, I'm kicking off a new series called Joy 101—101 ways to create, use, and bring more joy into your life. And we're starting with the code that changed everything for me nearly a decade ago: rewriting my definition of success.
Back in 2015, when I walked away from my 20-year IT consulting career, I wrote down three simple lines:
Success is loving what I do, loving who I do it with, and loving myself in the process.
That definition carried me through a full decade of transformation—from body dysmorphia and not being able to look in the mirror, to building The Joy Rebellion and creating my dream life.
But recently, after returning from the Maldives for my 50th birthday, I realised something had shifted. I'd achieved everything in that definition... and now it felt incomplete.
This episode is about what happened when I revisited that success definition and discovered the missing piece: money. Not money as greed, but money as the ROOF protecting everything I've built. Money as the overflow that benefits my health, my family, and my clients. Money as strategy, not reward.
In this episode, you'll discover:
→ Why your old definition of success might be keeping you stuck (even if it once served you beautifully)
→ The three foundational blocks that must come FIRST before wealth can flow
→ How to add "AND" instead of replacing what already works
→ Why women especially hold shame and resistance around making "a fuck ton of money"
→ The power of safe spaces where we can talk about money without being shamed or cancelled
→ How to write YOUR success definition for who you are TODAY (not who you were five years ago)
→ Why joy and wealth aren't opposites, they're partners
This conversation sparked something powerful in The Joy Rebellion membership, and I knew it needed to reach more women. If you've ever felt conflicted about wanting more money, or if you've achieved "success" but still feel empty, this episode is for you.
Action Steps:
Your Joy 101 Assignment:
Grab your journal and write YOUR definition of success for who you are TODAY, in this era of your life.
Ask yourself:
What does success mean to me RIGHT NOW (not five years ago)? What am I resisting that might be the missing piece?Where can I add "AND" instead of choosing between things I want? What would success feel like every single day?Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. This is JUST ON YOU.
Join the Conversation:
If this episode ignited something in you—if you want to explore your money blocks, rewrite your success definition, or have these deep conversations with women who GET IT—I'd love to invite you into The Joy Rebellion.
This is the space where we hold each other, where you don't have to hold everyone else, and where joy becomes your strategy, not your reward.

P.S. This is Joy 101, Code #1. There are 100 more coming. If you loved this, you're going to want to be inside The Joy Rebellion for all of them.
