Today, my daughter and I are having a very untraditional tea party. I built a hyper-realistic capybara cake sitting inside a fully functional, drinkable punch bowl! To keep a gallon of tea off my floor, I had to figure out how to disguise a basic plastic bowl as a weathered wooden barrel using just modeling chocolate, food coloring, and edible rust. Building and texturing the capybara was easily the best part of this project. The final result is insane - and yes, you can actually drink the tea right out of the cake! I spent over 40 hours building a hyper-realistic Tonkatsu Ramen bowl entirely out of cake! From the gravity-defying floating chopsticks to the pineapple-flavored broth, every single detail is edible. Making a cake look like soup is one thing, but getting the internal structure right so the chopsticks didn't snap the chocolate noodles was challenging on a whole other level. In this video, I'll show you the entire process of sculpting the chocolate bowl, torching the vanilla chashu pork, and the final reveal where I finally cut into it!
