Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, in which I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.
Although I don't usually mention Christmas until December, there are a couple of great albums out that will help us all get into the spirit of the season. My first features an old friend, trombonist, singer and composer Ashley Slater. His album Merry Jazzmas is out now and you can read my review of it here.
This is the second appearance for Ashley - the first was way back in April 2021 on episode 42.
Thanks to Ashley for letting me play tracks from the album alongside our conversation and I hope you enjoy listening to them.Get in touch to let me know what you think!

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, in which I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.
This episode features an extended conversation with my dear friend Michael Shapiro, who I wouldn't know if it wasn't for an introduction from Crossover Media's Amanda back at the start of Harmonious World. As well as our previous two interviews in 2020 and 2021, I have spent time with Michael in Milan (where his Frankenstein score was performed) and several times in London. His musical passion, intellect and wit come across - I hope - in this latest episode.
Alongside our conversation, you can hear extracts from Michael's flute concerto In The Light Of The Sun , performed by my previous guest Stathis Karapanos.Get in touch to let me know what you think!

This was my second conversation with Danae Xanthe Vlasse, a composer who is simply extraordinary. Her album Mythologies won a Grammy in 2022 and now Mythologies II is out, featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, sopranos Sangeeta Kaur and Hila Plitmann, tenor Omar Najmi and pianist Robert Thies.
I was so fortunate in being present at Abbey Road studios when some of this album was recorded, thanks to Danae and Maestro Michael Shapiro, my dear friend who invited me along to see him conduct this magnificent music.
This conversation was a delight to record and I'm looking forward to travelling to New York at some point to see Danae again and hopefully experience this music on stage. Welcome to a very special episode of Harmonious World, in which I speak to the team behind the Great British Music Camp, as well as tutors and campers. GBMC is all about collaboration and creativity and I hope this helps you get a taste of how amazing the last week has been.Get in touch to let me know what you think!

As if it's not enough that Aleksi Glick has appeared twice already on Harmonious World (in 2020 and in 2022), but this episode features two separate interviews: one online a few weeks ago and then a brief chat over a cuppa in Cambridge earlier this week.
Aleksi and I had a good chat online about his latest album - World Traveler. Then in person I asked him the question that I'll now be asking of all my guests: "What piece of advice or learning would you share to make the world a little more harmonious?"
Thank you to Aleksi for allowing me to play a selection of tracks from World Traveler alongside our conversation.Get in touch to let me know what you think!
