We already reviewed the big movie of the week -- that would be "Toy Story 5" -- so we wanted to tell you about a couple of cool, new indies on this Friday edition of Breakfast All Day:
THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD. Hugh Jackman stars in this darkly violent version of the Robin Hood legend. Specifically, he wants no part of it, and would rather live out his final days in peace. Michael Sarnoski's film is beautiful but brutal. Co-starring Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård and Murray Bartlett. In theaters.
LEVITICUS. Two young men (Joe Bird and Stacy Clausen) fall in love in a decaying Australian mill town. Religious leaders force them into a conversion therapy that makes them fear an enigmatic, threatening version of each other. Writer-director Adrian Chiarella executes this inspired horror concept extremely well in his feature filmmaking debut. In theaters.
MOVIE NEWS LIVE! This went extra long because there was so much to talk about, including the "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" trailer, Amazon dropping Luca Guadagnino's Sam Altman movie, Fox buying Roku, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at Sphere Las Vegas, and Ben Stiller's New York Knicks documentary. Got a couple of biggies for you on this midweek drop here at Breakfast All Day.
First, we review "Toy Story 5," the latest installment in the beloved Pixar Animation franchise. This is a step up from the fourth film, with some great new additions alongside the characters you know and love. Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack, Greta Lee, Tim Allen and Conan O'Brien co-star. In theaters June 19.
We also did a live spoiler chat about "Disclosure Day." There's so much we didn't want to discuss in our non-spoiler review of Steven Spielberg's new sci-fi epic, particularly the ending. But now that the film has been in theaters for several days, it's time to go in-depth. Listen and share your thoughts.

The big movie of the week is, of course, "Disclosure Day," which we reviewed in our last Breakfast All Day podcast episode.
But other movies do exist, namely "The Furious," a thrilling action film hitting theaters with a ton of well-justified buzz. It's as bloody as it is beautifully choreographed. Co-starring Xie Miao and Joe Taslim as unlikely allies teaming up to infiltrate a child trafficking ring in Southeast Asia. In theaters.

"Disclosure Day" is finally here, and we've got an early, spoiler-free review on this midweek episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast.
Steven Spielberg's latest sci-fi summer blockbuster finds Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor trying to understand their connection with the alien world, and each other. Co-starring Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson. It's in theaters June 12, but we wanted to talk about it as soon as we possibly could.

School's out for summer and we've got something for everyone on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. Here's what we reviewed:
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. It's yet another '80s nostalgia trip, this one inspired by the Mattel toys and cartoon series about He-Man and Skeletor. Director Travis Knight finds a cheeky, self-aware tone. Nicholas Galitzine, Jared Leto and Idris Elba star. In theaters.
SCARY MOVIE (2026). This is the sixth "Scary Movie" movie if you're keeping track, but the first one in a long time from the Wayans brothers. Name a recent horror movie and they're spoofing it here, with hit-and-miss results. In theaters.
OFFICE ROMANCE. Jennifer Lopez is back in rom-com territory as the CEO of an airline who falls for a new lawyer on her staff (Brett Goldstein, who also wrote the script with 'Ted Lasso" co-creator Joe Kelly). We don't agree on whether this raunchy comedy works. Streaming now on Netflix.

PRESSURE. We're catching up with this ultimate dad movie, which looks like it's about D-Day, but it's actually about weather. A solid, old-fashioned World War II drama. Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Damian Lewis and Chris Messina star. In theaters.
BACKROOMS LIVE SPOILER CHAT. There's so much we didn't want to ruin in our spoiler-free review of the A24 horror movie last week. But now that it's out -- and so many people have seen it -- we thought it was time to go more in-depth. This was a great conversation. We're kicking off the weekend with an absolutely packed episode of Breakfast All Day. Here's what we've got for you:
BACKROOMS. There's so much buzz and expectation about this steadily creepy horror movie from 20-year-old YouTuber Kane Parsons. It's definitely effective in creating a feeling of unease that lingers long afterward, and it's a wonder of production design. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as the owner of a furniture store who discovers a sprawl of surreal office spaces. Renate Reinsve is his therapist who tries to save him. Check back for our LIVE spoiler chat on Tuesday at Noon Pacific at our YouTube channel. In theaters. POWER BALLAD. Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas co-star in the latest from writer-director John Carney ("Once," "Sing Street," "Begin Again"). Rudd is a wedding singer who never made it big; Jonas is a pop star who wants to prove he's a serious artist. A night of drinking and collaborating leads to a smash hit, but the credit is in question. We don't agree on this one. In theaters in limited release before opening nationwide June 5. THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU LIVE SPOILER CHAT. Here we go into everything we didn't want to ruin in our non-spoiler review of the latest in the "Star Wars" saga. It's a long holiday weekend, so an extra-long episode of our Breakfast Al Day podcast seems fitting. Here's what we reviewed as we head into Memorial Day:
I LOVE BOOSTERS. Boots Riley is back with another maximalist, absurdist comedy. He follows up 2018's "Sorry to Bother You" with the story of a group of women who steal designer clothes and sell them at discount prices. Starring Keke Palmer, Taylour Paige, Naomi Ackie and Demi Moore. In theaters.
TUNER. The best new movie of the week. Oscar-winning documentarian Daniel Roher ("Navalny") makes his narrative feature debut with the story of a New York piano tuner (Leo Woodall) who uses his super-sensitive hearing to work as a safecracker on the side. Co-starring Dustin Hoffman and Havana Rose Liu. In limited release now, opening nationwide May 29.
IS GOD IS. We got a ton of requests to catch up with this stylish Southern thriller from last week, and we're so glad we did. Writer-director Aleshea Harris adapts her stage play about twins who go on a cross-country road trip of revenge against their father, who tried to kill their mother. Kara Young and Mallori Johnson are both tremendous. This is a must-see. In theaters.

It's not exactly an Arthouse Tuesday, but it is a Tuesday here at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we've got for you on our latest episode:
THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU (NO Spoilers!). We had a lot of fun with this standalone "Mandalorian" movie, a big-screen version of the Disney+ series. (We recapped all three seasons, in case you'd like to revisit the show with us at our Patreon; these videos are also available for individual purchase for our free members, as is the whole collection.) Pedro Pascal returns as the stoic bounty hunter, alongside his gifted, green sidekick, Grogu. They go on adventures across the galaxy. Summer is here! In theaters Friday.
OBSESSION. So many of you asked us to review this, so of course we had to do just that, even though Alonso is admittedly a chicken about horror movies. We both dug this one though, from YouTuber-turned-filmmaker Curry Barker. A meek guy (Michael Johnston) is too afraid to tell the girl of his dreams (a tremendous Inde Navarrette) that he's interested in her, so he buys a novelty item and makes a wish for her to fall in love with him instead. Things do not go as planned. In theaters now.

It's our 600th episode! And we're marking this auspicious occasion with one of our more random episodes. Here's what we reviewed this week on Breakfast All Day:
MORTAL KOMBAT II. This sequel was a huge hit last weekend, so we decided to catch up with it. Plus, we apparently reviewed the first "Mortal Kombat" five years ago, which wasn't a particularly memorable experience for either of us. Karl Urban IS Johnny Cage. As video game adaptations go, it's not terrible, but it's also not stupid enough. In theaters. MARTY, LIFE IS SHORT. The delightful Martin Short is the subject of this warm and affectionate documentary. Name someone you love from the Canadian comedy world and they're probably in this movie. Lawrence Kasdan's film features intimate home movies and candid interviews. Streaming on Netflix. THE PUNISHER: ONE LAST KILL. This one-off installment in the Punisher franchise finds Frank Castle contending with old demons and taking on new foes. Jon Bernthal is a formidable presence as always, and he co-wrote the script with director Reinaldo Marcus Green. Streaming now on Disney+. THE SHEEP DETECTIVES. Hugh Jackman stars as a shepherd at a cozy English farm. When he's murdered, the sheep try to figure out who committed the crime. This movie is shockingly great. Co-starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Nicholas Braun, Emma Thompson and Nicholas Galitzine. In theaters.
BILLIE EILISH - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D): The title is clunky but the movie is thrilling. Eilish co-directed this concert film with James Cameron, captured over four nights in Manchester during her "Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour." It's beautiful and vibrant, intimate and awe-inspiring at once. In theaters.
MOVIE NEWS LIVE! We're back after a week away to discuss "The Boys," "The Bear," "The Odyssey," the Met Gala, Ted Turner and more. We're off again next Friday, but come on back on May 22.

It's s super-stylish Saturday here at Breakfast All Day. We took Friday off to honor the May Day work stoppage, but we're back to kick off your weekend. Here's what we reviewed:
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2. Twenty years later, everyone's back at Runway magazine, but Runway magazine is a shell of its former self. This is a sad movie about the state of modern journalism, but the clothes are still fun. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt star. This one's gonna be huge. In theaters.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (2006). Of course we had to go back and review the original film, which was a massive, crowd-pleasing hit that remains infinitely meme-able. It's the definition of the breezy, escapist rom-com. The sequel is very different.
HOKUM. Adam Scott goes to Ireland and stays in a charming, countryside inn. Weird things start happening. Writer-director Damian McCarthy's film is a trip, and Scott is great in it. In theaters.
MILE END KICKS. We both loved this romantic comedy, which takes place in the cool Montreal neighborhood of Mile End. Barbie Ferreira stars as a young music critic who moves to the city in the summer of 2011 to cover its indie rock scene. From writer-director Chandler Levack. In theaters.

OVER YOUR DEAD BODY. Samara Weaving and Jason Segel play a miserable married couple who go on a weekend getaway to work on their relationship -- or so they've told each other. Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis co-star in this twisty action comedy from director Jorma Taccone ("Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping"). In theaters.
I SWEAR. Robert Aramayo was the surprise best actor winner at the BAFTAs this year for his portrayal of John Davidson, a Scottish man with Tourette syndrome. Writer-director Kirk Jones' film is formulaic in its depiction of adversity, but its heart is in the right place. Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Scott Ellis Watson co-star. In theaters.
MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Always a lot to talk about, including "Michael" reactions, early footage of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," casting on Alex Garland's "Elden Ring" movie and more. We won't be here next Friday in solidarity with a nationwide labor strike, but come back on May 8.

MICHAEL. It's the Michael Jackson movie. If you've seen a music biopic, you've seen this. Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, does a really impressive job of portraying the King of Pop. But we have lots of thoughts on this in our early review. Opens nationwide Friday.
THE CHRISTOPHERS. We're so glad we caught up with the latest from Steven Soderbergh, which came out while Christy was away on spring break. Michaela Coel plays an art forger hired to finish a series of canvases from a legendary, aging painter (Ian McKellen) before he dies. The two have terrific, snappy chemistry. In theaters now.

Between Mummy and Mother and Movie News, it's a marvelous Friday at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we've got for you:
LEE CRONIN'S THE MUMMY. A little girl disappears from her family in Cairo, only to return eight years later as ... well, she's no longer their little girl. The central mystery in writer-director Lee Cronin's reimagining of the Mummy mythology is what happened to her and how to unravel it. This movie is super gross. It's also way too long. In theaters.
MOTHER MARY. Anne Hathaway is a Lady Gaga-style pop diva with hopes of reinventing herself. The one person she can turn to for help is her longtime costume designer and collaborator (Michaela Coel), with whom she had a falling out years ago. The latest from writer-director David Lowery takes some wild swings and will be hugely divisive. In limited release this weekend, opening wide April 24.

First, we reviewed "Outcome," a star-studded satire from director, co-writer and co-star Jonah Hill. Keanu Reeves plays an A-list actor who must go on an apology tour when he becomes the target of an extortion scheme. This is not a good movie but it's got an incredible cast, including Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, Roy Wood Jr., Susan Lucci and Martin Scorsese. Streaming now on Apple TV.
Then, as promised, we did a LIVE spoiler conversation about "The Drama." There's so much we didn't want to ruin in our spoiler-free review of the Zendaya and Robert Pattinson movie, but now that it's been out for a little while, it's time to go in-depth. Let us know your thoughts!

MARC BY SOFIA. Sofia Coppola explores the life and career of her friend of 30-plus years, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, in this intimate and fascinating documentary. If you like process and '90s nostalgia, this one's for you. In theaters. MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS: PART 1- LAST AIR IN MOSCOW. This was on both of our top-10 lists last year, so we're thrilled that it's now available for you to watch, as well. Julia Loktev's 5 1/2-hour doc follows a group of independent Russian TV journalists as Putin is invading Ukraine. They continue doing their jobs as they find themselves increasingly in danger. Streaming on MUBI. LITTLE DARLINGS: Was It Great, or Were You 8?: It's our favorite game, where we revisit movies from our childhood to determine whether they truly were great, or we just remember them fondly. This time it was Christy's turn, and she chose "Little Darlings," a film that seemed so racy to her in 1980. Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol star as summer campers from opposite ends of the economic spectrum competing to see who can lose her virginity first. A quick episode as we head into spring break here at Breakfast All Day, but it's got a couple of big movies. Here's what we reviewed for you this week:
THE DRAMA (No Spoilers!). Lots of buzz about this A24 romance starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, but it may not be the movie you were expecting. There's a shocking twist surrounding this engaged couple in the week before their wedding, which threatens to upend everything. We have mixed feelings on this film. In theaters.
THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE. The sequel to 2023's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is critic proof, but we thought we'd review it anyway. Everyone's back -- Mario and Luigi and Princess Peach and Boswer -- but now another powerful princess is in danger. It's bright and shiny and colorful and very much for kids. In theaters.

It's a bit of a quiet week here at Breakfast All Day as "Project Hail Mary" continues to dominate the post-Oscar box office and Alonso is traveling.
But! We have reviews of a couple of movies that we don't agree on, and they both happen to be horror comedies:
THEY WILL KILL YOU. Zazie Beetz takes on a high-rise full of wealthy Satan worshippers who ... want to kill her. That may sound a lot like last week's "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come," but it's got its own crazy, hyper-stylized action. Think of it as "John Wick" by way of Looney Tunes. In theaters.
FORBIDDEN FRUITS. Lili Reinhart stars as the queen bee at the hottest clothing store, with co-workers who follow her around and obey her every rule. And they all happen to be named for fruits. But a new employee threatens to undermine her dominance. Think of it as "Mean Girls" in a Dallas mall. In theaters.

It's quiet lately as we recover from the Oscars here at Breakfast All Day.
We reviewed the week's big, new movie, "Project Hail Mary" in an earlier episode. And we didn't do our usual Friday livestream because of some schedule juggling.
BUT! We did review "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come," the sequel to the 2019 horror comedy hit "Ready or Not." Can you believe there are more Satan-worshipping billionaires trying to kill Samara Weaving? That's in theaters this weekend.
And we touched on a few news items off the top, including the big box office opening for "Project Hail Mary," new trailers in the "Spider-Man" and "Dune" franchises (it's Zendaya Day!), and a few thoughts on the passing of Chuck Norris. Thanks for joining us.
