In this episode, we’re talking about the little gems of Thailand—the small, often overlooked moments that make travelling here such a rich and memorable experience. It’s not just about the major sights or well-known destinations, but the everyday interactions, the kindness of people, and those unexpected moments that stay with you long after the journey has moved on.
From the busy streets of Bangkok to quieter corners of the country, we explore how these simple experiences shape the way you see Thailand, and why they often matter more than the things you planned to see.
So let’s get into it.

Hello, my name is Mike and welcome to the All About Thailand podcast.
In today’s episode, we’re looking at a really interesting question — whether you can actually live in Thailand on just £20 a day. It’s a figure that gets mentioned a lot, especially by budget travellers and people considering a longer stay, but the reality behind it is a bit more nuanced than a simple yes or no.
We’ll break it down properly — looking at accommodation, food, transport, and the day-to-day costs you’d realistically face. We’ll also talk about where that budget can work quite comfortably, and where it starts to get tight depending on the lifestyle you’re expecting.
So stick around as we go through what £20 a day really means on the ground in Thailand, and whether it’s genuinely doable or just a best-case scenario on paper.

Welcome to the All About Thailand Podcast. I’m your host, Mike, and in today’s episode I’m taking you back to the very beginning of my time in Thailand — starting with my first trip out to Pattaya with friends. It was a completely new experience, full of discovery, culture shock, and the excitement of seeing Thailand for the first time through fresh eyes.
After that trip, my friends returned to the UK, and I went back as well. But not long after, I made the decision to return to Thailand again on a three-month visa — this time with a very different mindset. I went back to Bangkok, rented a condo, and started living there more independently, rather than just travelling.
In this episode, I’ll be reflecting on that transition — from first-time traveller with friends, to going back home, and then making the decision to return and properly immerse myself in life in Thailand on my own terms.

Welcome back to the All About Thailand Podcast! In today’s episode, we’re talking about a serious issue that affects millions of people across Thailand every single year — the burning of crops by farmers and the huge impact it has on air quality, health, and daily life.
From the thick smog covering places like Bangkok and Chiang Mai to the health concerns for local communities and tourists alike, we take a closer look at why this practice continues, what the government is doing about it, and what the future might hold.
It’s an important conversation, and one that affects everyone living in or visiting the Land of Smiles — so stay tuned.

Welcome back to the All About Thailand podcast.
I’m Mike, and in today’s episode we’ve been taking a journey through Thailand’s Songkran celebrations, city by city.
We started off in Bangkok, where the capital turns into a full-on festival zone — busy streets, packed tourist areas, and an electric atmosphere from morning right through to night. Then we moved down to Pattaya, where the energy shifts again — a bit wilder, more nightlife-focused, and very much geared towards visitors looking for a party atmosphere.
And finally, we wrapped things up in Chiang Mai, where Songkran arguably reaches its peak in terms of tradition mixed with absolute chaos — the old city turning into one massive water fight with an incredible sense of community and celebration.
So whether you’re thinking of experiencing Songkran for yourself or just curious about how different each city really feels during the festival, we’ve covered the full picture.
Let’s bring it all together.:::

Welcome to All About Thailand, I am Mike. This episode is brought to you by Lonely Traveler Productions.
In today’s episode, we start in rural Thailand, focusing on village life and the impact of ongoing fuel shocks on everyday living. We look at how rising costs are affecting transport, farming, local markets, and the general pace of life in communities that rely heavily on affordability and accessibility.
From there, we move on to Bangkok, exploring how the capital is responding to the same pressures. We discuss the knock-on effects on nightlife, tourism, hospitality, and daily urban movement, and what this could mean for the wider Thai economy as costs continue to shift.
So join us as we move from the quiet reality of the villages to the fast-moving energy of Bangkok, and break down what’s really happening across Thailand right now.
Stay with us.

Today we’re taking a look at the different types of beaches you’ll find across Thailand—because not every beach offers the same experience.
You’ve got the lively party beaches, full of energy, nightlife, and that real holiday buzz. Then there are the more laid-back beaches, where you can relax during the day but still enjoy a bit of atmosphere in the evening. And finally, the truly quiet spots—perfect for switching off, with nothing but the sound of the sea around you.
We’ll help you figure out which one suits your style of travel.

Up early again here in Thailand — and it’s already been one of those mornings.
We had a little issue with the car — the filter decided it had other plans for the day — but thankfully it’s now all sorted. Kung has been absolutely brilliant, getting everything handled and back on track. Teamwork makes everything easier.
While that was being taken care of, I’ve been relaxing, diving back into the podcast, collating footage, organising the filming, and bringing all the content together. There’s something satisfying about seeing it all start to flow into place. It’s shaping up really well and we’re excited about what’s coming next.
Busy, productive, and positive — just the way we like it.
Thank you for following the journey and supporting us every step of the way.

From Udon Thani today, and this time the podcast is coming to you from the fantastic Brick House Inn.
We’ve settled in, microphones ready, and there’s a great atmosphere here — proper comfort, good vibes, and the perfect base to bring you the latest from the heart of Isan.
It’s great to be back recording on location again, and Udon Thani never disappoints.

We’re heading up to Udon Thani, so come along with us as we leave the capital and fly north to Isan for the next part of the journey. Let’s go.
