WE ARE BACK, with our very first interview AND our very first episode in English!
In this episode we interview Claudio Lanza, PhD in Peace Studies and International relations at the University of Westminster, who introduces us to the concept of rivalries, a kind of conflict that is more frequent, and often more long lasting than other conflicts.
Actually, Claudio argues that conflicts and rivalries are to be understood as two different things. Conflicts are about needing different things in a situation, and rivalries are about desiring very similar things. Yeah, we were a bit confused at first too, but Claudio explains it brilliantly so listen in!
What is the difference between conflict and rivalry and why does it matter? How are conflicts and rivalries solved differently and why? How is rivalry connected to toxic masculinity and can we get rid of rivalry in politics by dismantling Sarah's least favorite thing, the patriarchy, and by having a more feminist approach to leadership (WE THINK YES).
Claudio is not only a researcher - he also works with an organization called Philia that educates tomorrow's global leaders, where he has created a program that helps leaders understand how they can become immune to rivalry by becoming more self-aware, self-accepting and authentic. Just our cup of tea!
We really hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it - and a thousand thanks to Claudio for his time and insights!
