In this episode we explore both sides of the fawning coin - being the therapist friend and being the emotional dumper. I cover why emotional dumping happens so frequently and why it might actually feel like true emotional intimacy for those of us who are recovering people pleasers.
I also explore alternatives to mainly bonding over shared trauma or being a hostage to someone's intense life stories - as well as what to do instead of sitting frozen while someone recounts some "much-to-personal" information.

A few days ago, I visited Germany and was surprised at the bluntness and directness I encountered. Aka- no fawning detected.
It made me reflect on my studies in cultural relations and how fawning is sometimes built into our cultural interactions.
In this episode, I explain how your culture may have an impact on how much you're inclined to fawn.

I've been musing a lot on the concepts of hate, shame, and cancel culture. How does hate feel somatically in the body and how does it express?
Is there a purpose to shame and specifically- the shaming that happens in cancel culture?
How can we pardon ourselves, let go of shame, and be brave to speak our truth in an age where everyone is itching to cancel the next unlucky person?

Last year I was the victim of an online witch hunt that resulted in lots of harassment, hate, and online bullying. It was scary and REALLY forced me 🙃 to apply my work. Is it possible to allow THOUSANDS of people to misunderstand you (especially when they’re commuted to misunderstanding you)? Can you find SAFETY in your body even when people dislike or hate you? And how can you connect to your own CAPACITY TO BE DISLIKED and find freedom of expression and authenticity on the other side?
