Twice recently I have had reviews that accused me of being a fear mongerer because I tell the truth about hospital birth. I'm not scared of negative reviews because it means I've hit a nerve -- that's good! Let's talk about it. Galatians 4:16 says, "Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?" Sometimes the truth hurts, and sometimes warnings are needed when real danger awaits. I'm diving into the hornet's nest today as I face the bad reviews.

Just your annual reminder that "NO, thank you" is a complete sentence when your doctor or midwife start saying things like "Let's pick your induction date" or "If you want to make sure I'm there, we need to induce on ____." If your baby isn't here yet, your baby isn't ready. Wait on God. Your labor will come at the perfect time!

There's a moment in time during active labor between stage one and stage two called "transition". This is a time when really everything about labor changes. It is in this moment that many moms are thrown off of their game and they abandon their plan because they don't understand the flow of labor and they think they can't do it anymore, not realizing they're almost there. I don't want that to happen to you, so this episode is designed to help you and your husband or support person recognize the signs so you can push through and have the birth God designed you to have.

Most of the time conversation about how to feed your baby centers around the nutrient value of breastfeeding versus formula feeding. That is a very important conversation, obviously. If you are were in the path of Hurricane Helene and you are pregnant nearing delivery, you are probably terrified right now of what's going to happen if you go into labor. Or if you are listening to this sometime in the future, you might find yourself in a place where you can't get the assistance you need for another reason. This episode is a desperate attempt to get information to the moms who need it right now in areas of Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and parts of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida who might be in a position that they are facing labor alone, unplanned. There are women who are going to have an unassisted birth at home even though they planned a hospital birth with all the interventions....and that's a scary place to be. I want to help those women.
I know many of these places don't have electricity right now or internet/cell service, but some are being restored even though their roads are still washed out. So my plea to anyone listening to this today is that you share this as far and wide as you can so that hopefully this will reach the mamas who need it right now. I'm releasing it early rather than waiting until my usual release date of Tuesday morning to try to get a jump start on it. There will also be a YouTube video with the same information in case that is easier to share. This is my attempt to help anyone I can as I sit helpless in middle Tennessee, unable to go be with these women who are essentially cut off from society. My prayer is this helps at least one mom. I ask you to help me do that.
