Periodontal Disease, for the most part, is a chronic condition. The periodontist’s role and training are focused on diagnosing, arresting, and, as much as possible, reversing the course of this destructive ailment. But once patients have been stabilized, they still remain at greater risk for recurrence or breakdown compared with patients who have never had this damaging infection. For this reason, patients are usually informed during their initial visits to periodontists, that they should consider themselves periodontal patients from then on, or as long as they have teeth. Is this chronic label true for every patient? Of course not, but those who can safely return into the general patient population and be treated with no additional vigilance are extremely few and far between.
The profession of Dental Hygiene serves a vital function when it comes to helping treated periodontal patients maintain health and, when necessary, return them to active therapy. But how well does all of this work out in real life?
The problem is primarily one of communication. The periodontist works in one office or operatory and the dental hygienist in another. Also, their experiences and training are vastly different, so much so, potentially, that neither understands what the other is thinking or needs to know in order to provide effective care to the patients they have in common.
Ben Young is a practicing periodontist who came into private practice after a career in the United States Air Force. His final assignment on active duty was as the Director of the Air Force Periodontal Therapist Program. This was a training program that essentially taught a select group of seasoned active duty dental assistants to perform the functions of the dental hygienist under the supervision of periodontists in one of dozens of bases around the world.
This podcast is for dentists, dental hygienists and students interested in learning better teamworking techniques toward the highest level of quality patient care. It is intended to be informative, thought provoking and helpful in linking the on-going care of periodontal patients between periodontal and general dental offices while at the same time, making dental hygiene less stressful and more enjoyable. -

Join me, Melissa Browne, ex-financial advisor, ex-accountant, ex-working till I drop. Now serial entrepreneur, best selling author and financial educator as I talk all things money.
Why a podcast about money? That's because as women we're choosing not to talk about it and when it comes to dealing with money - we’re kind of sucking at it. There is a wage gap that exists not simply in the corporate world but in the world of small and medium business owners where women should be on par with men. There is a gap between men and women that we’ve tossed in the too hard basket for the moment in our superannuation funds. And there’s a widening gap between those who own property and those who do not.
And let’s not even talk about the role money and power holds in our society.
That’s why ladies I believe finance is a feminist issue. It’s time we started to uncensor money.
Here you'll find chats about money where we throw off the notion that money is crass or uncomfortable. It's all about becoming comfortable bringing money into our everyday conversations and through it, figuring out what our own money story is and whether we might want to change it. -

Timber is becoming known as the building material of the 21st Century. It is strong – a high strength to weight ratio is recently being utilized with innovative developments; it is safe – being both durable and achieving fire ratings; it is sustainable –timber being the most viable option, acting like a carbon sink to reduce the effects of global warming. Research by Mcgraw and Hill suggests that innovation in the construction industry has been stagnant for over 50 years. Timber may provide the productivity gains similar to that of other industries, being suitable for prefabrication and allowing rapid construction cycle times.
Timber Talks, provides the latest informative and entertaining information about the best design practices, latest innovations and interesting case studies from the world leading experts in timber design, specification and construction. -
We're all investors in the share market, either directly or through our superannuation. We're handing over management of our assets to financial advisors and fund managers. The best will look after our interests and make us wealthier. But how can we know for sure? Where do you go if you're completely new but want to start learning about investing in the markets yourself. The jargon is dense and it can feel like we're being kept deliberately in the dark. In Shares for Beginners, you'll hear from people in the finance industry and together we'll explain key concepts of investing in the ASX, the NASDAQ, S&P500, FTSE and Dow. More importantly, they have insights that allow us to look under the hood of the stock market, explaining how it works and what to look out for. We have to be smart. We have to be diversified and we have to have good risk management strategies if we want to invest for the long term.

How is your superannuation linked to the Australian & US stock markets? It's crucial to understand the fundamentals of stocks and shares, and recommend reading "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham.
I explore the basics - what a share is and how to buy one, and delve into the world of value investing, exploring strategies to identify undervalued stocks. I cover key terms like ASX (Australian Securities Exchange), CBOE (Chicago Board Options Exchange), ASX200 (Australian Securities Exchange 200 Index), ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds), LICs (Listed Investment Companies), Managed Funds, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), as well as the difference between passive and active investing.
There are many traps for beginner investors and it's good to be aware of the role and risks of options, warrants, CFDs (Contracts for Difference), day trading, bonds, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, and the difference between fundamental and technical analysis.
Tracking your investments is essential, and it's important to know about watchlists, understand dividends and dividend reinvestment plans (DRPs), while exploring robo-investing, fixed income, index funds, and micro-investing.
I cover topics like trading and buying shares, making money from shares, and understanding the Australian stock exchange. What is the role of stockbrokers and online brokers and how to buy and sell shares.
