  • Laney Crowell is a founder I’ve wanted to speak to for such a long time, so I knew I had to pin her down on my trip to New York.

She founded beauty brand Saie in 2019 after a five year stint at Estee Lauder that made her want to disrupt the industry, and to Saie (pardon the pun)  it’s gone from strength to strength is an understatement. Laney’s career though was not an obvious entrepreneurial path - she started out on film sets, entered into the world of new york magazines, and even interviewed to be Anna Wintour’s assistant 7 times before landing what her dream role, leading social & eventually global communications for Estee Lauder. It was a big job, but she wanted even bigger, more disruptive things, which ultimately led her to Saie.

  • Today we’re talking about how to become more confident. I really believe that confidence might just be the key to happiness, whether it’s in your career, your personal relationships, or even just how you talk to yourself. And understanding the root cause has shown me that confidence is something you can learn, it’s like any skill. And if there’s one thing I love - it’s learning skills. So i’m excited to break it down.

  • Lavinia Errico is the original queen of wellness. Back in the 90s, she set up Equinox alongside her brothers. They were the pioneers of gyms that were built for young city-dwellers. Their business was at the heart of the rise of the wellness boom and Lavinia’s story is incredible. But what I really didn’t expect is how incredible her thoughts were on the importance of reinvention and transformation after something like Equinox.

  • I’ve given myself an excuse to spend hours researching the topics I wish I knew more about so you don’t need to read a whole book to understand something important.

So I've started with one of the most important things I've researched over the last few years: how to channel your overthinking and make it your superpower.

  • I couldn’t come to LA and not do an episode with a biohacker. Kayla Barnes Lentz is on a mission to live for as long as she can.

She’s dedicated her life to optimising her brain health, and works to a very specific schedule to do so. She even owns her own clinic that specialises in ‘longevity medicine’.

I’m so fascinated by people like Kayla, and to be totally honest, a little sceptical. But her advice on what we can take into our lives was really simple & accessible.

Ever since I started this podcast I wanted to gain new perspectives on what success looks like to a vast array of experts, and biohacking is an extremely male-dominated space, so it was be fascinating to hear Kayla’s perspective.

  • We’ve had a lot of entrepreneurs on this podcast, many are in the midst of growing their company. But Ankur Nagpal has been there done that, got the millions.

He’s reached the goal so many entrepreneurs work towards, selling his edu- tech company Teachable for a 9-figure sum in 2020. Ankur has ticked off so many accolades, Forbes 30u30, tens of millions of dollars in funding, and of course a large exit. But behind the accolades are more challenges than you might expect, from getting a cease and desist from Facebook, to almost being kicked out of the country. Frankie has achieved things so many would dream of, but today she told me after each career move, she felt like a failure, and that she didn’t have control over her future & career. • Episode 100!! We've made it!!

I truly cannot believe that we’ve made it to 100 episodes, but at the same time it still feels like the beginning. I’ve said it in pretty much every episode so far, but my aim for this was always to have interesting, advice-filled conversations, with fascinating people. When I started 100 episodes ago, I was frustrated that “life improvement” podcasts were either just positioned as health, or productivity, and how in fact it really stretches so much further than that. Whether you’ve listened to one episode, or one hundred, I can’t thank you enough for being part of the journey - this podcast has always been guided by what you want to learn & improve on, so never stop sending ideas and making this podcast alongside me! I’m so grateful and we have huge huge plans for the future so here’s to the next 100!

And here’s the wildest bit, I’m the other co-founder! This podcast has always been about sharing my business learnings, and it seems crazy not to talk about my biggest learning curve of the last few months, founding Retrograde.

I wanted this episode to be a raw and real conversation about our journey to date, the reality of what it's been like, how we’ve taken our idea & made it into something real, why the creator industry is crying out for change and what we think this company can be. I really hope you enjoy it.

  • Candace Nelson is a living breathing example of how to turn your passion into profit. After quitting her career in investment banking, she had plans to go to business school, but changed them last minute to instead do what she called a Pastry MBA, and to hone her baking craft. She started Sprinkles Cupcakes from her small flat in 2005, nearly 20 years later, Candace has sold over 200m cupcakes from her bakeries and cupcake ATMs across the country. The story of how she achieved this growth is wild, and includes cameos from Tom Cruise and Oprah From featuring on the US version of Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank, to being a judge on Netflix’s cupcake wars, Candace has created a baking empire,  and I can’t wait for you to hear all about it.

  • Radhi Devlukia is a nutritionist & plant-based cook whose ethos is all about bringing together the latest research in nutrition, with the ancient practices she’s so passionate about, and the results are fascinating. She’s just released her debut cookbook, Joyfull, which was an instant New York Times bestseller, it was such a great read. So, if you’re feeling like you’re struggling with connection, and you’re teetering on burnout, take a moment to watch this conversation, I know you won’t regret it.
