Colorism is the prejudice or discrimination against someone based on the darkness of their skin. This is inherent within many communities and society itself. Both Ananya and I have experienced colorism and understand the struggles minorities can face with this issue. Although some might not consider it as "serious" as many other issues minorities face, it is important to talk about it, as it can perpetuate a lot of negative stereotypes and encourage insecurities. As a Singaporean and Canadian teenage girl, Emily has experienced both sides of the biracial coin. In this episode, Emily and I were able to brush on some of the struggles surrounding the Asian community that we're seeing all over the media at the moment. Due to the Covid, 19 pandemic Asian people have experienced increasing cases of discrimination and violence.
