  • If you’ve ever wondered how long you’ll breastfeed, or if breastfeeding feels like it could be too challenging, you’re not alone.

    Whether you're preparing for your first baby or anticipating life with twins, breastfeeding can feel overwhelming, especially when questions and doubts start to creep in.

    When I was pregnant with my twins, I faced similar questions, even though I’d breastfed my older two children.

    Thankfully, I discovered Kathryn Stagg through my IG network and a twin support group. After attending one of her free online talks and reading her book, I knew she was the real deal. Now, I’m thrilled to have her as our guest!

    Kathryn Stagg is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and OCN Level 3 Holistic Sleep Coach with over 17 years of experience supporting families with feeding, sleep, and understanding normal baby behaviour. After breastfeeding her own twins with wonderful support, Kathryn dedicated herself to helping other families and even led the Multiple Birth Breastfeeding Project in Harrow. Honoured with the ABM’s Pam’s Prize in 2017, she’s a well-respected advocate for breastfeeding support.

    Kathryn offers postnatal breastfeeding support right in the comfort of clients’ homes, as well as antenatal education for individuals and groups, and virtual support via Zoom. While she specializes in multiple-birth families, this episode covers breastfeeding tips and insights for all families, whether you’re welcoming one baby or three.

    Her mission, to empower mums to breastfeed their babies with confidence, whether they have one or multiple little ones, through evidence-based information and compassionate support, shines through when she speaks.

  • This week’s episode is an open and honest with a fellow prenatal & postnatal yoga and hypnobirthing instructor, and a Mama, Daria. Whether you are pregnant or have already given birth, this episode is for you!

    Daria opens up about her approach to teaching Yoga and her personal experiences during pregnancy and postpartum. We dive deep into her journey with prolapse and how it shaped her postpartum and initial experiences of motherhood, physically as well as emotionally, and continues to do so.

    Last month, Daria shook my belief system when she mentioned that if she were to give birth again, she would opt for an elective c-section. You may not expect a yoga and hypnobirthing teacher, who had a natural birth the first time around, to say this, so listen in to find out why.

    Daria is an excellent pregnancy & postnatal yoga teacher (I know because I’ve been to her classes) specialising in core and pelvic floor health. She’s also a hypnobirthing instructor and a Thai Massage therapist.

    She is incredibly knowledgeable and well informed in so many topics from anatomy, pelvic floor, prolapse, physiotherapy, hypnobirthing and of course pre and postnatal care.

    Her passion lies in empowering women to understand their bodies through movement and knowledge to be the strongest version of themselves in pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.

  • They say it takes a village to raise a child. In one of my Facebook support groups, someone shared some research that pointed that it takes an average of 4 adults to raise and nurture 1 child.

    4 adults per child! That’s why I’m not surprised that now, as a mother of four, I’m experiencing firsthand the curiosity from others about how I manage it all.

    In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain to share how I manage "it". Behind the smiling family photos, cute reels, cuddles, walks, and yoga, there’s a tremendous amount of help.

    Yes, I am exhausted. Some days, my legs feel like jelly, and my sugar intake has tripled to keep me going. But, I’m here standing, and my experience of motherhood is gradually transitioning from survival mode to thriving mode. The mental load is tremendous, especially with a partner who works full-time and travels often. It’s crucial to dispel the myth of mothers doing it all alone, and I’m sharing with you my village hoping you can build one yourself too.

    This episode is dedicated to every parent out there doing the work of multiple adults, whether you’re a single parent or part of a couple.

  • This week we discuss safety during childbirth with Gina Mundy, an attorney specializing in childbirth cases.

    For over 20 years, Gina’s focus has been investigating and analyzing mistakes that arise during labour and delivery. She has spent countless hours meticulously scrutinizing childbirth cases, conducting interviews with delivery teams, and thoroughly examining medical records to gain an in-depth understanding of every decision made during labour and delivery. Throughout her career Gina has travelled the United States of America, engaging with healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, and midwives to explore all aspects of labour and delivery. These interactions have provided her with invaluable insights, enabling her to appreciate the diverse perspectives prevalent in different regions of the country.

    In June 2023, Gina's book "A Parent's Guide to a Safer Childbirth" was published. The book helps parents to avoid the mistakes during childbirth and have a healthy baby.

    Instead of getting involved after a mistake was made, Gina is getting involved before childbirth to help prevent the mistakes.

  • Birth stories are powerful.

    I’m refraining from labelling them as positive or negative, as it comes down to how the birthing person feels. What for one person might sounds traumatic, for the other might be beautiful and empowering.

    I will keep the word powerful, because every single birth story is indeed powerful. Regardless of the type of birth. It’s a birth!

    The reason they are powerful is because we don’t see births in our daily lives, apart from TV and media which is mostly sensationalised. We tend see someone go off to hospital, come back home with a baby, leaving everything in between up to the imagination!

    Birth stories like in today´s episode, have the ability to give another pregnant women the confidence and belief that she can do it too.

    Today's episode is indeed a birth story, by Siri Pisters.

    Siri is here to share the story of the birth of her baby boy. In this story Siri takes us through her pregnancy, from a planned homebirth to a hospital induction.

    This conversation is a beautiful example of how things don’t always go as we plan, how and when decisions have to be made (and unmade!), and the importance of finding that balance between keeping and letting go of control.

    Welcome to this episode with the wonderful Tove Palmgren, a Yoga teacher of over 34 years and a mum of 4.

    Tove is one of those women who gave birth to all her children without pain-relief. This episode is NOT about judging women who use pain relief or who don’t, the point is, she did it back when there was no such thing as prenatal yoga, birth preparation courses, hypnobirthing, etc.

    There were no specific tools given to her, and she’s here to tell us how she used her intuition and figured it out.

    Tove tells us about her parallel journeys of yoga, work and motherhood (whilst being a single mum for many years), and how these various paths have evolved throughout the years.

    She tells us how about a miscarriage she had, and how she reconciled it emotionally.

    We also talk about how to deal with this constantly changing body, from menstruation to pregnancy, postpartum and menopause, and how to sustain a yoga (or self-care!) practice with whilst we’re raising children and as we grow older.

  • Yoga is often associated with stretching. It’s the classic ‘’Yoga is about being able to touch your toes’’.

    Many of us often start going to yoga classes for the physical benefits, only later to find there is so much more.

    10-20 years ago, we would say things like ‘’Yes I do yoga, but I don’t go for the spiritual stuff like the ooomms and stuff, I go to move and sweat’’. And let’s face it, we all know getting into headstand is not the goal, but it pretty cool if we could right?!

    But, things are changing in the Yoga world.

    One of the reasons it’s changing is thanks to teachers like Komal Dadlani, who are there to remind us Yoga is not a physical practice. In fact, the physical asana practice is only 1 small part of Yoga. Komal is one of those teachers, who skilfully includes and introduces the spiritual teachings of Yoga in her classes.

    The best part? She explains very ancient spiritual teachings in a very simple and relatable language. I felt that she was a translator, so we could understand these traditional old texts and use them in our daily lives.

  • Last summer, I found myself asking my mum, "Is this peri-menopause?". I was having lots of hot flushes and sweating.

    Her response was, "No, you’ve forgotten what Spanish summers are like and you're breastfeeding!"

    She might have been right. Who knows? This summer I’m pregnant, and my body is going through something else! However, I’d rather be prepared for peri-menopause and learn how to manage this new phase of myself whenever it decides to come!

    I also realised that I know NOTHING about it. The first time I heard about Peri-menopause was on TV. I was watching the Netflix show, ‘’Working Mums’’ where the main character comes home from the doctors and says, in shock, that she has ‘’peri-f*ing-menopause’’!

    In today’s episode we’re on a slightly different path, and shifting our focus from pregnancy and postpartum to peri-menopause and menopause.

    Especially for this, we have Sally Parkes, an expert in woman’s health yoga and also a Yoga teacher trainer. Sally has expanded her prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher trainings to also include a Yoga for Menopause Teacher Training.

    As an added perspective, Sally is going through peri-menopause herself, giving us a firsthand insight into what it’s really like. In this episode we delve into:

    Various aspects of peri-menopause and menopause, including hormonal changes taking place.Sally’s personal experience as she’s entering Peri-menopause.   • After becoming a mother. I found myself at a loss when faced with the typical ‘’So, what do you do?’’. Yes I was still ‘’doing’’ my professional job, but I was also doing a lot more!

    I had to re-evaluate what this meant for my purpose and identity.

    Fast forward 5 years and much soul-searching and therapy, I now run an online yoga business and am a podcaster.

    To get started on this new journey, I joined a business coaching programme led by Susanne Rieker.

    Initially, I expected to learn all about the online world, sales, marketing, and how to turn my hobby, and part-time side hustle, Yoga, into a profitable and scalable business.

    To my surprise, this business programme also included monthly Mindset Coaching sessions with a life-coach, Lisa Garber.

    I questioned the purpose of these sessions. Wasn’t the focus supposed to be on developing a business, and not therapy? Well, I couldn’t have more wrong.

    Just like becoming a mother, starting a business challenges you in every aspects of your life. It presents an opportunity to face our inner demons: What will others think of me? What if nobody shows up? What if I fail? The guilt of spending my time and energy between the children and this online business.

    So many other inner mind-demons unexpectedly emerged as I entered the world of entrepreneurship and motherhood. These mind-set coaching sessions with Lisa quickly became the highlight of the month!

    Lisa is a certified life and executive coach who has been passionately helping people find personal fulfillment for over 25 years. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute.   • I recently completed the KGH Hypnobirthing Teacher Trainer Course.

    I choose the KGH method because back in 2018, someone lent me the KGH Hypnobirthing book whilst I was pregnant with my first child. My husband and I read it from cover to cover, loved everything about it and were convinced we were ready for a magical ‘’hypnobirth’’.

    For many reasons, the birth was not at all as expected! Realising there was more to learn than just reading the book, the second time around, we decided to take the actual KGH course!

    Through this online course we were now equipped with the tools and knowledge to have an incredible home birth, one you can listen to (linked in the show notes).

    We realised there is a common misconception around hypnobirthing, one that we made the first time around. We assumed that it merely involved birth preparation, but we discovered it’s so much more than that.

    In the intro to this episode, I share with you a real life example of why!

    To delve deeper into the non-mystical world of Hypnobirthing and its misunderstood aspects we are joined by the wonderful and knowledgeable Nancy Keen.

    Nancy Keen is a mum of 3, a hypnobirthing teacher of 17 years. She is a KGH Teacher trainer and founder of The Birth Right Academy. She not only empowers parents to have the best birth for them, but also mentors hypnobirthing teachers, emphasizing her motto ‘’knowledge is power’’.

    I have personally experienced maternity leave twice, while enjoying the comfort of a stable job. However, this time around as a business owner, the experience is vastly different!

  • Pregnancy is not an illness and pregnant people are not patients. We are normal people, who happen to be carrying and growing another human being inside of us.

    And yes, it’s not easy! The physical demands on the body are significant. But in a normal, healthy pregnancy, one can pretty much carry on doing what one was doing before being pregnant.

    My brain knows this, yet when I see videos of pregnant people lifting weights, or running, or doing cross-fit, a part of me always goes, oh, is that safe?

    I had to question myself and ask if my reaction was a result social conditioning? Doctors advise pregnant people to go swimming, walking and do yoga, but strength training is definitely not in the prenatal handbook!

    I am only now, at age 38 starting to do light strength training myself. I hope to continue throughout my pregnancy. I’m combining it with Yoga and the results are really positive.

    Naturally, I was curious and sought out an expert in the field to answer all my questions!

  • ‘’I was falling asleep, sitting up in my bathtub in the middle of labour!’’

    How did I get to this blissful state during labour? How was I drug free and falling asleep in between rushes?

    During my first pregnancy, we attempted a home birth. We read a hypnobirthing book, hired an inflatable bathtub and thought we were all set.

    It didn’t work the way I planned. For many different reasons, and one induction, episiotomy and ventouse later, my baby girl was born at 42 weeks and 6 days.

    Aside from the beautiful high I got from the 2 hours I was drugged up with morphine, the birth and the recovery were pretty intense and traumatic.

    I realised that my approach towards hypnobirthing and the birth was totally wrong. Please note that by wrong, I mean wrong for me and for what I had envisioned!

    I still wouldn’t change my first birth experience for anything, but the second time around, I was ready to do it differently.
