This week’s ‘Mini’ edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast comes from our chat with David Reynolds almost exactly five years ago in March 2020, when he visited Sleuth HQ with his chauffeur for the day - future Supercars champ (and his then enduro co-driver) Will Brown!
In this snippet, Reynolds opened up on a very serious topic: a tragic tarmac rally accident from the early part of his career.
Two weeks after securing the 2007 Australian Carrera Cup Championship, Reynolds was competing in the Mount Buller Sprint with navigator Paul Flintoft.
Their Elfin MS8 Clubman spun off the road and crashed down a 20 metre cliff, killing Flintoft and leaving Reynolds with head injuries.

In this snippet, released on what would have been Peter Brock’s 80th birthday, Skaifey talks about partnering up with the King of the Mountain in 1997, plus a fun tale involving the Brocky, a couple of hire cars, and a desperate race to get out of the Symmons Plains car park

Supercars champ-turned-IndyCar star Scott McLaughlin makes his second appearance on the V8 Sleuth Podcast for this week’s episode, recorded while he was at Sebring for pre-season testing with Team Penske.
A lot has happened since his last visit to the pod back in 2020 so there’s plenty to talk about – including testing Porsche’s LMDh prototype sportscar at Sebring last week and partnering with his old Supercars rival Shane van Gisbergen at the 24 Hours of Daytona!
He talks about how his relationship with SVG has changed since he departed Supercars and his role in getting them together for Daytona, where the gains come from now the Dallara IR12 is a 14-year-old car, whether he still keeps up with Supercars, comparisons between the 2019 Bathurst controversy and last year’s Push-to-Pass IndyCar drama, the new era about to dawn in IndyCar, and plenty more.

This week’s ‘Mini’ edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Castrol is drawn from Supercars legend Greg Murphy’s first visit to the pod back in 2020.
This snippet revolves around a regularly-mined topic come that special Sunday in October: his confrontation with Marcos Ambrose after they crashed out of the 2005 Bathurst 1000.
We’d received so many National Motor Racing Museum Couch Racer Questions about it that we simply had to bring it up – and Murph didn’t disappoint with his recreation of what the pair said to each other post-shunt. The V8 Sleuth bleeper hasn’t been the same since…
This Mini came from Episodes 66 and 67 back in 2020, a two-part chat via Zoom with Murph about his career to that point. To listen to the rest of the chat, tap this link >> https://bit.ly/V8SPMurphy

This week’s ‘Mini’ edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Castrol features Nathan Pretty sharing a couple of tales from his rookie season in Supercars.
In this snippet, Pretty talks about a wild moment in the early laps of the first race at the 1999 Winton round, where he and sister Nicole used an old Thunderdome trick to avoid a host of crashing cars to vault, Steven Bradbury-style, from the back of the field to the front!
He also shares his side of the Bathurst practice crash later that year that led to Larry Perkins’ now-infamous synopsis: “Young bloke, cold tyres, f***ed up.”

This week’s edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Castrol looks back at the rise and fall of one of Australian motorsport’s most exciting categories: AUSCAR.
Created as the second-tier category at Bob Jane’s Calder Park Thunderdome, AUSCAR quickly became a star attraction in its own right through a simple formula that had, at the time, disappeared from Australian circuits: V8 Holdens and Fords racing head to head.
We chat about how it came about, the star drivers, what triggered its downfall, where some of the cars went, and share your memories from an incredible period of racing.
