In today's episode I interview recreational athlete and co-founder of O2 Events Jordan O'Neill. O2 Events are one of Australia’s premier facilitators of recreational events including the 2XU Triathlon Series, The Alpine Classic, The Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride, Melbourne Teams Triathlon and The 2XU Wellness Run to name a few. As a keen recreational athlete myself I really wanted to know what takes place behind the scenes to put these massive events together and fulfill the fitness desires of recreational athletes across the country.

In todays episode I interview keen recreational athlete and occasional adventure seeker Vincent Cheers. Vin is an inspiring human from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. He has summited some of the worlds great mountains, completed some world famous and challenging hikes and tackled multiple competitive open water swims and bike rides. At 64 years old he has had to overcome 2 major health setbacks in his life and is still here today, with a smile on his face and an unstoppable outlook on his amazing life. He is an extraordinary businessman, husband, father and friend to so many, I can’t wait to share this inspiring and amazing story with you all.

In today's episode I interview superstar age group triathlete Jo Ritson. Jo is a high performing triathlete who has seen some phenomenal success over her short time in Triathlon. In 2018 she placed 6th at the ITU world champs on the Gold Coast competing in sprint distance. In 2019 she placed 6th again at the ITU world champs in Lausanne once again competing in sprint distance. In 2020 she made the move into longer distance racing and placed first at the Geelong half ironman for her age group. in 2021 Jo placed second in her age group at the Cairns half ironman (70.3) and in 2022 she took out first place in her age group at Noosa in the Olympic Distance, as well as first place in the Cairns and Port Macquarie half ironmans (70.3) showing that this girl is an absolute beast in her field! She does all this whilst juggling full time work as a professional learning co-ordinator for the Australian council for health, physical education and recreation which makes her achievements even more impressive!

In todays episode I interview 2 x Guinness World Record Holder Daniel Scali. In August 2021 Dan broke his first record for the worlds longest abdominal plank (9hrs 30min 1sec) beating the previous record by a massive 1 hour and in April 2022 Dan broke the record for the most pushups in 1 hour completing 3182 pushups which was over 100 more than the past record holder. Dan not only beat, but absolutely smashed both records. Between being a fitness machine Dan works as a full time mechanic at his families workshop in Adelaide Australia and to add to his amazing story Dan suffers from complex regional pain syndrome which he has lived with from the age of 12 and we are going to dig into that to discover how he has turned his biggest weakness into his greatest strength. In todays episode I interview former Australian swimming champion and 3 time Olympic medallist Andrew Lauterstein. Andy took home 3 medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He also won Gold at the 2007 World Champs in Melbourne, a bronze at the World Champs in Rome in 2009 and a Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006. It’s fair to say that this guest knows what it takes to train and perform at the highest level as an athlete which is why I wanted to get him on today to talk about the differences between training and performing as a professional athlete vs training and performing as a recreational athlete. Andy is currently juggling a growing family and 4 thriving businesses one called ENGINE which is my favourite performance apparel and swimwear brand! As well as 3 swim schools New Wave Swim School in Frankston, Mentone Aquatic in Mentone and Korowa Aquatics in Glen Iris plus he is a keen recreational athlete keeping fit with swimming and gym every chance he gets.
