Have you ever had one of those weeks where your to-do list just stares at you like, âYeah⌠youâre never finishing meâ? Same.
Between work, life, family, endless responsibilities, and trying to remember what sleep feels like (hiii mom life!), it can feel hard to even think about making time for your photography dreams, let alone actually work towards them.
Hereâs the thing though, no matter how busy life feels, you can make space for your photography and your dreams.
You just need a way to carve out time, even when it feels like thereâs none left.
And trust me, I know the feelingâwanting to do everything but somehow doing nothingâyou blink and suddenly itâs 10 p.m. and youâre staring at your phone like, âWait, where did the day go?â
Thatâs why, in this weekâs podcast episode, weâre talking about exactly thatâhow to turn those overwhelming, anxious feelings into action. Spoiler Alert: Itâs not about having more time, itâs about using the time youâve got.
Hereâs a little sneak peek of what weâre talking about:
How to stop feeling like a deer in headlights when you look at your to-do list and start actually moving forward The magic of setting one big, bold goal that gets you excitedâand then breaking it down into manageable steps How to find your âgolden hoursâ and use them to make serious progress (even if itâs just 15 minutes at a time!)This isnât about adding more to your plateâitâs about finding freedom in the small, intentional steps that get you closer to your dreams. And the best part? Itâs not about perfection. Itâs about showing up for yourself, consistently, even when life feels too busy.
You donât have to wait for the âperfect momentâ to chase your photography dreams.
The perfect moment is right now.
Every small step you take adds up to something bigger.
So if youâre ready to turn that busy, overwhelming feeling into something productive and meaningful, this episode is for you.

Social media used to feel SO fun.
I mean, think back to the days when weâd just take a photo with our iphone, slap the Valencia filter on it and call it a day.
It was so simple back then, so pure...
But then came the algorithm...
And with it, the never ending demand for MORE!
More likes, more followers, more content⌠more, more, more!
It kinda becomes exhausting, doesnât it?
As photographers, we pour our hearts into our work, only to feel like we're constantly chasing something that keeps moving further away.
And then you add in the constant stream of heartbreaking news every time you open the appâthe world seemingly on fireâit can make sharing your art feel almost pointless.
Itâs hard not to wonder if what we create even makes a difference when the world feels so heavy.
Maybe youâve been feeling it too, and if so, it's important to remember that art has the power to bring light, hope, and connectionâeven when it feels like everything is falling apart.
Your creativity deserves to be seen, and it IS possible to reconnect with the joy that brought you to social media in the first place.
And Iâm sharing all about it in todayâs podcast episode, weâre talkingâŚ
finding that spark again making social media work for you, whatâs been making me feel disconnected from IG and how Iâm bringing that joy back how to stay true to yourself and your craft, even when the world feels like itâs falling apartTHE PHOTOGRAPHER'S PATH REOPENS FALL 2024. Well, hiiiiiiii friend! đ
Itâs been a while, but Iâm back in your inboxâŚand so is The Photographerâs Podcast. đĽš
But, in all honesty, Iâm actually not really back. Not the whole way, at least.
Because this whole becoming a mom thing has changed me, and Iâm not the same person anymore. Who am I? Iâm not quite sure yet, but I do know I feel different. Iâm a different business owner, a different photographer, a different wife, a different human.
And, most importantly, mom to two little angel babies.
So, again, Hi! Iâm here and the podcast is back, and Iâm so excited to be showing up for you in this way again.
And before I say any more I need to say thank you.Thank you, thank you, thank you for being here too, and allowing me to take this pause.
I canât tell you how much it means, and how thankful I am to each and every person in this incredible, beautiful community.
To kick off disappearing from the world for a while (and new-era-of-Nicole), Iâm sharing a very honest deep dive into the last 9 months of my life on todayâs episode.
Iâm so glad to be back, different and all.

Iâm baaaaaackkkk (with two new best friends) ...
You heard that right, The Photographerâs Podcast is BACK!
But before we get into it, I want to thank you for being here, for allowing me this season of rest as I adjust to this new mom life. Iâd be lying if I said I was actually adjusted by now. This is a process thatâs gonna take time, and Iâm enjoying the freedom and flexibility I have as a photographer to take it all in without having to rush back into work. So, thank you.
Being a photographer whoâs in control of their own schedule, flexibility and freedom, is truly a gift. And I donât take that lightly.
I wanted to properly kick things off by welcoming TPP alumni Claudia Segui to the podcast!
Claudia is an incredible wedding photographer originally from Cuba whoâs currently living in South Florida. She is a mom of two, a wife, an inspiring artist and a hilarious, welcoming and talented photographer.
Claudia never imagined she would become a photographer. She spent most days in the courtroom working as a stenographer. But when she found herself going through a tough time, feeling stressed out about her day job, her husband suggested photography as a release. After receiving a camera as a christmas gift, she was hooked, until she tried to use itâŚ
âI thought the camera was broken, I was like⌠it has to be, I canât be that bad.â
Then Claudia joined The Photographerâs Path⌠and everything changed.
Today, sheâs sharing exactly how much that Christmas gift changed her life.
Claudia is a perfect example of what happens when you follow your inspiration.
In this episode, she talks about:
âĄď¸ How she booked her first wedding of 2024 in Hawaii
âĄď¸ What she does to stand out as a photographer
âĄď¸ How she breaks the ice with new clients to ensure a smooth wedding day
âĄď¸ What she did to find her niche and style
âĄď¸ Advice for aspiring photographers, and so much more...

Most photographers at one point or another have been hit with the dreaded questionâŚ
âHey, do you think you could send me the raw files from our shoot?!â
Itâs like a dagger in every photographer's heartâŚ
Weâre immediately plagued with questions likeâŚ
Did they hate the photos?
Did they hate the editing?
Did they hate the colors?!
Do they hate ME?!
Itâs enough to make us spiral out of control.
But it doesnât have to be like that.
Iâve experienced this question several times throughout my career and Iâve happily given clients my raw files, and Iâve happily NOT given clients my raw files.
Itâs a complicated question with so much to unpack, and itâs something many of my students in The Photographerâs Path have asked me about.
So today Iâm sharing my insight with youâŚ
Inside the episode youâll find:
Examples of what you can say when a client asks this question What this question really means about you as a photographer Advice on how to clearly communicate with your clients Tips on how to prevent this from happening againIâve also got some big news Iâm sharing in the episode as well
âNews that involves our new social media course and how weâre gonna be approaching the podcast for the next two months...

Get ready for the therapy session you didnât realize you needed today!
Iâm so excited to be sharing an Instagram Live I had last month with the amazing Jordan Stratton, an alumni from The Photographerâs Path. Jordan is an incredible wedding photographer from Oklahoma and I canât wait for you to get to know her today.
Jordan started TPP in Fall of 2022. A few weeks after joining, she quit her full-time job of 8 years to pursue photography. Talk about a MAJOR CHANGE right?! Some of you might be sweating just thinking about this transition.
But Jordan didnât just blindly quit, she knew what she was doing. She quit her full-time job to work part-time while she actively pursued her photography dreams at the same time.
But the best part?! She quit her part-time job and it only took her 8 months to become a FULL-TIME WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER! WHAT!?!
Jordan's story is such an inspiration because it shows that there are so many different paths to take that can lead to your dreams and that not any one journey is the same as the next.
You can make your dreams happen in a way that works for you.
So, if photography is a dream in your heart, but quitting your day job seems out of reach, I hope this episode inspires you and shows you whatâs possible when you say yes!!

If I could have told myself a year ago that today I'd be pregnant with 2 biscuits, welcoming an incredible new group of students into TPP, and sitting on my deck outside my cabin in Big Sur on MY BABYMOON, Iâd have burst into tears. Itâs all I wanted, you know? And it is STILL what I want. Iâm so grateful, and so thankful, and so looking forward to what life has in store coming up. But, guess what? As it happens, Iâm burned out. Fulfilled? 10000% Yesssss.
But exhausted and burned out? Yusssss. Which is why Dustin and I are in Big Sur right now for a little babymoon and a little refresher, and I feel lighter already. As you read this, Iâm probably eating a donut, sitting on the redwood deck, listening to the birds enjoying a crisp, quiet morning. Or maybe weâre having dinner on the cliffs, watching the sunset. Or maybe Iâm zoning out listening to the sound of the dirt under our feet on hikes and the birds in the trees⌠whatever it is Iâm taking a breath. Iâm letting myself take a break and let nature fill me back up. Because thatâs what we have to do sometimes. Which is why this week I thought it was the perfect time to dive deep into burnout on this weekâs episode of the podcast. Because hereâs the thing: Even though we LOVE the work we do â burnout still exists. And we owe it to ourselves to know how to support ourselves, to connect back to the things we love, and to feel better. So on this episode, youâll hear: My own experience(s) â because there are several, trust me â with burnout How to zone in on your priorities (and align your life and business with them) A reminder that itâs okay feel burnout, it doesnât mean photography isnât meant for you And, more than anything, I hope this episode reminds you that you owe yourself MORE than living a life where your tank is always on empty and your lights are always flickering. Because you do. Please donât sell yourself short of that, okay?SIGN UP FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S PATH WAITLIST DOORS OPEN SPRING 2024: https://www.horizonfound.com/path

Yes, you read that right.
I dunno about you, but lately I've been feeling exhaused. I don't know if it's pregnancy exhaustion, work exhaustion, end of summer exhaustion, or all of the above ... but I've been tired. So today, I thought it'd be fun to change the pace around here a little bit...
Today I'm sharing an epic adventure from the most challenging/dangerous experience I've ever encountered while location scouting.
*hint* - poisonous sea snake, komodo dragons and getting lost at sea.In this episode, we're diving deep into the importance of location scouting and the preparation that needs to take place BEFORE your photoshoots. Location Scouting is an important part of the planning process that many photographers overlookâdon't be one to skip this critical element!

Today we're chatting with The Photographerâs Path Alumni, Jennifer Morris.
Itâs time for a raw honest conversation about life, business, and the process of leaving her full-time job of 10 years to become a photographer.
Jenni is an amazing lifestyle photographer â she shoots families, newborns and portraits. She is all about authenticity and capturing lifeâs most precious moments.
But Jenni's story didnât come without its ups and downs. One in particular was in May of 2022, when Jenni was asked to set up a booth at an event to offer some mini sessions, she had an entire backdrop set up, she was ready, she was excited, she thought this was going to be a big moment for her and⌠no one signed up.
"I was posting about it saying this is going to be so great. And no one signed up, I was so embarrassment.âThatâs when Jenni realized, and these are the pivotal moments in a photographers career, the moments where you can choose to keep going or give up."
This âfailureâ quickly became one of the most pivotal moments in Jenniâs career.
âIf I would have stopped at that moment I would not be here.â
Fast forward to March of 2023, Jenni signed up for The Photographerâs Path and only FIVE MONTHS later she quit her job of 10 YEARS as a dental hygienist to become a FULL-TIME Photographer! Talk about transformation!
If youâre feeling stuck at your current job, wondering if photography is something thatâs right for you, I hope this episode gives you hope for whatâs possible when you believe in yourself and go after your dreams.

Over the years, Iâve learned that the littlest, tiniest moments are often the ones that spur the biggest, most massive impacts in life. From seemingly small decisions to unintended ones, the moments like that tend to define who we are and what we do â and itâs why we have to, have to, haveeee to start saying YES.
Why we have to start doing the things that SCARE us.
Why we have to start living a life that doesn't feel SO comfortable all the time.
Why we have to follow that little voice in our hearts that says GO!
In todayâs episode, weâre taking a deep dive into letting our lives change. Listen in for things like:
The moments Iâve chosen comfort, but also the moments Iâve chosen DIScomfort
A reminder as to what happens when you follow a scary path
Inspiration to encourage your change-worthy moments

We just got back from our very first photography retreat and I can honestly say, my life is changed for the better beause of it.
32 of our alumni from our online course, The Photographerâs Path met in Maui to fully submerge ourselves into photography. We dove deep into lighting, posing, cameras, lenses and ALL the techy goodness. We were pretty much open books 24/7, sharing and exchanging knowledge, we learned together, grew together, supported each other, and this time we spent together is something Iâll honestly never forget.
I watched every one of our students push outside their comfort zones and leave this retreat a different person.
And it all started with finding the courage to invest in an online photography course, become a part of a loving community, and believe in themselves and their capabilities.
Watching each of our students' grow has been the most incredible gift.
And on todayâs podcast episode, Iâm sharing it all with you! Listen in for:
A recap of our amazing week on Maui đď¸ Why TPP alumni are so awesome đ The #1 thing all of our students have in common that has catapulted their growth đ The 5 most important lessons I learned on this trip and how you can start applying them to your life today! đ§You're going to want to listen to this episode!

Lemme just paint the picture for ya.
Youâre sitting at the Thanksgiving dinner table, catching up on the year behind you and small-talking with your extended famâŚ
âŚand then your uncle (the one you see once a year â maybe) looks at you and says,
âSoooo, howâs your little photography business going?!â
And, since itâs THANKSGIVING, you canât make a scene (ugh), so you kindly say, âItâs going really well actually.â
To which he responds âYou're still doing that huh?â
Can ya relate to that one? đ
Buttttt, hereâs the thing: uncle, what's his name, can calm it down â because the idea of ~starving artist syndrome~ and the assumption that creative people canât make money is the wrong one.
As photographers, we work in a multi-billion dollar industry â and to say thereâs limitless potential is almost selling us short.
In todayâs episode, weâre talking ALL about this. When you listen, youâll learn things like:
My personal experiences with $$$ in photography
Stats on the POWER of photography in the world
TPP encouragement for you to take to your next Thanksgiving dinner (đ)

âI have to wait until I get a nicer camera.â
âI canât do it until the kids are olderâ
âI donât need to try something Iâm not sure I can follow through on.â
âI have way too many other priorities, this can wait.â
âI donât have time.â
How many times have you said at least one of the above about your dreams?
If youâre like most photographers I know (and myself, trust me), itâs been⌠at least once. Probablyyyyyyyyy more. đ
But what if I told you that, actuallyâŚ
âŚyou can start without the camera
âŚyou can figure it out
âŚyou can follow through on the things you want
âŚyou can make yourself a priority
âŚyou can always make time for dreams
Because you CAN. It just genuinely requires a little recalibration and focus.
A reminder that youâre where youâre supposed to be â and you have to take advantage of every second you have, while you have it.
In todayâs episode, weâre talking allllll about time and how to make the most of it when it comes to following your dreamsâ because maybe today you need to realize how much time you really do have.

Photographers, have you ever turned down something that could have been amazing⌠because you felt a little scared?
Maybe you ...
... Said no to an event you were invited to because you thought you wouldnât fit in.
... Didnât sign up for that photography class because you thought youâd fail.
âŚSaid no to that shoot opportunity because you were intimidated by the client.
If youâve ever felt anything like this, you might be experiencing a whole lot of imposter syndrome.
AKA that pesky voice inside your head that says youâre not meant to be where you are. That youâre faking it. That youâre not good enough to succeed. That you donât deserve it. That youâre the wrong person for the job.
Who can relate?!
đââď¸đââď¸đââď¸
If youâre anything like me, then youâve been able to relate for wayyyy tooo loooong.
But ⌠Iâve gotta ask:
Are you letting imposter syndrome affect your entire business?
Your entire life?
Are you letting it keep you from saying yes?
Are you letting it keep you from being proud of yourself?
Are you letting it keep you from finding joy in your passion?
I have to beg you, my friend⌠take some time to think about it.
Because life is far too short to push aside your dreams out of fear. Life is far too short to shrink yourself down so you donât take up space. Life is far too short to sit back when you were meant to shine.
If youâve ever let imposter syndrome take the wheel, today's podcast episode is for you.

Photographers, listen up! I've got two questions for ya today...
Question number 1: Whenâs the last time you wanted to pursue an amazing & creative idea but never followed through because you felt like you never had enough time?
Question number 2: How many hours a day do you spend scrolling social media?
It kinda hurts when you think about these two questions side by side, doesn't it?
It kinda hurts when we realize how much time we spend each day scrolling and looking at someone else's life, or creations, rather than living and creating our own.
Now, Iâm not telling you to throw away your phone ... HECK NO.
Phones are a big part of our jobs as photographers. We need them to stay connected. What we donât need is for our phones to control us, and suck us in.
We owe it to ourselves and to our ideas to create, to live, to step away from screens every once in a while and find that creative spark in ourselves again (even when it feels way easier to loaf on the couch and scroll).
It reminds me of this quote from Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Big Magic:
âThe universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. The hunt to discover those jewelsââthat's creative living.â
On the podcast this week I want to talk about finding your creativity again, finding that spark of magic inside you, that jewel buried deep and bringing it to life.
