Body initiations. Rites of passages. Women's bodies.
Let me tell you a story.
This is a story that is still very tender in my heart that happened just 2 weeks ago as I went through a MAJOR body initiation that I was really not anticipating (I guess we never can, right? lol... seems to be part of the deal to be unprepared for it!).
And this story is simply one of the many ways this story has been told and will keep being told in your own life, as a woman living in a woman's body.
The kind of body initiations which come with some much questioning, where you make your body wrong, where you feel like you can't trust your body, where you feel like things should NOT be happening the way they are, where you want to CONTROL whatever is happening... that's the kind of body initiations I'm talking about.

I just turned 40!
Since being in my mid-30s, that number felt like a big deal and I have definitely felt scared of how my body will age, both in terms of what I look like and my health.

To me, an embodied, loving relationship with my life partner is all about not being in my mind all the time and really constantly practicing bringing all of the knowledge about love, healing, inner child, speaking our needs, communication, trust, vulnerability, and so much more... into the day-to-day. It's also about practicing being IN my body so I can be aware of the different sensations giving me clues as to whatever is working well or whatever could be improved in our relationship.

I started getting obsessed with desserts and sweets at a very young age and was typing my own cookbook with only dessert recipe on my parents' 386 computer back in the 90s.... lol
From there, feeling rejected by friends because of my appearance led me on this journey of trying to lose weight to fix myself and hopefully get the friendship and love I was craving...
... and the restrictions then led to emotional eating, stress eating, and binge eating and me feeling like completely addicted to sugar.
Chocolate was always my go-to and now I realize that it was the Spirit of Mama Cacao calling me all along... if you feel this pull towards chocolate, it may be the same for you, too!
See what happened for me on my journey to finding kakao and freeing myself from sugar addiction so you can do the same too!

Have you ever told yourself that your metabolism is broken or that there is something wrong with it?
I have done that for YEARS.
And those are the years where I struggled the most with my health, with my weight, with my body... and just with who I was as a woman in the world.
Metabolism is all about the circulation of energy.
There is nothing broken about your energy and the most important thing to do now is to look at where your thoughts, emotions, and actions are causing the energy to stay stuck and stagnant within yourself...
... so that this energy can circulate within yourself again...
.... which will increase your metabolism!
Hint: it starts with caring a lot more about how you feel.

We've made food so complicated and it's time to make it simple again.
Can food just be food? ... instead of numbers, food groups, and labels of "healthy" and "unhealthy"...?
Can kids simply learn to trust their bodies and feel how different foods feel in their bodies?
Can kids STAY connected to their bodies instead of dissociating and starting living in their minds from such a young age?
Can parents trust kids to know what is best for them?
The answer can be YES to all of these questions... but only if we do the work ourselves as mothers & parents.
It doesn't mean that we have to be perfect and have completely healed our relationship with food... it simply needs that we can practice awareness, presence, and trust with our Self & our kid(s).
