it's the first in-person taping of the GBS. unfortunately, nick and max hate spending time with each other and both of them are at wits end. we talk about the saxophone and other gbs related projects. i didn't mention the sick ass sandwich i had or how i think "rip ass" should mean something good instead of being a euphemism for fart.

October isn't the spookiest month because of Halloween, it's the spookiest month because of Sober October (Octsober, as some call it). Max and Nick got together to listen to Gregorian chant and really make things worse for themselves. That music is terrible. So is not drinking.

Our Introduction to Orchestral Instruments continues with the Trombone and the wildest man to ever do it, Oquendo. This was recorded sometime in September but Audacity crashed and I was really too lazy to go back and fix it but here it is!!!!!
-
Everyone knows the best part of this stupid ass show is the music Nick writes. Somehow, Max convinced Nick he should write a whole album in the style of the GBS music, focusing on a single composer and HERE'S THE RESULT. IT FUCKING ROCKS SACK. IT'S GOT EVERYTHING: MAHLER, LEONARDO DICAPRIO, BERNSTEIN, FREE JAZZ SAXOPHONE, WHAT MORE COULD TF YOU WANT FROM ONE ALBUM???? Anyways, if it isn't featured on Pitchfork's "Best New Music" by the end of the day I'm gonna do an I Think You Should Leave quote I can't really put in writing without getting the authorities called.

Kenzie returns to teach Nick and Max the history of the violin in 10 pieces, like those pop-history books you see everywhere. We learned a ton and had a great time!!! Come back to learn about the other instruments later!!!!!!
-
IT'S SUMMER VACATION BABY (at least for the idiot still in college, the other guy teaching public school still has a way to go), so here Nick and Max drink 40's and talk about their combined 40 favorite music related things, or some number close to 40, who really knows. We'll be back next month with a lecture from noted Prussian War expert Kenzie who is gonna teach us about the violin and some its most important repertoire. SEE YA THEN!!!!!!!
-
This episode is about two musicians, Ludwig van Beethoven and John Coltrane, with whom all that follow must reckon, discussed by two idiots, Nick and Max, who really don't know shit about shit.
-
Things are bad, how about listening to a podcast that's even worse? Max's audio got fucked up but you can still hear him, just sounds like he's calling in from the Canadian trucker convoy. Who knows, maybe he was. We discuss Messiaen, do Andy from The Office style album reviews, and play Louis Primska. Thanks for listening!!!!!
-
Nick and Max are joined by a very special guest in episode that is ABSOLUTE CHAOS to talk about our musical new years resolutions. You can fast forward about 15 minutes to start, and stop about 10 minutes before the end and you'll still get most of it. Or listen on 2.5x. Either way, thanks for a fun year of getting drunk and talking music. Here's to hoping we get better at this in 2022.
-
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from the GBS family to you and yours. Here we talk about some Christmas related classical music with an actual musician we kind of can't believe agreed to be a guest on the show with us idiot ass mfers that ain't know shit, and then we list our top 5 Christmas carols. LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
-
Nick and Max play Good News/Bad News, ponder sonata form, and rank the five best piano sonatas and the five worst ones for saxophone (we're all adults here and can admit they're all pretty bad). THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!!!!
-
holy shit this is so fucking late, meant to get it out before nov 6 and potentially even halloween and here we are. sorry. stay to the end and hear a recording of nick and i from 2008 that sounds like SHIT but we are playing bach so we have to put it on, that's the rules. I don't make em.
-
We got: The Village Vanguard, Thad Jones and all associated acts, live albums recorded at the Vanguard, drive-time call-in guests, DRANKIN, new music by Nick, AND SO MUCH MORE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE. DO YOU WANT TO COME ON THE SHOW NEXT TIME??
-
Join Nick and Max as they realize they don't know SHIT about classical music and score a combined 1/12 in a drop the needle style listening test.
-
Some pretty chaotic energy in this one as Nick and Max are joined by Kenzie ******* to discuss the Second Viennese School. Max talked way too goddamn much but he was drunk and loves Schoenberg, not too much you can do to stop it. Stick around to the near end to hear some new music by Nick that kicks so much ass it should win ten Grammy's.
-
Max and Jolly Old Taint Nick are joined by Tami "The Greek Freak" **************** to talk about a couple great movies, a couple middling, and a pretty terrible one. Recommend listening to this on 2x speed because it's long as fuck but that's what happens when the beer flows like liquor or whatever. LOVE Y'ALL.
-
Nick and Max are back for some frank discussion of minimalism, pasta sauce, The Expanse, and some other stuff. We play "Two Truths and a Lie" and edit some Wikipedia pages and let's see how long it takes for our edits to get taken down. Hope you enjoy! We'll be back soon with Episode 4: Movies About Classical Music. THANKS FOR LISTENING
-
WE'RE BACK. It's me and Nick and a special guest, a noted Schubert scholar that I can't believe we were able to get on. Got this shit down to a tight 82 minutes and there is less burping so know we hear your criticisms and we take that shit seriously. Keep em coming. The levels might be a little fucked in spots but I am too lazy to fix it. Sorry.
