Connor was living the dream - an intrepid traveller working and surfing in Bali. But something was amiss. For what many of us would describe as the perfect lifestyle, Connor found himself at times feeling disconnected and lonely. Craving the sense of community he had grown accustomed to surrounded by family, friends and footy. This came to a head one fateful night after receiving a call from a close friend who had just attempted to take his own life.
Upon returning home, Connor began fitness coaching. Re-igniting a long-held passion for helping others. Starting with just a few mates in a small studio gym, it quickly grew and Code5 was born. The impact he was able to have on his mate's physical and mental health inspired his ambitious goal to help 30,000 people lose over 5kg and keep it off. A journey that's seen him grow to 3 large gyms, enrich the lives 800+ members, raise over $100,000 for given charities, and even ride a tandem bike across America in collaboration with the Black Dog Institute.
In this episode of the Anti-Failure Podcast, Connor shares his insights and learnings that have helped him build not just a successful gym but also a massively engaged community. He and Chris discuss creating a quality service culture, finding employees that buy into your vision who want to stay for the journey, sustainable growth strategies, outsourcing to allow you singular focus, and being present when it's time to switch off.
