Up From Slavery is the 1901 autobiography of Booker T. Washington detailing his slow and steady rise from a slave child during the Civil War, to the difficulties and obstacles he overcame to get an education at the new Hampton University, to his work establishing vocational schools—most notably the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama—to help black people and other disadvantaged minorities learn useful, marketable skills and work to pull themselves, as a race, up by the bootstraps. He reflects on the generosity of both teachers and philanthropists who helped in educating blacks and native Americans. He describes his efforts to instill manners, breeding, health and a feeling of dignity to students.

Smart people like to talk about smart things. But we also like to talk about dumb things...really dumb things. Sesana and Bri cover both. “Ya, but who cares?” offers research on youth culture, economic, and political topics we all obsess over. We also offer ways to read beyond the headline or “click-bait” inviting our favorite experts, creatives and entrepreneurs to help inform our opinions.
We strive to help our audience gain nuanced perspectives on fundamental societal issues through digestible research and lively discussions. For the aspirational person, who wants to be informed and improve, but can't resist some good gossip. -
A podcast about an old fella using new tech. I talk about tech news and the tech I’m using in my old fart life. I also talk about entertainment and podcasting news. I’ve decided to stay away from politics but sometimes I can’t help myself. Consider yourself fore-warned. I’m retired military and a retired FED. I guess now I’m just tired. Now, if you're finished reading this, get off my lawn!
