Daniel Bear Davis began training in Somatic Experiencing in 2012. He brings an understanding of the body that is informed by 15 years of experience as a body worker and a lifetime of experience as a dancer and movement educator.Daniel sees clients one-on-one and in groups, on-line and in nature. His one-on-one work is also influenced by cultural somatics - the recognition of the larger web of human and non-human relations in which our somatic experience is situated. Sessions often thread the personal within the larger webs of ancestral lineage, nature, culture, and so much more. He works effectively with and without touch, as desired.
Along with one-on-one work, Daniel has used understandings from SE to guide the creation of performance developed in collaboration with a number of marginalized communities. In this work, he creates contexts where previously unspoken or isolating experiences become resources for creation and collective healing. Somatic Experiencing guided his creative process with EchoTheaterSuitcase project, in which he directed ensembles of military veterans and non-veterans in creative collaboration. He created performances based on personal stories with incarcerated men and women and with college students responding to interviews with Palestinian artists, activists, and refugees.
Daniel has worked as a massage therapist since 2004 and as a teacher of contact improvisation dance and embodied anatomy since 2006. He leads groups internationally - teaching tools for nervous system resilience as well as dance and embodiment classes. He has taught Axis Syllabus, contact improvisation dance, contemplative movement practices, and embodied anatomy in Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, and now on-line.

Reverence for Impulse is an unscripted, unplanned and (hopefully) unedited podcast with me, Weena Pauly-Tarr. Together with my guests, we’re asking what is alive in this moment?
We start each episode with a few minutes of meeting each other head-to-toe, through the language of our bodies, before we press record and bring it to a conversation. We start where we are. This is not a hard hitting agenda or getting to the bottom of things, it's about being in the bottoms of things.
Finding each other in the not-knowing. I’m here for the spaciousness, the awkwardness, the silliness, the silence — From the dark insides of our bodies to the brightness of our minds, I'm excited to welcome people who’s impulses I’d like to get to know.Website: weenapauly.com

Mariana's Bio:
One of my greatest passions is being in relationship. I love sharing, learning, teaching, being in presence with others and observing the unique impact that relationships have on each of us.
I am a psychologist, psychotherapist, master trainer of systemic-relational psychotherapists and teacher in trainning in Somatic Experiencing.
My clinical work with individuals, families and couples integrates psychotherapy and SE which allows me to navigate relational issues with a special attention to the body and its wonderful physiology. For me there is nothing more beautiful than being able to accompany my consultants and colleagues in training on this path of learning to live in their bodies with more presence and deepening their capacity to connect with others.

Nick Duran Bio:
My therapy practice is person-centered and trauma-informed, emphasizing collaboration and skill building. I utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and expressive arts therapy to address unhelpful ways of thinking and the bodily impact of stress and trauma. I meet clients where they are and offer treatment that is LGBTQIA+ affirming and culturally responsive. I am devoted to working with individualsfacing various issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD, grief, and life transitions. I believe individuals are the experts of their lived experience, and therapy is an investment in one’s success and empowerment.
In addition to attaining my MS in Counseling Psychology from California State University Long Beach, I have a background in the arts and education and hold a BFA and MFA in Dance. I enjoy dancing in nature—the beach, mountains, deserts, and forests along the west coast. I make ceramics and drawings in my free time, and I sing when I think no one can hear me. I believe in the transformative power of art—to heal and connect deeply with oneself and one’s community—which I bring into the therapeutic process.

Tim's Bio:
Whatever I do, the same skills apply across the board: empathy, honesty, collaboration, improvisation, and shared vision. So whether the arena is work, family, or partnership, these are the values I bring. A heart-forward curiosity has guided my path through professional life. The immeasurable value of getting outside my comfort zone led me overseas and into a career helping other Americans do the same. Meditation and questioning of cultural norms opened the door to the sacred field of end-of-life care. My love for community and new ways of collaborating took me to the forefront of the co-working movement. And my deep reverence for the body, the more-than-human, directionality, aimlessness, and (actually) irreverence brought me into my current work as a Somatic Coach. I work with clients from all backgrounds and seem to catch the attention of those seeking depth and direction around gender, sexuality, and their relationship with self/selves.

Nick grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan, where he is currently raising two young children of his own. He started practicing yoga in 2000 as an antidote to the head-centrism of college. He found it to be a beautiful combination of spiritual practice and exercise, a way to contemplate cosmic ideas as they manifest in the particular pleasures and pains of human life.
When not teaching, running his studio Grateful Yoga, or parenting, Nick likes to contemplate the fruitful intersections of yoga, Buddhism and science. He explores these ideas weekly in his newsletter Within Us and Without Us on Substack. His weekly classes aspire to this integration, mixing science and yoga philosophy with inquiry-oriented yoga practices.
Nick has extensive experience working with beginners, men, couples, emerging adults, traumatic brain injury, the chronically stressed, and those seeking to make yoga and meditation part of their daily routine. He is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapy. View his full resume here. In spring 2022, Nick trained at the Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership and now leads weekly outdoor experiences of communion with the lakeside lands around Evanston.
Nick has a degree in Computer Science from Brown University, where he also studied the theory and practice of Buddhist meditation. Other influences include the Chinese arts of tai chi and qigong, running, the somatics of Lisa Clark and Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, improvisational theater, West African dance, artmaking, communing with nature, and cooking.
