I hope you're all ready for Hallowe'en! Only a few more days to go, and I've got to start hoarding candy for Thursday. For the kids. I swear. But I'm up at an ungodly hour on a Sunday to make sure the show gets posted nice and early. It's already 2pm in Europe and I've not even had my tea yet! This week I'm getting the show posted nice and early because its going to be the last 20c sunny Sunday, and I've gotta get outside and soak up some of that vitamin D. But this week we dive a bit into the growly aggro stuff that I do love playing, but I find I really only like the "exceptional" tracks. Last week was a lot of fun. Its a lot more work, especially picking tracks, but the end result is a little gift for you all to enjoy! I'm glad the realization that we haven't done a "Best of the best" since 2017. That gave me a good 7 years of best of shows to pick out my favourites, and a maybe give an overall view of the great music thats been released and continues to. Of course, I forgot how much work compiling something like this is, and the longer show means more work. But it was definitely worth it, and I hope this one gets a fair bit of play. More work continues on the upcoming "Best of the Best" show, I have a track list, and now I just have to spend some time to start piecing it together. In more personal news, a valued contributor to RSA, my buddy Sundie, passsed away earlier this week. He was responsible for 3d printing the RSA tags, and even printed a replacement knob for a fan I have and embossed on the top "Real Synthetic Knob". There's a certain comfort on a Sunday morning, listening to the show before finalizing it with a grey cat on your lap, and the Orange Monster is nearby hoping to get his turn for scritches. Though it does make typing a bit harder than usual. I've been slowly working on a special "bonus" show for everyone as its been ~7 years since we last did a "best of the best" but it's really hard. Not necessarily selecting the tracks, but deciding which ones you need to leave out due to length. Its like choosing your favourite children. Not easy. Wound up catching a 48 hour flu this week so the show is a little later than usual. Had to stay up late last night listening to music so that I could get RSA done! The cold/flu sucked, but it was nice to just relax last night and let the music flow over me. Hopefully the coming week will be a bit better. Sad week week as it was announced that Héctor Marin Rios of Nordika passed away. Its especially sad as he'll never get to see how well the Lost Generation single is doing. My condolences to his friends and family. Welcome to the last week of August where we start to mourn the end of summer. Personally I think that Autumn is the most "goth" of all seasons because its cool enough that we can wear a nice leather jacket, but not so cool that you have to zip the thing up. I think I can still zip up my old jacket, but there might be some compression effect happening on my stomach. Its also the time that labels start getting things ready for the holiday season! We've had a crazy amount of rain this summer in Toronto. Had another flooding level rain storm yesterday, and it looks like this afternoon is going to be very "Sunny UK" ... ie grey and raining. Its another beautiful Sunday morning, so I'm up bright and early to get RSA posted. I always try to get the show up early because I'm aware that I'm technically 5-7 hours behind Europe, and I have to play catch up. Of course the West coast of the US is still asleep, so I'm nice and early for them. It always tickles me that we have listeners in practically every timezone, and a LOT of countries. I truly do wish that I travelled well because I could meet a bunch of people who listen or make music we play without having to go near a festival. (Multiple days of no rest, noise, and very bright lights do a number on me.) Well the Amazon issue seems to have resolved itself, so I went back through the play lists for May and June of this year and properly annotated them. As much as the weather so far this year has either been thunderstorming or sweltering on the weekends, this sucks for my cycling, but it does give me more time on the weekends to get RSA finished.
