  • Adulting has extra perks, like you have more say in your schedule, your food and what you do on the weekends. Yet, some aspects of being an adult are tougher than when you were a kid. Say, like making new friends! With many more responsibilities on your plate, not to mention hours required at work, it can be challenging to nurture old friendships and create new ones. Today my long time friend Kaitlyn joins us on the podcast, to share her advice about the following:

Why does God desire for us to be in community?

How Kaitlyn personally makes time to nurture friendships while leading a full life

Advice for making friends at work? And at church?

  • Today I'm sharing about a Biblical concept that has drastically changed my life. What is it? Learning I was the righteousness of God in Christ. Growing up, I don't remember sermons being taught on this concept. Boy, am I ever grateful that as a young adult, I was introduced to how being mindful of wearing the breastplate of righteousness in the armour of God could change not only my workdays but my LIFE.

Some of the Bible verses mentioned:

2 Corinthians 2:15 "For we are the aroma of Christ to God."

Titus 3-4-7 "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

Romans 3 23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

Isaiah 61:10 "I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."

Romans 5:1 "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Romans 5: 6-9 "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him."

2 Corinthians 5:21 "For He hath made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

Romans 3:22 "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe."

Romans 3: 26 "He did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."

Romans 3: 28 "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law."

Colossians 1:22 "But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation."

    4. The benefits of praying in tongues

Philippians 3:1 “Finally my brothers, rejoice in the Lord!” and also This is the day the Lord has made."

Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"

Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Ephesians 6: 5-8 "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free."

    Bible verses mentioned:

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Proverbs 16:31 "Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life."

    Luke 9:12-17

12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.”

13 He replied, “You give them something to eat.”

They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14 (About five thousand men were there.)

But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
