  • Welcome to Nightmare on Film Street's limited podcast series Trick or Treat! This Halloween we're treating you with a spooktastic new collection of episodes where we let the spirits of Halloween take the wheel and choose the films for us 👻

Each week we're pulling movies at random from our spooky mystery cauldron (a McDonald's boo bucket) and we're either going to be given a Treat- that's a horror movie we really want to talk about- or a Trick- a horror movie that we’d hoped we'd never have to discuss in public…

This week, it's either a brand-new American remake of a NSFL Danish shocker from only just a few years ago OR a bizarro so-bad-it's-good nightmare comedy that Kimmi has been trying to get on the podcast for years. Depending on what the spirits decide, we're about to be Tricked into watching Speak No Evil (2024) starring James McAvoy as a charming maybe-but-maybe-not serial killer or treated with Nothing But Trouble (1991) from the deranged mind of Dan Akroyd, featuring appearances from John Candy, Demi Moore, Chevy Chase and 2Pac!

But which movie will it be?? Will the Halloween spirits look kindly upon us and allow us to talk about the most insane road trip movie you'll ever experience, or punish us with a remake that we've seen the trailer for 100,000 times now??!?

Join ussss as we dive head-first into Halloween, cautiously dip our hands into the Cauldron of Chance, and ask "Trick or Treat?"

  • join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they close out their look back at the movies that defined The Summer of 2016. It was the year Beyonce released Lemonade, it was also the year that Nightmare on Film Street published its first episode, but more importantly, it was the year that David F. Sandberg raked in $148 Million at the box office with his super spooky, semi-forgotten debut feature Lights Out.

Lights Out was so dang scary and so effective that it pretty much set the template for every popular horror movie that come after it. And for good reason. It's still scary today! Heck, even NOFS Podcast's own Kimmi can't watch big chunks of this movie without covering her eyes. And somehow, Light Out isn't a movie that you hear horror fans talking about much at all these days. Why is that? How does a movie with an ultra-spooky villain, that scares the pants off of everyone that sees it, fall by the wayside after only a few short years? If you've been asking yourself the same question, Join usssss....

  • Welcome to the inaugural episode of Nightmare on Film Street's limited podcast series Trick or Treat! We're kicking off the Halloween season with a spooktastic new collection of episodes where we let the spirits of Halloween take the wheel and choose the films for us 👻

Each week we're pulling movies at random from our spooky mystery cauldron (a McDonald's boo bucket) and we're either going to be given a Treat- that's a horror movie we really want to talk about- or a Trick- a horror movie that we’d hoped we'd never have to discuss in public…

This week, it's either a new movie that every Horror fan has been asking for, for 30 years OR a new movie that absolutely no one wanted. Depending on what the spirits decide, we're about to be Tricked into watching The Crow (2024) starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs or treated with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) starring The Ghost With The Most.

But which movie will it be?? Will the Halloween spirits look kindly upon us or plunge us into the murky depths of a boring superhero remake of a 90s Goth classic that currently has a 22% rating on Rotten Tomatoes??!?

  • 2016 wasn't all political elections, celebrity deaths, and Pokemon Go fever. There was a lot going on that year but for one summer the entire world was ROCKED by......a turkey baster 😳

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon on this week's episode of the Nightmare on Film Street podcast as they look back at a simpler time. A time when you never sanitized your hands, and breaking into old people's homes to steal a bit of cash was a piece of cake. We're talking about Fede Alvarez's Don't Breathe (2016) this week in our celebration of the Horror Movies of 2016- A movie that showed the world he was more than just an Evil Dead remake.

Alvarez has become a household name for horror names but years before he took us into outer space for a fistfight with a xenomorph, he gave us one of the most suspenseful, anxiety-inducing, jaw-dropping thrill rides of our lives! Don't Breathe is a gritty, self-defense story wrapped in survival horror, with a midnight madness cherry on top with a gnarly you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it moment of pure insanity that makes us squirm to this day.

  • This week on the Nightmare on Film Street podcast we explore a close encounter of the 4th kind, as depicted in the 1989 cult classic Communion (1989). Featuring a truly unparalleled performance from Christopher Walken, this particular alien encounter has become on the most talked about experience in the world of Ufology and gave us the haunting extraterrestrial visage we've come to commonly refer to as "The Greys".

Your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon want to believe, but it's hard to stay focused when you've got Christopher Walken dancing around with a raw duck, or when he's crawling around with a bunch of alien hybrid babies on a spaceship, screaming at a doppelganger of himself dressed as a magician. Communion is a wild ride. Some might even say it's **drumroll** out this world....Joinn usss

  • We're breaking open the classified documents on this week's episode of the Nightmare on Film Street Horror Movie Podcast, diving head-first into murky waters of the alien conspiracy with The X-Files: Fight The Future (1998). Your hosts Kimmi & Jon are putting on their tinfoil hats and peeling back the curtain on government coverups, risking it all to expose the puppet masters pulling the string, and their secret plans to eradicate the human race!

Somewhere in there we also find time to talk about the 90s favorite power couple, Mulder & Scully, debate the ethics of a holographic 2Pac, yell at each other about the bees(!), and propose theories on the existence of extraterrestrial life. This world is a wild ride and one that's often impossible to accept, but if you also want to believe... Joinn usss!

  • We're back to BOOsics on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street, talking about horny ghosts, drunk vacationers, and Jennifer Tilly! Join your horror hosts Jon & Kim as they sit down for a sober discussion about the ins and outs of having sex with a ghost, as depicted in the unsurprisingly underseen 80s sex comedy High Spirits (1988).

Starring a truly unpredictable cast, including Bever D'Angelo (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation), Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill Vol. 2), Steve Guttenberg (3 Men and A Baby), Liam Neeson (Taken), Peter O'Toole (Ratatouille), Jennifer Tilly (Bride of Chucky), and more (!) High Spirits is an unhinged tale of a Hotel owner trying desperately to save the family castle by pretending that it's haunted. Of course, when real ghosts appear and stack shacking up with the guests, things go a little wonky. • Horror author Paul Tremblay joins your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon on this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street to discuss his newest work Horror Movie: A Novel. Available everywhere spooky books are sold, Horror Movie: A Novel is pure Found Fiction about a cursed movie, never released to the public following the disturbing events of its production back in 1993. But now that a big budget reboot is underway the sole surviving member of the original crew must face the horrors of the past again...

Paul Tremblay's previous novel The Cabin At The End of The World was recently adapted by M Night Shyamalan for Knock At The Cabin and his breakout A Head Full of Ghosts is currently in development. Horror Movie: A Novel takes inspiration from those ventures in the Hollywood system but it also serves as a vehicle for Tremblay to talk about his own obsessions with horror movies. Join us for a chat with three confirmed horror movie addicts, talking about what makes books scarier than movies, book recommendations for the modern horror fan, and how Tremblay discovered his passion for writing later in life.

  • We're talking M. Night Shyamalan's Signs (2002) this week on the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, and we're feeling the rural horror love. Join your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon as they dissect the emotions from the facts, and get down to the real meat of it; why would aliens who have a weakness to water wage war on a planet that's 80% wet?

We've got corn. We've got crop circles. We've got crackling baby monitors. We've got shadows on the roof. We've got... surprisingly few cows?

Signs (2002) stars Mel Gibson as Graham Hess, a former preacher turned farmer who's lost his faith after a family tragedy. Living on a Pennsylvania farm with his brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) and his two kids, Morgan (Rory Culkin) and Bo (Abigail Breslin), Graham starts noticing some seriously weird stuff around his property. As the Hess family tries to figure out what's going on and fight off some not-very-persistent extraterrestrials (save for one that's got a personal vendetta to settle), they confront their deepest fears and find strength in each other.

So, grab your tinfoil hats and join us as we dive into the mystery and corn-filled madness of Signs (2002). We'll debate alien invasion logistics, question the tactical genius of water-phobic extraterrestrials, and maybe even throw in a few corn puns for good measure. No, we definitely will.
