When his two young siblings are stolen by marauders, Jeremiah, the oldest of 11 children, must find a way from his little Louisianna town of Mud Haven to the slave farms of Texas, crossing paths with raiders, gangs, and zombie-like creatures called giggle-shakers along the way.
