If you’re a long-term listener of KICPOD you’ll remember Producer Mandy! You might also remember that Mandy was producing the podcast when Laura opened up about her fear of not coping with kids, and Mandy said she felt exactly the same. Fast forward just over one year later and Mandy is now the proud mum of her first daughter, Lyla.
In this episode we asked Mandy back in the studio to sit on the other side of the desk and share about how she went from being terrified of having kids to being so stoked to be a mum. We also touch on Mandy’s decision to have a planned cesarean and the judgment she anticipated and copped from the decision, her journey to becoming a mum, and her advice to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by the decision.
WE MENTIONED
Mandy speaks in this episode about going to therapy to unpack her fears. It’s called ‘Laura expresses her fear of not coping’ and you can listen here https://pod.fo/e/224085

Tarang Chawla became an activist against men’s violence after his sister Nikita Chawla was murdered by her partner in 2015.
We’ve been talking about violence against women a lot on the podcast this year (and every year) because unfortunately it’s an issue that’s not going away. In this episode we invite Tarang onto the podcast for the third time to talk about men’s violence, the impact of alcohol and gambling on violence, and what you can do as a bystander to safely stand up to street harassment.
Plus Laura shares about her experience witnessing and standing up to a group of drunk and aggressive young men at the AFL Grand Final and what Tarang would’ve done in the same situation.

After a six year hiatus, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show returned this year. The show was choreographed by an all-female team and featured greater cultural, age and body diversity than ever before, but the show still fell short in many ways. We have our say.
Plus Laura lost a diamond in her wedding ring which made us wonder if any of you guys had ring horror stories…and you did!

Froomes (aka Lucinda Price) is a writer, comedian, broadcaster and author of ‘All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot’. Her book is a memoir-meets-manifesto about her experience with anorexia and binge eating disorder as well as exploring the pressures on young women to look a certain way.
In this special conversation we sit down with Lucinda to find out why she got a nose job and breast augmentation, and how she feels differently about each surgery, how moving from Melbourne to Sydney and working in media pushed her to change her body, the moment she knew her “healthy eating” had gone too far, and how she has reached a place of total recovery.

If you’re an Australian millennial woman, you know Tammin Sursok. She played Dani Sutherland in Home & Away in the early 2000’s and Jenna Marshall in Pretty Little Liars. Tammin has been in the public eye since she was a teenager. Faced with that pressure, Tammin struggled with eating disorders throughout her teen years and early 20’s.
Now Tammin has two daughters. Her experience with eating disorders informs the way she speaks to them about food and their bodies in the hope that they will never go through what she did.
In this episode Steph sits down with Tammin to learn about how eating disorders took over Tammin’s life, becoming a mum and adjusting to her postpartum body, and how she responds when one of her daughters calls herself fat.
Trigger: in this episode we discuss eating disorders. If you or someone you know needs support, you can contact the Butterfly Foundation 7 days from 8am - midnight AEST on 1800 33 4673.

Allira Potter was never the sporty kid growing up. Like many of us, her memories of running at school were discouraging at best. But earlier this year, when she felt her mental health declining, Allira knew she needed to make a change, so she pulled on their runners and started her running journey. Allira’s first run sucked. But she stuck with it and it's changed her life.
In this episode Allira shares how her running journey started, her goals starting out versus now, the impact of training with her partner, how she feels about sharing her runs on social media, not comparing herself to others, and learning that she can walk and still be a runner.
Plus we start with an oracle card reading from Allira and learn more about her journey to spirituality.

Seriously, in a recent audience survey we asked you which guests you loved and OVERWHELMINGLY you guys said Alexis, so we brought her back on the podcast to talk about purpose and turning desperation into attraction to get what you want.
In the first part of the episode we talk about purpose: what is it, how to find it, how it should feel in your body when you experience it, and how to find a purpose that serves you but also includes others.
Then in the second half of the episode we talk about one of Alexis’ most popular podcast episodes ‘Turning Desperation Into Attraction’ and Alexis explains how wanting something too much could be the thing that’s pushing it away.

What if the worst case scenario happened? What if you set a goal, threw everything at it, told the world for years that you were going to achieve it…and then you didn’t? Australian boxer, Harry Garside, spent years telling the world (and himself) that he would win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. He came home without the gold medal, but in the 20 years he spent trying to achieve his goal, he became friends with himself, which to Harry is more valuable than any medal.
Trigger: this episode mentions suicide & suicidal ideation. If you, or someone you know is struggling, Lifeline is available 24 hours a day on 13 11 14.
In this episode Harry sits down with Steph & Laura to debrief how he is feeling post-Olympics, the importance of feeling the failure, his purpose, what his next goal is, and what he is learning from putting himself through an uncomfortable challenge every month for the past five years.

This week we call on relationship coach and friend of the KICPOD, Megan Luscombe, to help answer one of your questions: “I looked through my partner’s phone and saw intimate photos of him and his ex. What should I do?”
Megan unpacks the nuances of looking through a partner’s phone and offers advice for anyone who’s snooped and found something they didn’t want to see.
Then we switch gears as Steph and Laura share some of their plumbing disaster stories (IYKYK 💩).
Would you be Steph or Laura in this situation!?

Dr Billy Garvey is a developmental paediatrician and a senior specialist at one of Australia’s largest tertiary paediatric hospitals. He has over 20 years experience working with families and children, and training other professionals on how to work with children, plus he’s the dad of two little ones, so he's able to see first-hand how his research and advice plays out in real life.
Billy’s book ‘Ten Things I Wish You Knew About Your Child’s Mental Health’ takes the lessons Billy has learned from two decades working with families and children, including behaviour, social skills, attachment, respect, depression, anxiety and self-esteem.
In this episode Steph speaks with Billy about the biggest misconceptions people have about children’s behaviour and mental health, what to do before, during, and after a child erupts, why parents shouldn’t tell children “it’s okay” when they’re having a meltdown, emotional regulation and how parents can model it for their children, the warning signs for anxiety and depression in children, and why parents looking after their own mental health should be their number one priority.
