  • In this episode, Michelle discusses insights from Gay Hendricks' book, The Big Leap, focusing on overcoming self-imposed limitations, identifying your "Zone of Genius," and achieving work-life balance.

    Key Highlights:

The Upper Limit Problem (ULP): ULP refers to self-sabotage when we unconsciously limit our success, love, or happiness. Michelle encourages journaling thoughts and recognizing self-limiting beliefs to move past them. Four Zones of Work: Incompetence: Tasks you’re not skilled at; delegate these. Competence: Tasks you can do but others can do equally well. Excellence: Tasks you excel at but may keep you in a "comfortable trap." Genius: Activities you’re uniquely gifted at and passionate about, bringing fulfillment and flow. Finding Your Zone of Genius: Reflect on activities that energize you and where you naturally excel. Delegate tasks that drain your energy and focus on needle-moving activities. Ask for feedback to identify overlooked strengths. Practical Steps for Balance and Success: Take small actions daily to focus on energizing tasks. Delegate or eliminate non-essential activities. Define success for your current life season and give yourself grace. Use Hendricks’ concept of the "enlightened no" to prioritize meaningful work. The Power of Coaching: Coaching helps uncover blind spots, challenge limiting beliefs, and explore new possibilities for personal growth and success.

  • Welcome to 2025! Join me today in our first episode of the year where I am sharing actionable advice and strategies for starting 2025 with clarity and control.

    Here are some highlights:

Start Small: Choose one strategy and implement it today. Small, consistent actions lead to meaningful, lasting change.

Future Self Vision: Instead of setting traditional resolutions, imagine the person you want to become this year. Think about how you'll think, feel, and act a year from now.

Word of the Year: Choosing a guiding word like "rooted" can set the tone for your year. It's a simple yet powerful way to align your energy and intentions.

Time Blocking: Move beyond to-do lists by scheduling specific time slots for tasks. Incorporate buffer time to accommodate unexpected changes, and honor those blocks as non-negotiable commitments to yourself.

Smart Goals and Priorities: Break down your goals into specific, measurable, and actionable steps. Focus on what truly aligns with your values and unlearn the idea that "busy" equals productive.

Delegation and Saying No: Outsource or eliminate tasks that don't require your direct involvement. Protect your time by setting boundaries and learning to decline tasks that don’t align with your priorities.

Journaling and Planning: Use tools like the Priority Playbook Planner to clarify your goals and map out your priorities. Writing things down clears mental space and helps with accountability.

  • Join me today as I share recent insights from trailblazing women who participated in the recent Women in Leadership conference hosted by SHRM.

In this episode, I shared the key leadership insights and lessons I gained from attending a recent women's leadership conference. A standout message was the importance of speaking up and not staying silent, as silence can allow others to define your path. I emphasized the power of finding mentors, advocates and allies who can see your potential, as well as the value of building resilience, being open to reinvention, and seeing challenges as opportunities.

I also highlighted the importance of inclusivity in leadership, such as actively soliciting different perspectives from your team. As you let go of power your impact will grow.

Another takeaway was the benefits of breathwork and future-casting to build belief in yourself, as well as the powerful concept of "sisterhood", where the idea that when one woman rises, we all rise.

Throughout, I emphasized the need for leaders to show up authentically, rather than having all the answers. I encouraged listeners to reflect on their values, goals and habits to help them grow as leaders. This conference truly left me inspired and energized, and I'm excited to share these impactful lessons with you.

  • In this episode, host Michelle Bourque discusses the concept of being the "Chief Self Officer" (CSO) of your own life. Drawing inspiration from her experience at the Women in Leadership Conference, Michelle emphasizes that leadership is not limited to titles - it's about leading with influence, impact, and authority in all aspects of your life.

    Key Takeaways:

Develop a mindset of personal leadership by taking charge of managing your own life with strategic focus, just like a CEO runs a company. Continuously redefine your goals and success to align with your changing values and circumstances. Prioritize long-term goal fulfillment over short-term impulses through intentional decision-making about your time, energy, and resources. Implement time blocking to hold yourself accountable and ensure you're taking actions that move you towards your objectives. Treat self-care as a non-negotiable, and start small if needed - the key is to make it a consistent habit. Build a network of mentors, allies, and supportive relationships to foster growth and collaboration, just as a CEO builds a network for organizational success. Focus on making waves, not just creating ripples - small, intentional actions can lead to significant changes in your life.

By embracing the role of CSO, you can live with greater agency, resilience, and fulfillment, benefiting not only yourself but also those around you. Start taking small, daily steps towards becoming the leader of your own life.
