Turns out children arrive with no manual. There's no coherent online tutorial.
Between staying up to date with emerging technologies and balancing work and home life in an industry that often requires un-timeable bug fixes, on call schedules, and more, working parents are balancing a lot.
Parents are also exploring additional technical issues like "screen time" or internet privacy, coming at these issues from a different perspective as technologists ourselves.
We cover all of these topics and more using a panel of parents coming from diverse perspectives and a variety of technological backgrounds. We'll shine light onto these issues and provide a valuable food for thought for these folks.
Want to ask a question that the panelists can discuss in an episode? Email us at [email protected].

We love our children and we would do anything to protect them. But what if one day you made a fateful mistake that could cost you your child’s life? You know you would never intentionally do anything to put them in harms way. You would never deliberately leave your baby strapped into their car seat, get out of your vehicle, lock the doors, and walk into your office to sit down and start your work day, knowing your entire world is in the backseat. You would never say “today looks like a good day to bypass my child’s day care provider and let them sit in the car by themselves with the windows rolled up.”
I'm Laura Beck and my son, Anderson, passed away on June 28th, 2022 after my husband, Aaron, unknowingly left him in the backseat of his car while he went to work. He found our baby after it was too late, and, in turn, he took his own life due to the guilt and heartache.
Beck's Backseat to Change is a podcast dedicated to raising awareness surrounding hot car deaths and near misses, as well as bringing more focus on laws that need to be put in place to ensure our little ones are kept safe.
Join me on this journey where I share stories, aside from my own, from other families that have lost their child due to a hot car death and people who have experienced a near miss.
Let this podcast be a resource and extra layer of precaution on how to prevent these types of tragedies from happening.
If you have a story of your own experience and would like to share (anonymously if desired), please contact me by going to becksbackseat.com or message me directly on either Instagram at becksbackseatpodcast or Facebook at Beck's Backseat to Change.
Our stories are what will help bring more attention to these tragedies and show people who believe this could never happen to them, just how easily it can. -
