Some of the greatest stories buried in the folds of history...until now.
A podcast that uncovers the lifetimes and achievements of prolific warlords from ancient and medieval times.
Going beyond the mainstream historical figures that everyone is familiar with, providing a thorough account of lesser known warriors and leaders that were titans during their respective ages.

Trapped History tells the stories of the forgotten – of people who have been ignored by the history we’re taught in school.
Their stories have been hidden because of their gender, ethnicity, class or sexuality – hidden because of the times they lived in. We want to do a simple thing at Trapped History: to reboot our sense of history. As the writer and activist James Baldwin wrote, “History is not the past. It is the present. We carry our history with us – we are our history.”
Each episode will tell the story of someone we’ve never heard of, with Oswin and Carla joined by expert guests who help us understand about the past and the present. So tune in to hear all about the African and Jewish war heroes, the women who changed the course of science and of the people who circled the world. And maybe you will also get the chance to meet the greatest singer, the trailblazing sports star and the most fearsome hero you’ve never heard of.
Because their histories are our histories.

Welcome to Extra History! A weekly podcast version of Extra Credits' weekly video lessons on YouTube. By applying the same research that the entertainment industries have so successfully used to get and keep people’s attention, Extra Credits makes education as engaging as watching a movie or playing a game. Because learning matters.

The Global and Imperial History Research Seminar is chaired by Professor Judith Brown (Beit Professor of Commonwealth History), Professor John Darwin (Beit Lecturer of Commonwealth History), and Dr Jan-George Deutsch. The seminar meets each Friday afternoon during term, where a visiting, usually, scholar's recent research is presented. Those present then engage with both the historical material and historiographical questions of the work. The following podcasts are presented as a means of continuing those discussions and as a resource to those unable to attend. The Global and Imperial History Research Seminar would like to thank each of their speakers for their cooperation in making these recordings available.

St Anne's stands out in Oxford as a college that is down to earth, modern, informal and open to the world. It also has a determined sense of its academic purpose.
It began in 1879 offering a university education to women who otherwise would have found it unaffordable. It became a full College of the University in 1952. It has taken both men and women since 1979, and is now one of Oxford's largest colleges, with over 400 undergraduates and 150 graduates. -

Charlemagne, anyone? The Renaissance? The ‘scramble for Africa’? Most of us know bits and pieces of Europe’s back story – but probably lack a sense of how it all hangs together. So that’s what I’ve aimed to provide in this narrative series. The 5-minute Introduction should give you a good idea of what’s on offer, and whether you might enjoy it.
