890,000 people in Ireland experience asthma at some stage of their life.
Your Rhinological health, like sinusitis can complicate the management of asthma which is why when looking for effective solutions, it’s so important to follow your nose.
To explore this further, I’m joined by Ms. Mona Thornton, Consultant ENT surgeon at St Vincents University and the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear University Hospitals and specialist at St Vincents Private hospital. She is also an associate clinical professor at UCD who subspecialises in inflammatory and allergic conditions of the nose and sinuses. She is Co-Founder and current President of the Irish Rhinologic Society & Prof. Marcus Butler who co-leads the severe asthma clinical service at St. Vincent's University Hospital and has published extensively in the international medical literature. He is an Associate Professor/Consultant Respiratory Physician at University College Dublin and St Vincent’s University Hospital, where he is actively involved in clinical trials of severe asthma treatments. He is the Medical Director/Board Member of the Asthma Society of Ireland, a member of the European Respiratory Society, and the European Academy of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.
Later in this episode I am also joined by Professor Eleanor Dunican to understand immunotherapy and its current role in managing allergic rhinitis.
