We’re diving back into the world of nuclear energy—but this time, we’re shifting our focus to regulation. In our previous episode, we explored nuclear technology with Erika Magrini, discussing existing and future plants. Today, we tackle the legal framework shaping Italy’s nuclear future.
The MASE has presented a draft bill aiming to establish, by 2027, a Unified Nuclear Code and a National Program to regulate the entire lifecycle of nuclear plants—from construction to decommissioning and waste management. The government envisions a framework based on “sustainable nuclear” principles, with key implementation details to be defined through decrees in the 24 months following the entry into force of the decree.
However, critical questions remain:
🔸 What type of plants will be developed?
🔸 Who will support relevant investments?
🔸 Is a new referendum necessary?
🔸 Who will oversee authorizations?
🔸 Could Italy build nuclear plants abroad?
To unpack these complexities, we’ve brought in Ivano Saltarelli, Partner at #GreenHorseLegal who helps us navigate the key issues at stake.

Minister Pichetto Fratin has recently signed the draft bill framework for nuclear energy in Italy—but which type of nuclear plants will actually be implemented remains uncertain.
In this episode, our colleagues Erika Magrini and Daria Buonfiglio take a deep dive into the fundamentals of nuclear energy, exploring available technologies, plant types, and sizes to understand where Italy might be headed in its nuclear revival.
🔎 Topics discussed:
🔸 Fission vs. fusion – what’s the difference?
🔸 Types of nuclear plants – size, generation, power output
🔸 Are Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) already in trouble?
🔸 Fusion energy – the real game-changer?

As the world races toward net zero, green hydrogen could play a crucial role in replacing fossil fuels in hard-to-abate sectors, supporting energy storage, and strengthening energy security. But what are the challenges ahead? Our colleagues Massimiliano Livi, Consultant at #GreenHorseEngineering and Daria Buonfiglio, Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications at #GreenHorseAdvisory, will dive deep into green hydrogen and its role in the energy transition discussing
- What hydrogen is and how it’s produced
- Where and how it can be used
- The infrastructure challenges for transportation and distribution -
Welcome to the debut episode of #EnergyNova, the podcast that explores the most pressing topics in renewable energies, groundbreaking technologies, and market trends. In this episode, we delve into the energy transition: its progress, lessons from past transitions, and what still needs to be done better. We discuss why this transition is critical—not only to decarbonize our economy but also to achieve energy independence in Europe, a continent lacking substantial energy resources like oil and gas. Challenges include its top-down implementation, the urgent need to upgrade infrastructure for renewables, and the increasing energy demand driven by AI and other energy-intensive technologies. Our guest, Iacopo Magrini, CEO of Green Horse Engineering, provides expert insights into the technical and economic aspects of the transition and what it will take to accelerate change. Hosted by Daria Buonfiglio, Head of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Green Horse Advisory, this episode is packed with reflections and forward-thinking strategies for professionals and enthusiasts alike.🎧 Tune in now to Energy Nova and join the conversation!
