Immediate Records, disquera británica fundada por Andrew Loog Oldham a los 21 años. Productor, compositor y representante, recordado especialmente como manager de los Rolling Stones, todo un visionario a la hora de moverse en el negocio de la música. Como capo de esta discográfica licenció en Inglaterra muchos lanzamientos de artistas de EEUU, y editó a numerosos nombres británicos vinculados al folk, el blues, el soul o la psicodelia. George Bruno Money, conocido como Zoot Money, fue un cantante y teclista de los años dorados del Rhythm n’ Soul británic. Nacido en 1942 y fallecido el 8 de septiembre de 2024, a los 82 años. Rescatamos en este episodio su álbum “Zoot!”, grabado en directo el 31 de mayo de 1966 en el Klooks Kleek Club, pequeña sala de jazz y R&B ubicado en el Railway Hotel, en West Hampstead, junto a los estudio de la Decca. Aquel álbum, que se convirtió en su mayor éxito en listas, consiguió plasmar el tremendo poderío de esta explosiva banda en su momento de máximo esplendor.

Ojo a lo último de Nathaniel Rateliff, lo próximo de Lost Acapulco o a la reedición del primer single de Los Monjes, mejicanos de los años 60 haciendo garaje punk con hábitos monacales. Anunciamos Festisurf (es este finde), el Wachina Wachina -¡traen a The Prisoners!- y la tercera edición del HolaNola Lab-Fest, el cual recorrerá las ciudades de Santiago de Compostela, Madrid y Ourense entre el 17 y el 28 de septiembre con una programación de conciertos vinculados a la música de Nueva Orleans.

El viernes 13 de septiembre se lanza en todo el planeta el disco “Indoor safari” (Yep Roc), nuevo álbum de Nick Lowe con Los Straitjackets. Un día antes lo presentamos en exclusiva, escuchando en primicia esta nueva colección de canciones a cargo de uno de las más brillantes compositores que ha dado el pop y el rock’n’roll de los últimos 55 años.
Estrenamos también el primer adelanto del próximo álbum de los suizos The Jackets, disco que se editará a mediados de octubre bajo el título “Intiution”.

Clyde Otis nació el 11 de septiembre de 1924. Con motivo de su cien cumpleaños dedicamos nuestro tiempo de radio a picotear en el inabarcable legado de uno de los grandes compositores del siglo XX. Ben Vaughn es cantante, guitarrista y compositor. Productor de leyendas como Nancy Sinatra, Charlie Feathers o Arthur Alexander. Autor de bandas sonoras para películas, documentales o series de televisión. Ha grabado discos con Alex Chilton o Kim Fowley. Incluso grabó un álbum dentro de un coche. Regresamos al club The Matrix, pequeño local situado en el 3138 de Fillmore Street, en San Francisco. Un club abierto en 1965 por Marty Balin, cantante y líder de The Jefferson Airplane, grupo que dio su primer concierto en la noche de inauguración. Dos años y medio después, el 1 de febrero de 1968, y convertidos ya en una de las bandas más icónicas y exitosas de la contracultura, Jefferson Airplane regresaron a ese pequeño escenario para ofrecer una íntima actuación ante unos pocos elegidos.
