Dave B and Dave D are waiting for your messages!
Dave B has often bemoaned the lack of options in his part of the world, but he has nothing to complain about this time around, with not one, but two, breweries from Essex and Cambridgeshire!
Alan from St Botolphs Brewery offers a fascinating insight in what it's like to be brewing on a small scale at a target audience, while Ricky Dolphin from Burwell Brewery provides more classic beers with a modern twist.
Dave D is angry, again, in our Tried and Tested feature , while Dave B talks through a recent holiday to Derbyshire and the beers he sampled.
Our Brew To Me section in which we try beers from breweries we haven't sampled before comes courtesy of Libertalia Brewing Company in London and Macho Mango Brewery in South Wales.
All this and more on the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast! -

It's another little milestone for the podcast as we release our 60th episode! We're closing in on four years of Daftaboutcraft but there's no sign of slowing down!
Big beers are the order of the day with our guest, Mike Watch, aka Breakbeat Brewing. Mike unashamedly brews imperial stouts and not much else and when he's as good at it as he is, why do anything different?
Our Brew To Me selections are from a chance encounter in a service station for Dave D with Problem Child Brewing, while Dave B enjoys finding out just how much Brinkburn St Brewery in Newcastle do.
Hype or Tripe is definitely not Chubbles. Instead it's a trip to Yorkshire Heart for a pinot porter and a nelson IPA which earn rave reviews!

Easter has been and gone but we've still got lots of hops for you in the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
Our main guest is Alex Bell, who is head brewer for New Wharf Brewing Co. Alex has a raft of experience in the industry, dating back the best part of three decades, and that shines though in a discussion that ranges from fish and chips to witches and everything in between!
Brew To Me has a pair of beers which sound similar and both taste great, with easy-drinking, tasty stouts courtesy of Cod Head Brewing Company from Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Ramsey Island Brewery in Essex.
Dave D has been out and about with his microphone and gets the lowdown from Simon and Gazz, the brains behind the Craft Brew Festival as they helped brew Hazy Daze, their special beer for their series of festivals this year that kicked off in Manchester the weekend just gone.
Sam, the Brewer's Wife from Copper Beech Brewing Company is here to tell us about a recent trip to the craft beer paradise of Bristol - a day that involved a safe word and visits to Wiper & True, Fierce & Noble and Left Handed Giant.

It's Easter this week, and we have something better to offer than chocolate, the latest episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
The two Daves may be left hopping mad later in the year, as they take on Siren Craft's three 'Guess The Hop' beers. The results won't be in for a couple of months, but the taste test was still very enjoyable!
Our guest for this episode is Sean O'Reilly from Brid's Cross Brewing (pronounced Breed's). Sean is a natural-born storyteller, and his beers also tell a story, with origins in myth and folklore. Based in Rochdale, his beers have their history in some traditional styles, but have been given the modern craft beer twist.
Brew To Me features a trip to the Brecon Beacons for Dave B as he samples something a bit different from Sobremesa, while Dave D is Spitting Feathers courtesy of the Wirral-based brewery. Both of these outfits offer so much more than beer, and a perusal of their websites is highly recommended!
Dave D was rubbing shoulders with the brewing cognoscenti at Beer X recently and gives the lowdown on who he met up with and the various venues he visited while in Liverpool - all this and more on our latest episode.
Happy Easter!

We're back with a brand new episode, and also the start of a new era for the podcast! Having hinted at our big news on the previous episode, we're delighted to announce our new partnership with Tap Door.
Tap Door is a craft beer webshop with a difference, as they, like us, love to shine a light on smaller breweries. The beers you hear us talking about on episodes will more often than not be available on Tap Door, and we're looking forward to working with Ollie and the Tap Door team.
This episode is brimming with new beer, some of it so new it's not even labelled! Dave B was told about a brewer in his local area when in the pub, where else, and that brewer is Gareth Francis, of Gruff Brewery in Stratford St Mary, Suffolk.
Gruff is very much at the early stage of development, but the beers are big on flavour, and Gareth tells us all about his plans and the inaugural Gruff Fest set up for the summer. Dave B also nails a mystery hop during the chat, much to Dave D's annoyance!
For Brew To Me, Dave D is feeling the chill. Not literally, instead he is sampling what Edinburgh-based Cold Town Beer have to offer, while Dave B takes a trip towards the south coast for a stout courtesy of Many Hands Brew Co.
Two beers, one brewery is the setup for Hype or Tripe as we sample the goods from another new brewery, Dark Element Brew Co in Caerphilly. Brewer Tom has wasted no time in generating buzz around his beers which only launched this year, and he is off to a flying start!
All this plus the Brewer's Wife (aka Sam from Copper Beech Brewing Company) is here with an honest and open discussion about how things might not always be as they seem.

It's the Valentine's Day gift you've been hoping for, another episode of Daftaboutcraft, the craft beer podcast!
There's a distinctly Welsh feel to this episode as we feature not one but two breweries based in the land of the dragon. First up are Axeljack Brewery, aka Craig and Ian, who only started their South Wales-based brewery in August 2023, but have wasted no time in releasing quality beer. While Craig looks after the brewing, father-in-law Ian takes care of the business, and the pair place the emphasis squarely on flavour with their beers. Dave D was very impressed by one beer in particular - find out which one and where you can get hold of it.
It's Wales to the fore in Brew To Me, as Dave B samples a beer from Geipel Brewing in Corwen. Brewer Erik has an interesting background, and is dedicated to showcasing lager and its varieties. For Dave D, it's a trip to Skipton and Two Rocks Brewing Co and their Dry Hopped Pale Ale, which belies its modest 2.5% ABV.
For Hype or Tripe, we saddle up and hit the Oregon Trail, and road test some beefed-up versions of Elusive Brewing's most well-known beer, while The Brewer's Wife talks about the perils of social media. To share or not to share?
We are sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears with a trio of tempting discounts to take advantage of. Eagle-eared listeners may also work out what our big surprise is, which will be fully disclosed on the next episode!

Welcome to our first episode of the new year! We're back (that's us, Dave B and Dave D) with a whole raft of craft beer goodies for you.
We chew the fat with Dan Wright from Hideaway Brewing Company, one of six breweries in Salford, and he tells us 'it's all about people' as we discuss the realities of the beer industry at a time when breweries are closing on what seems a daily basis.
Just because it's January doesn't mean we're not drinking - far from it. We're embracing Tryanuary rather than Dryanuary, and that means we're turning our attention to DMC Brewery in Leeds and Old Tree Brewery in Sussex to try some alcoholic ginger beer and some Kombucha - plus an idea of where to go if you want to expand your craft beer horizons with a city break.
The Brewer's Wife - aka Sam from Copper Beech Brewing Company - is here to reflect on the last 12 months of life at the sharp end, highlighting the importance of stopping to appreciate what has been achieved and revealing her favourite moments from 2024. And, while we're in reflective mood, we've got some big brewing numbers for you too. Get ready for all the stats - litres of beer made, pints sold, collabs arranged and more!
All that and plenty of other features, including Brew To Me where we put the spotlight on 2023 startup Dungeon Brewing from Derbyshire and a beer produced in Belgium especially for Vespers bar in Bury St Edmunds.
We are sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on most episodes with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of.

It's Christmas! And with the festive season comes what has become a Daftaboutcraft tradition, so we're pairing up another six beers with six cheeses in a bid to find the perfect taste sensation.
But that's just part of this bumper episode as we're also shining the spotlight on new York-based nano operation Trig Brewery, whose webshop has gone live in the last few days. We talk to founder Patrick, find out what made him want to start a brewery in these testing times and how he hopes the year ahead will pan out.
The Brewer's Wife isn't telling the stories this time, but rather listening to a story involving her husband Dan from Copper Beech Brewing Company as she finds out about a crunching experience that left a fair few scratches and dents.
In Brew To Me, we're sampling beers for the first time from the Mysterious Brewing Company in Reading and Two Towns Down Brewing from Paisley.
All this and plenty more, including what we can expect from the craft beer scene in 2024 as we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.

Our latest episode kicks off in traditional style with the Brew To Me feature. Dave B heads to Surrey to check out a beer from Disruption Is Brewing, while Dave D pinpoints Scotland's most southerly operation and tries Summerisle from Five Kingdoms Brewery.
We are joined by Craig and Gareth from Worcestershire's 3 Words Brewing for an in-depth chat about a hobby that turned into a business and is all about brewing harder to find craft beer styles. What do they want to achieve? What will the next 12 months hold? Do they regret making the move? They answer all the questions and talk about their passion for good beer.
Sam, The Brewer's Wife from Copper Beech Brewing Company is back to give her alternative insight into the world of craft beer, and this time the story involves an aeroplane that didn't always look like an aeroplane!
We focus on a series of beers from Durham Brewery in Hype Or Tripe. Will 10% Russian imperial stout Temptation live up to expectations - and how does it match up against it's rum barrel-aged counterpart Imperious?
We are sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on most episodes with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of.

We kick off episode 52 of our craft beer podcast with Brew To Me, in which we sample beers from breweries we have yet to try. This time the spotlight falls on Renegade Brewery in Berkshire and Iron Pier Beer from Kent.
We're in Reading for our main chat this time, getting the lowdown on an operation that is not just about the beer, but also about the music and the films. All will become clear as we chat to Rich from Future State Brew, who is as passionate about the 1980s as he is about the excellent beers he produces in his nano brewery.
It's been a while since we gave a beer the Hype Or Tripe treatment so it's time to get the microscope out and see if the fifth birthday creation from Grimsby's Docks Beers hits the mark.
We are sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on most episodes with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of.

Welcome to episode 51 of the craft beer podcast presented by Dave B and Dave D.
This time we're peeling back the layers of Edinburgh's Stewart Brewing to find it's not at all what we expected. We find out about their Project 7, an innovative concept that has produced all manner of exotic offerings since its inception in 2018. As we're chatting with brewer Nathan, we try their Oktoberfest beer, and that is a theme that runs throughout the episode. In Tried & Tested, where we discuss our favourite beers since the last episode, there is high praise for a major supermarket's seasonal offering, while Any Other Beerness hones in on a timely release from our sponsor.
We are joined by Sam, one half of the Copper Beech Brewing Company from Kidderminster, who tells all about life as the Brewer's Wife. And this is a good one, as we find out about a kit upgrade that has seen husband Dan increase his brewing capacity significantly.
We kick off the episode with Brew To Me, in which we sample beers from breweries that have recently come on to our radar. This time the spotlight falls on 3am Brewery in Surrey and Crich Brew Co in Derbyshire.
As if the episode was not packed enough already, we also have appearances from James at Lakedown Brewing Co and Brook at Brolly Brewing to give us exciting updates since they last appeared on the podcast.
We are sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on most episodes with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of.

We've reached our half-century and we've got a packed episode in (mini) celebration!
We kick off in traditional style with Brew To Me, the feature that has become a firm favourite with us - Dave B and Dave D. This is where we crack open a beer from a brewery that is new to us. This time we shine the spotlight on St Ives Brewery and we stay at the seaside - quite literally as you will hear - with Lost Pier Brewery. Callum and Dan join us to give some tremendous insight and leave us wanting more of their beer.
Our main chat this time is with Rhys Smith, head brewer at Caps Off Brewery in County Durham. Dave D met Rhys at a beer festival during the summer and just had to get him on to the podcast to find out more about him, the beers he makes and his views on the craft beer scene.
The Brewer's Wife - aka Sam from the Copper Beech Brewing Company - drops in to tell us what has been happening with the brewery from her perspective, and there is an amusing tale to tell.
Tried and Tested is the part of the podcast where we talk about the beers we've enjoyed most since our last episode, and this time we highlight memorable experiences with Trillium Brewing from the US and Missing Link Brewing from Sussex.
The podcast is sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on each episode with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of. In this episode find out how to grab ten per cent off your first order!

We're off on our summer hols to an often overlooked part of the United Kingdom when it comes to craft beer. Actually, we don't leave South Staffordshire or Suffolk, but we - that's Dave B and Dave D - track down six breweries from Northern Ireland we haven't had beers from before as we present our latest Brew To Me special.
We sample delights from Lacada Brewery, a community-owned co-operative from Portrush, Belfast-based Ormeau Brewing Co and Out Of Office Brewing, Spadetown Brewery in Lurgan, the innovative Our Brewery, a branch of equipment and ingredient supplier Ger 'Er Brewed, and McCrackens Brewery in Randalstown.
It's a fascinating insight into names that often don't appear in the spotlight as all six are either nano or micro operations. We are joined by a representative from each brewery to talk us through their business, how and why they started and the beers they produce as we unearth some exceptional creations.
The podcast is sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on most episodes with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of.

Here we are with episode 48 as we edge closer to our half-century. Dave B has been very busy at home getting used to a new life with baby Bob B, but he's back with Dave D to present an episode that features no less than TEN voices!
We're joined by Adam and Joe from East London's Neckstamper Brewing and Lucy and Lizzie from Edinburgh's Closet Brewing Project in our feature Brew To Me, in which we hear from a brewery that is new to us and try one of their beers for the first time.
Sam from Copper Beech Brewing Company pops by for a chat about life as a Brewer's Wife and what challenges have been thrown her way in recent weeks, and staying in Worcestershire, Dave D reports about a memorable beer from 3 Words Brewing and Dave B talks about a milk stout from Norfolk's Ampersand Brew Co that has been doing the business.
Hype Or Tripe is back in town and sees a triple IPA collaboration from Pipeline Brewing Co and Phantom Brewing Co being put under the microscope and an appearance from Pipeline's head brewer Jonny to talk us through the beer and how it came to be.
Finally, we pick up the story with Twisted Wheel Brew Co as owner and head brewer Anthony joins us for an update from North Yorkshire.
The podcast is sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on each episode with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of. This episode find out how to get 10 per cent off your order!

A few months ago we came across Mill Hill Brew Co from Enderby near Leicester for the very first time. We sampled their beer in the Brew To Me feature on episode 42 and were impressed. So much so that we've since sought out more from this nano operation - on cask and in can - and have become even bigger fans.
So on this episode we are delighted to have an extended chat with Harry, the brains behind the brewing side of the operation that works hand in hand with the Mill Hill Cask and Coffee Pub, which we also find out about.
Harry talks us through the beginnings of Mill Hill, his ethos, what he wants to achieve with his beers and what he hopes the future will hold.

We've been back behind the microphone to produce another packed episode with loads of craft content. Regular listeners will know how Dave B often bemoans the lack of modern breweries in his neck of the woods, but Artefact Brewing from Ixworth in Suffolk are helping to put that right. James and Kat take a break from their hectic lives to chat all things beer and discuss how their business is shaping up with three years under their belts.
Brew To Me drops into Germany and Stockport as we have a first taste of beers from Atelier Vrai and Neighbourhood Brew Co. We are joined by Nico Doring and Jake Astbury from the two breweries who offer unique insights - and some tremendous beers, including the lesser-spotted white IPA!
In a couple of weeks' time, Hobsons Brewery from Worcestershire will be celebrating their 30th birthday. Of course, there is a special beer to celebrate the milestone, and founder Nick Davis joins the pod for a chat and a drink, discussing three decades in beer, bingo (yes, really!), and why he has huge respect for what craft breweries are achieving and why traditional operations often struggle to go head to head with them.
There is plenty more going on throughout the episode, including The Brewer's Wife on why moving into an empty unit just over a year ago came with far more headaches than expected.
The podcast is sponsored by online bottle shop Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on each episode with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of. This episode sees Andy offer two free cans with your order, so be sure not to miss out!

We're closing in on our half-century of full episodes as we present number 45 to you, with all of our usual craft beer-related goodies and more.
Brew To Me kicks us off, featuring beers from newcomers G3 Brewery in Burton on Trent, and low-alcohol specialists Near Beer. And we're joined by Daryl and Suneil to tell us all about their operations and their beers.
In Tried and Tested we reflect on the beers we've drunk since our last episode and reveal our favourites, while our new mini-feature Barflies sees a visit to The Bailey Head in Oswestry, where Dave D finds a tremendous selection of craft on keg, cask and in the fridges.
In our main interview we talk to Matt from Alter Ego Brewing Co in Derbyshire. Not only does he run the brewery and taproom but he's also the brains behind The Tip Inn. We talk about his enterprises, the industry and what the future might hold.
It's no secret that Dave D has a passion for sour beers from Edinburgh, thanks to Vault City. But how does their new Peach Ice Tea table beer square up as it undergoes the Hype or Tripe treatment?

There's plenty going on as Dave B and Dave D return to your ears with episode 44 of Daftaboutcraft.
We kick off in traditional fashion with Brew To Me, where we try a beer from a brewery we haven't sampled before. This time we're putting the spotlight on Broadtown Brewery and Spookton Brew Co and we're joined by Jason and Jon for an insight into these breweries from Wiltshire and the Wirral.
Sam from Copper Beech Brew Co in Kidderminster is back for the latest Brewer's Wife, and there's an amusing tale to tell about a new vehicle and how life as part of a brewery is never altogether straightforward.
We put the Hype Or Tripe focus on a big-hitting stout made by those wizards in the East Midlands at Reckless Dweeb Brew Co and Bang The Elephant Brewing Co. We saw the pictures from when this was made and it looked a particularly messy session with the brewkit. But how does the end product taste?
In Any Other Beersness we welcome back Anthony Barrett from Twisted Wheel Brew Co to give us an update on the brewery he resurrected from extinction at the end of last year, while there's an interesting taste test going on as well - from cask legends Timothy Taylor's.
The podcast is sponsored by Hops At Home, and Andy Marsh appears on each episode with news on his latest stock and an offer for you to take advantage of. This episode sees an extension of the Daftaboutcraft box - 12 beers from north-east breweries including Almasty, Two By Two, Full Circle, Wylam and more, delivered to your door for £50, inclusive of postage.

Join Dave D in West Sussex on this special bonus episode of Daftaboutcraft as he pays a visit to The Old Dairy at Chiddinglye, home of Missing Link Brewing.
Recorded in the brewery's superb taproom, Dave and co-owner Jeremy Cook cover a wide range of subjects from why the core range keeps getting bigger and bigger to why Missing Link became synonymous with doughnuts during lockdown to sustainability and a new part of the business - Missing Link Glamping. And having stayed in one of the glamping pods during his visit, Dave highly recommends the experience. So much so that this bonus episode includes a special discount code giving listeners 10% off their stay.

Easter may be over but here's an eggstra treat, it's the latest episode of the Daftaboutcraft podcast, absolutely bursting with beery content!
Wensleydale Brewing have been around long enough to see the craft beer scene change hugely, and Miles Lapprell joins us to explain their journey and discuss how he sells their beers (he's a busy man as there is literally a new one every week)!
There could only be one set of beers for Hype or Tripe, but what do we make of this year's Chubbles offerings from Cloudwater and The Veil?
Our popular Brew To Me feature, in which we try breweries that are new to us, takes in Dave B's recent trip to North Yorkshire with a sampling of beer from Bayonet Brewing and the lowdown from owner/brewer Alex, while Dave D checks out Lady Luck Brewery from Whitby and is joined by head brewer Arran.
This latest episode also features the unveiling of our brand new sponsor - Andy Marsh joins us from Hops At Home to reveal all, talking about his love for the craft beer scene and what teaming up with Dave and Dave means to him. There will be new offers on each and every episode for you to take advantage of, kicking off with the Daftaboutcraft box - 12 beers from north-east breweries including Almasty, Two By Two, Full Circle, Wylam and more, delivered to your door for £50, inclusive of postage.
Regular listeners will recall we recently took part in our very first collaboration, and the result was a beer called Gloop, in conjunction with the Oil Basin in Worcester and Copper Beech Brewing Company. Dave D and the Brewer's Wife crack open a couple of cans to see what it's like - and there's a special listener offer to get involved with if you fancy trying it out for yourself!
