  • From aerospace engineering to being a leading voice of Responsible A.I., meet Dr. Kelly Cohen.
Dr. Cohen is the Brian H. Rowe Endowed Chair in Aerospace Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. With over three decades of experience in Fuzzy Logic systems research, Dr. Cohen has advanced Explainable A.I. from autonomous robotics to personalized medicine.
His work has earned him the presidency of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society and grants from NSF, NIH, USAF, and NASA. He's also co-founded Genexia and serves as Chief Scientific Advisor for BrandRank.ai, bridging academia and industry in the pursuit of ethical, transparent A.I. systems.
Dr. Cohen is also our organizing partner for CincyAI for Humans, the largest A.I. meetup in all of Ohio that I co-host with Kendra Ramirez. CincyAI takes place every month at the University of Cincinnati’s Digital Futures building which is an interdisciplinary research facility home to globally recognized leading research in responsible A.I., including Dr. Cohen’s lab. As A.I. rapidly integrates into every aspect of our lives, Dr. Cohen's focus on responsible development couldn't be more timely or critical.
In today's conversation, you'll hear Dr. Cohen's insights on the current state of A.I., the importance of Responsible A.I. development, and his vision for a future where A.I. enhances human capabilities without compromising ethics. We'll discuss his work in testing and verifying A.I. systems, the exciting developments happening at the University of Cincinnati, and why he believes that being responsible with A.I. doesn't mean sacrificing innovation.
Dr. Cohen’s enthusiasm for Responsible A.I. and his commitment to making the world a better place through technology is truly infectious. Join us as we explore the intersection of A.I., ethics, and human potential with one of the field's most passionate and knowledgeable voices.

  • How do you keep your agency in the age of A.I.? Listen in to find out!
For the 50th episode of Creativity Squared, we have Sam Jordan, a futurist on a mission to spread “plausible optimism.” As a Manager at Future Today Institute, she helps clients navigate and plan for unpredictable futures with certainty. Sam also wrote on computing, the metaverse, space, and A.I. in the 2024 Emerging Tech Trend Report, released annually by the company’s renowned founder and CEO Amy Webb at her equally famous SXSW keynote.
With a background in economics and data science and a passion for sci-fi, Sam found her dream job in strategic foresight, writing evidence-based sci-fi to inform real-world strategies.
Previously, she was the CEO and co-founder of TrovBase, a secure data discovery platform, and before that, she worked at IBM modernizing IT systems. Sam holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Data Analysis from George Mason University and an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business, where she met Amy Webb.
As a huge fan of the Future Today Institute and Amy’s SXSW keynotes, I couldn't be more excited to have Sam on the show to give us a glimpse into the future and share practical insights on building resilience in this time of massive transition.
In this episode, you'll hear Sam's insights on the convergence of A.I., biotech, and connected ecosystems, creating a "supercycle" unlike any general-purpose technology that we’ve seen before. We discuss the consolidation of power in tech, the importance of resilience, and the need for experimentation during this transitionary period.
We also dive into fascinating trends like using human brain cells to power chips, universal basic income to address the social safety net, and the importance of human purpose and meaning during this seismic change. Sam also shares her favorite sci-fi influences and emphasizes the power of storytelling and scenario planning to shape the future.

Nik is not only an Emmy-grade storyteller but is also an immigrant and the son of a nonconformist artist who the Soviet government persecuted. Nik’s life story and varied experiences inform his diverse approach to creative work, from exploratory use of A.I. within storytelling to design-led title sequence work, and live-action commercials. He’s won numerous advertising and creative industry awards as a creative director. As an entrepreneur and executive, he has started and operated successful and innovative business enterprises, including Native Foreign. He’s the Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at the women-owned creative agency-production company hybrid based in LA that’s worked with OpenAI on different projects.

  • Join us as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Creativity Squared!
We at Creativity Squared don’t want anyone to have their head in the sand and then feel like they’ve been hit by a Mack truck with A.I. and all that’s coming. That’s why this platform is dedicated to empowering creators, artists, and curious minds to unlock exponential creativity and confidently navigate A.I. in the new Imagination Age.
Whether you want to protect your IP and never use A.I. or understand how to accelerate your creative output, you need to know what’s happening, what’s coming, what important conversations are taking place right now, and how they will impact you. If you don’t know where to begin, you’re in the right place.
Every Thursday, the host Helen Todd interviews trailblazers in A.I. – from artists to ethicists to those building the tech — who understand that A.I. is a tool to amplify the best of human potential — not replace it.
Check out this special episode to learn more about the origins of the show, the learnings Helen has gained, how she’s involved in uplifting Cincinnati’s 2.25 million residents with A.I., and more.
Here at Creativity Squared, we invite you to join us in envisioning a world where artists not only co-exist with A.I., but thrive.
Thank you for being part of the journey, joining the conversation, and co-creating a human-centered future with this technology.

Rudi is a gaming executive with a professional focus on creating systems and spaces that empower creators to do their best work. As Riot Game’s Director of Corporate Operations and Strategy, he helps senior executives and game development teams set clear goals, build exciting new capabilities, and thoughtfully allocate resources through a combination of strategic thinking and tactical implementation.
