  • It feels crappy doesn’t it? When business is SO busy that it feels like it’s running you? I get it, I’ve been there. We’ve all been there but, did you know? There’s a way you can run your business without it running you. No, REALLY.

Award winning business coach, international keynote speaker, author and podcaster, Angela Henderson, is dropping some serious wisdom on this episode of the Brand in Bloom Podcast.

Angela tells us about her incredible business journey from e-comm to coaching and how she became one of Australia’s leading parenting bloggers AND one of Netflix’s Top 30 Influencers in Australia. WOWZA!!

Her specialty? Helping women in business get all the pieces in place to have consistent 5 figure months and then onto 6/7 figure years without burning out in the process.

She’s also *quite* the whiz when it comes to setting up multiple income streams, which is something I know we’re all curious about.

    This episode answers questions like…

What are the benefits of multiple income streams? How can I avoid burnout no matter how many businesses I have? When is the right time to hire someone smarter than me (i.e. a coach or consultant) to help me grow and how do I break down the fear barriers that keep me hesitant + stuck? How can I build the right support system for me? Why is hiring a consultant so worth it and how do I look beyond the premium price tags when hiring help?

Plus, Angela shares loads of examples to help you visualize the power of pay to play and how you can make immediate improvements in your business right now to make 10x more progress (and profits!)

This episode is sooo good! You don’t want to miss it!

  • Often times, when people hear the word “marketing” they think of the trendy stuff like social media, email, blogging but, the truth is, marketing is SO much more.

In fact, one of the smartest marketing strategies you can have in your back pocket right now as a business owner has absolutely nothing to do with how many followers or subscribers you have.

It’s a magical little tool called Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO.

You may have heard of it before and thought to yourself “That’s too advanced for me to figure out” or “I’ll start SEO when my business gets bigger” or “I have no clue how to approach SEO so I’m just going to put it on the back burner for now.”

Well, SEO and Pinterest expert, Julia Bocchese hopped on the Brand in Bloom podcast to shine a bright light on SEO and why it’s better if you start earlier rather than later. Actually, SEO is how your business can grow exponentially bigger with way less effort than populating an Instagram profile. Try adding Pinterest to the mix and see just how much you can maximize those clicks!

In today's world, your website is your storefront so it better be optimized for search, baby!

And, the best part is - THIS IS ANOTHER FREAKIN’ FREE MARKETING STRATEGY YOU CAN USE TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS. You just need the right resources to create your plan of action, which Julia tells us more about.

This is not the time to be scared to try something new. It’s time to level up your learning and Julia is giving us her best insights on this episode!

    This episode answers questions like…

What is SEO? What role does Pinterest play in SEO?What are some examples of good SEO on my website? How can shops get customers from Pinterest? How is Pinterest strategy for product shops different from service-based businesses?

This week's episode is a quick little pep talk you can bookmark + listen to whenever you're doubting yourself + your progress, like I did this morning. Hence popping on the mic to record this for you spur of the moment.

  • Kelsey Chapman is an author, podcaster, and personal cheerleader to women building their dream life and business.

When she first launched her own brand in 2015, she felt all the overwhelming feelings, too. It was scary to take such a huge leap and commit to showing up for a dream she didn’t know would pan out. Mentorship is what pushed her to rise up and continue making her dream a reality. Over the first few years of business, she leaned on the shoulders of several incredible mentors who took her under their wing and taught her how to make the jump from dreamer to doer.

Kelsey needed their expert wisdom to shift old perspectives, discover the next right steps that would help her execute the vision, and stay hopeful throughout the journey. Her mentors helped shape her character so she could become the CEO and leader she is today. Now she is excited to pay it forward and be that cheerleader for you, too… because she believes YOU can turn your wildest dreams into REALITY.

I invited Kelsey on the podcast to enlighten us on how she’s found her mentors, the best investments she’s made in her business + to learn more about the risks she’s taken on her own as a female solopreneur.

    Episode Highlights

How Kelsey grew her following to 100K followers in just 5 yearsWhat it takes to grow a strong personal brand + stand out in your industryWhat most industry pros aren’t saying about how they grew their followings on social mediaKelsey shares her top Instagram tips for organic growth in 2021(psst…time to prioritize COMMUNITY + VIDEO)How to find the right mentors for you + why they’re pivotal to your success in life + businessWhat investing in your business really looks like + how to find the support you needHow Kelsey continues to pivot in her business no matter how the societal landscape evolves

  • Speaking at summits has completely changed the game for my business as a marketing coach + solopreneur. The last one I spoke at helped me garner 500 new subscribers from ONE presentation + it didn’t cost me anything but roughly 30 minutes of my time. Those are way better results that I could ever see from any paid ad in such a short period of time + that audience is still warm today! I want you to experience that success too. Summits = amazing, genuine, lasting connections without breaking the bank.

That’s why I invited my friend, Krista Miller, to come on the podcast + tell us all about virtual summits + how to host successful ones, especially if we’ve never done it before + have a very small audience.

At Summit In A Box, Krista Miller helps entrepreneurs 3x their monthly revenue through virtual summits without wondering where to start or what to do next. Her method is focused on strong connections, collaboration, and making a difference in the lives of everyone involved.

    In this episode, you'll learn...

What is a virtual summit? Why Krista started her journey with virtual summitsHow she got the word out for her first summit + saw such amazing results from the get-goWhat you need to host a profitable virtual summit + what you don'tWhat are the most important pieces to hosting a virtual summit that actually works? How a virtual summit can help you sell more courses/services/productsHow does summit pricing work? What are “All Access Passes”?Are summits possible for physical product makers?Summit success stories (these are my fave!)

  • Wanna know what gets Sean + I really excited every year? Like, goofy, giddy excited?⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    GIVING BACK.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We're not big on physical gifting + accumulating stuff (or being the reason others do). Instead, we prefer to invest our time + money in meaningful experiences, like family trips (when that was a thing) + giving back to our community.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each year we make a donation to our charitable giving partner, Children's Legacy Partnership, in the names of our closest family members + friends + it always puts a smile on their faces.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm also partnered with this same organization on behalf of my business + am proud to donate a portion of the proceeds from my online programs to Children's Legacy Partnership each year, along with offering complimentary marketing services to them every quarter.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Giving back can take many forms, especially in business.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Social impact is imperative to growth as a brand. This episode breaks down why that is + how you can make charitable giving a priority in your life + business.

    Here are this episode's highlights

    >> One of the best ways to strengthen brand integrity and overall exposure

    >> A handful of ideas to give back on behalf of your business

    >> How I give back in my business each year

    >> The best way to spread the word about your giving efforts

    >> How to select the right charity for your business

*You can hear from founder of CLP on episode #10 of Brand in Bloom Pod*

This year, I encourage you to think of ways you + your families can give back, whether it's time or money. A little can go a LONG way. For example, $25 to Children's Legacy Partnership feeds a family of 4 for one month overseas + supports the actions the organization is taking here at home to educate our nation's children.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I encourage you to pick a charity, local or global, that aligns with your passions personally or professionally. Education has always been close to mine + Sean's hearts so Children's Legacy Partnership made the most sense for us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What makes the most sense for you? How can you + your business give back?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Maybe client + staff gifts this year could be donations in their names to a charity in your community OR you donate a product / service to a cause?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Our form of gift giving looks a bit different + I hope it inspires you to think about how you can make more of an impact with your gift giving this season + beyond.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • In this episode, I speak with maker Lisa Zimmermann of Oak & Oliver Candle Co. who tells us the unique ways she pivoted her business during the pandemic and how it’s skyrocketed her success. Interestingly enough, pivoting for Lisa didn't just mean ramping up messaging for her digital storefront on Etsy - she was already doing that. Lisa was forced to get even more creative + in a matter of DAYS was able to whip up one of the best collaborative ideas I've seen come to life in a long time: a virtual market with local makers in her community.

From production to execution, it was truly incredible (and inspiring!) to witness Lisa's magic come to life with this virtual market + even more exciting to see how her idea continues to bloom...and I'm not just saying that as her friend :)

Lisa is telling us how she came up with the unique idea, saw it through and continues to evolve it. Of course, we talk about some other helpful tid bits along the way that she's also doing on top of that to scale her small batch soy candle business out of her home. Believe it or not, the virtual market wasn't the only way she got creative.

Tune in for this truly insightful conversation with a business owner, product maker, + genuinely amazing human being who's doing it RIGHT.

Oh, and did I mention that Oak & Oliver isn't Lisa's full-time gig? She got her start in the Silicon Valley tech scene (*cough* Google *cough*), and now works at a global software. I don't know where she finds the time but she does + I hope her stories of taking massive imperfect action will inspire you to do the same with your business too.

    Episode Highlights:

    >> [1:24] The story of how Lisa got started with Oak & Oliver Candle Co. back in 2015 + where she is now on her 5 year brand-iversary.

    >> [4:50] How she learned to create a product that was a long time interest but completely new to her. Great tips for the aspiring makers out there who want to make something of their own!

    >> [7:40] A look at how Lisa creates thriving wholesale partnerships with local shops + what she does to strengthen those relationships regularly, in addition to running her online shop on Etsy.

    >> [9:45] 5 examples of how Lisa uniquely scaled her online business during the pandemic, starting with taking her makers markets VIRTUAL + starting a subscription program for her candles on Etsy.

    >> [18:24] The only thing required to successfully grow your business as a maker in today’s world. Hint: it’s not money.

    >> [22:22] Helpful tips for categorizing your online shop, whether on Etsy or Shopify, + Lisa’s #1 piece of advice for other aspiring product makers out there.

    >> [26:58] Lisa shares a special gift with Brand in Bloom listeners! (Scroll down for more info)

  • As many of you do (or don't) know, I'm a military spouse - my husband is in the US Army. Its been a very interesting learning curve as a new "milso" + business owner. While I may not know every acronym or have it all figured out like the books say I should by now, I sure have met a bunch of powerhouse women (and fellow military spouses) who have enriched my life (+ business) in the best way, including the one I interviewed for this episode: Abi Ray of Legacy Magazine.

As a licensed counselor and coach with eleven years within the service community, Abi Ray, LMFTA seeks to encourage and equip individuals in their personal, professional, and relational lives. In 2017, she launched Legacy Magazine as a tangible way to empower service families and the communities that champion them. Most days you can find her unwinding with her husband and two daughters or immersing herself in literature on professional development, family enrichment, and trauma-informed care.

Each year, on the podcast, I like to highlight a fellow military spouse or veteran in honor of Veteran's Day. This year, I'm honored to highlight one who understands the importance of carefully crafting a meaningful narrative, whether it's inked in a magazine or written in a social media post. I wanted to bring Abi on to enlighten you, my sweet listeners, on the importance of storytelling, the critical need for patience + planning, the power of taking action + leaning on collaborations within your networks of family, friends + colleagues to build a fruitful business that has the ability to market itself with the right nurturing.

Abi's story is one of hard work + determination. It's one that all business owners, whether they have a military affiliation or not, need to hear again + again. She is a model for the Brand in Bloom motto of blooming boldly where you're planted by staying rooted to what matters + she lives a life fueled by, not just living up to her full potential, but helping others see the potential in themselves. To me, that's something we could all learn to do a bit more of - coming together, building one another up, listening, supporting + acknowledging our communities as a means to help them shine bright, not dim their spotlight.

Here is a breakdown of this episode:

    >> [3:11] Abi tells us the story of how she started Legacy Magazine + what helped it come to life.

    >> [5:33] The first steps toward bringing a product to life stars with good mentorship + surveying your networks.

    >> [11:49] How intentionally focusing on quality over quantity helps Abi scale the growth of her magazine.

    >> [14:43] The importance of storytelling + carefully crafting your own narrative.

    >> [15:39] The 7 questions Abi's team asks themselves before creating a new volume of the magazine. Things you should ask yourself while crafting content for your audience too!

    >> [19:00] Abi walks us through how they plan out their brand + marketing strategy in a way that deeply involves their audience.

    >> [23:33] What's been most surprising about Abi's experience.

    >> [26:22] Abi shares a freebie for Brand in Bloom listeners! (see below)
