Enhver bil fortæller noget om sin ejer, men hvorfor ikke lade ejeren fortælle historierne selv. I Graus Garage møder du en række kendte bilejere og deres biler gennem livet. Det handler om bilerne, men også om det liv, der har udspillet sig omkring dem. Om karrierevalg, familieforøgelser, drømme og passioner. Det er kendte mennesker, som du ikke har mødt dem før, nemlig til livsstilsmæssigt serviceeftersyn hos vært Christian Grau.

Danmarkshistorie med foden på speederen, så du næsten kan lugte benzinen og mærke vinden i håret på turen rundt i vores fælles historie. Bilentusiast Christian Grau og museumsinspektør Mette Boritz fra Nationalmuseet kører ud i det blå i forskellige, ikoniske biler, der på hver deres vis har været med til at tegne vores fælles historie.
Fra efterkrigstidens folkevogn over hippiernes folkevognsrugbrød og yuppiernes åbne sportsvogne til nutidens elbiler. Undervejs fortæller Christian Grau om bilens køreegenskaber, udstyr, lyden af motoren og alle andre relevante detaljer, som bidrager til at sætte bilen ind i den tid, den blev lanceret.
Mette Boritz giver det historiske perspektiv: Hvordan så samfundet ud på den tid, bilen blev skabt? Hvilke behov skulle bilen opfylde, og hvad skulle den signalere? Hver gang parkerer de to bilen et sted, som siger noget om bilen og tiden.
En ægte bilnørd, som har oplevet det meste af bilhistorien bag rattet, fortæller med: Nemlig tidligere racerkører Thorkild Thyrring.
