  • In today's episode, I'm sharing that I'm going to be taking a pause on this podcast. I have mixed emotions about this decision, but I have a lot going on in my life right now. We just had another baby, and we bought another business, so I feel I'm being called to spend time in other places.

I'd also like to find some clarity on what this podcast is about. It started as an agriculture and rural business podcast, but I've really spent a lot of time talking about entrepreneurship. So, I'll use this time to figure out what direction to take this podcast in. And I'll still be providing business coaching and running Snowy Mountain Marketing as well as our new business, 406 Design.

I appreciate everyone who has been listening, and this isn't a goodbye! This is just a pause for now; I will talk to you soon!

  • In today's episode, I talk about my basic $100k marketing strategy that can help move your business forward. I share my history of what I faced striving for that number, really wanting to find the formula that worked for me. You'll also hear the importance of sticking with a strategy for at least 90 days, even though it's difficult to wait for results when you want them quickly. Showing up consistently with your efforts is key.

My strategy teaches you to start with the least amount of offers to be clear and concise to your audience. It also shows you how to build a content creation plan with content pillars and structured media posts. You want to focus on building relationships by providing free value and making it easy for people to buy from you.

You can learn more about the strategy I talk about in this episode in my Business Accelerator Membership.

  • Snowy Mountain Marketing, my website development company, was started in 2020. I was so excited to land my first client, who was looking for a professionally developed website. I knew how to develop it, but I didn't exactly know what to put on it. I learned from Donald Miller's StoryBrand how to clarify messaging and copy that is simple yet drives conversion.

In today's episode, I'm sharing the three questions your website must answer to ensure it's making as big of an impact as possible. This episode will help you start your strategic framework to ensure the content on your website brings you the most business.

  • In today’s episode, Brandi Lahey and I talk about all things entrepreneurship in rural Kansas. Brandi has a degree in nursing and didn’t set out to be an entrepreneur, but her rural location, staying home with her children, cooking for harvest dinners, and doing tasks on the farm made her look for something to fill her cup even more.

Brandi’s first business, Cimarron Prairie Farms, started by growing hops and selling them to local breweries. She later opened a mobile bar, The Tipsy Farmer, a unique and rare business model for Kansas when she began in 2021. The mobile bar was a part of different events, which led her to purchase a property with an old horse barn to turn into a wedding venue, Wild Sage Ranch.

Brandi shares different dynamics of entrepreneurship in a rural town, including the obstacles and challenges, as well as the most rewarding and exciting parts. We also talk about professional and personal development and how big of an impact it can make.

  • I am so excited to share that this is my one-hundredth episode! I have been podcasting for almost two years, and I can’t believe it. Every week, I hope my episodes give you and your business value. Since today is a big milestone episode, I wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes look at what it looks like to start and grow a podcast. Hopefully, it will help guide you if you’re wanting to start a podcast of your own!

When I started my podcast, my main goal was to market my business. But I also wanted to share my business knowledge and help others learn more about me before they enter my coaching programs.

There are a lot of logistics for a podcast. I tried to manage the editing process for a very short time before I realized I couldn’t give up that much time from the rest of my business. So I hired my podcast manager, Jill Carr. I plan and record the audio, and then Jill’s team takes it, edits it, mixes it with my intro/outro/commercials, and uploads it to a podcast platform. They also create Instagram Reels for my podcast that I can post on social media as well. There’s just a lot to it all!

If you’re an entrepreneur, your time is best spent creating and recording the content for the podcast and delegating the rest. If you can commit to consistency, you’ll continue to grow.

  • If you’ve listened to my podcast or worked with me before, you probably know how much of an impact the very first coaching program I joined had on my life and my business. One of the biggest things I learned from that program was how much of an influence the people around me had on my habits, my thinking, and my life in general. It’s when I learned you are who you hang out with.

My beliefs stemmed from what the people around me said and thought. And if I wanted to change that, I had to change who I was spending time with. I wasn’t ready for that at all, but as I started to progress in my business, I understood how important it was for me to surround myself with high-level thinkers and entrepreneurs. This was a huge step in my personal development. I want to now be in the room with people who have proven to be successful so I can learn more and grow.

In today’s episode, I encourage you to do a good audit of who you hang around with and how they may be influencing your success. Are they inspiring and adding value? Are you taking in negativity from them that could be holding you back? This episode walks you through how to level up.

  • I recently wrapped up my 6-month Immerse Mastermind. The women in this mastermind had the foundational pieces of their business in place but used it as a place to get more support, come together twice a month to talk about their businesses, brainstorm, and grow together.

One of the themes we discussed was how to get more visibility. The ideas we discussed can apply to service or product-based businesses. The main goal is to answer these questions: Where is your ideal audience, where are they consuming content, and where can you reach them? You want to avoid spending marketing dollars or wasting time on an audience that isn't your ideal customer.

In this episode, I'm sharing 5 ways to become more visible in your business, including collaboration with other businesses and content creators on social media, utilizing your local newspaper to drive awareness, being a guest on a podcast, participating at conventions, and hosting an event at your business.

People need what you offer in your business; they just don't know you exist. As business owners, it's our job to gain visibility and reach our audience.

  • In today’s episode, I share multiple reasons why you need automation in your business. Automation is a tool that completes tasks without you needing to be physically present. These tools take the manual work off your plate and give you your time back. I recently watched a man sharing information about his business, which often brings in 800k a month, and he said automation is one of the biggest reasons for his success. In this episode, I want to encourage you to take inventory of your business and determine what efficiencies you might be missing out on.

The biggest statistic that impacted me was hearing that when businesses lack automation, they lose 20% to 30% in revenue. Spending the time and money upfront to implement different automation tools is worth gaining that revenue in the long run. Putting automated processes in place saves time and money, reduces human errors, increases efficiency, reduces costs, speeds up deliverables, helps your employees, and ultimately increases revenue.

A few of the tools I mentioned: Dubsado, Asana, HoneyBook, and videos from Codie Sanchez.

Solving the customer's problems, communicating, and following through with what you've promised all lead to serving well.

  • In this episode, I’m doing a recap of month one of taking over the business we purchased called 406 Design. As I’ve shared in previous episodes, the first month has been hectic! One of my biggest learnings is that if you’re planning to take over a business, make sure it’s in the contract that the sellers will help train and guide you. We were so lucky to have the help from the previous owners to get us started on the right foot. If this isn’t possible, hire a consultant to help.

Within the six foundational parts of a business I teach and coach: mindset, leadership, your offer, marketing, sales, and business management, I’m concentrating on which area I need to focus on to fix holes right away. The top one is business management right now. Our top priority is making sure clients are getting their orders in a timely fashion. To do that, we implemented a new software called Printavo. This will help us streamline orders and make production efficient. Join me as I will continue to share what we’re learning as we take over our new business!

I love learning through books and podcasts, but there comes a time when learning too much becomes a problem. In today's episode, I'm sharing why continuing to consume information can keep you in an analysis paralysis phase. Learning too much keeps you from taking action and can cause you to doubt the action you're currently taking and slow your business growth. In this episode, I dive deeper into how to exit this learning phase and focus on action.

  • In today’s episode, I’m sharing my experience with quitting my nine-to-five job to launch my own business and how people reacted to that decision. People thought I was crazy! But I followed my dream and my goals anyway. Most people will think you are crazy as you set off on your entrepreneurship journey. The key is to know who to take advice from and who to keep in your inner circle versus tuning out those who don’t own their own business or haven’t walked where you have. This episode is all about trusting yourself and ignoring the rest.
