Every year people go missing while family and friends hope for their safe return. When time goes by without their loved one being found often hope turns to fear that their loved one has been killed. In these 3 cases, each woman was reported missing by her family, searches were made, years sometimes decades went by with no sign of the missing person. At some stage, a confession is made that the missing person has been murdered. But in these 3 cases, the confession was a lie as the missing person reappeared sometimes decades later, alive and well.

In 2014, a young woman named Rika Okada living in Nishinari-ku in Japan suddenly ceased face-to-face contact with her friends, family, and work colleagues. Contact with her was only via text and email and that soon ceased as well.
Rika was reported missing and the Police investigation revealed the brutal murder and bizarre disposal of her body.
The killer, someone Rika knew and trusted, evaded capture by fleeing to China which sparked a lengthy diplomatic and legal battle to extradite her back to Japan and the Japanese legal system.
